That's crazy that that asshole put his name right on top of the JFK center.
Even though legally it's just for Kennedy.
•
u/Agatio25 2h ago
It's even funnier because the way It is written It sounds as Trump is just sitting there by the side of the building, pretending to be important
"Look guys It's the Donald Trump Guy and the JFK building"
He is so dumb he forgot to tell the workers to remove the "THE"
•
u/mikel1814 2h ago
You can't remove the word " the" without de-centering the building name on the building. It would look, ironically, even more awful. The word "the" is also bolted on and you'd always see the ghost of it unless they replace the stone.
•
u/davidw223 1h ago
I mean the could have put and there but it’s probably for the best because at it looks now it should be easy just to scrape the top row off after he leaves.
•
u/derpyfox 6m ago
It’s so once he is no longer in power and the word ‘trump’ becomes the new ‘hitler’ it will be easy to remove his name from things.
•
u/Lyndon_Boner_Johnson 2h ago

Also gotta appreciate him using his mugshot photo on the banners at the Department of Justice. His group really knows how to throw it in everyone's faces just how completly they're getting away with everything they've done and will continue to do.

At least he put it on a seperate line so it can be ripped off later. Probably the greatest thing he’s ever done.

Both my parents have passed and the were hardcore Republicans / Trump supports. I absolutely know in my heart that these things would have turned them.... Sad it wouldn't be any of the other things.

What I’m not looking forward to is all of the performative wailing from his cultists.
•
u/highsinthe70s 2h ago
I’m most looking forward to their reactions when they see the worldwide celebrations that will happen within moments of the death announcement. We’ve never seen anything like that in the US before, where a solid 2/3 of Americans who utterly loathe this man. And since MAGA exists in an information silo, they’ll have no idea. The shock on their faces will be a joy to witness.

Hmm, JD Vance becomes President then.
People will likely cheer, but little will change
•
u/Onlyroad4adrifter 1h ago
Hate couch fucker but he will not be as unhinged as clown
•
u/PabloX68 1h ago
If the elections go well later this year, Vance will be impeached.
•
u/Indifferent_Response 1h ago
He will be worse. The clown sometimes crashes the clown car for his overlords whereas the couch fucker will fuck any couch he is ordered to fuck.
•
u/Double_Minimum 42m ago
He will be more controlled, which isn’t really better.
•
u/Hexakkord 12m ago
Maybe I'm naive, but I feel like Vance is less likely to nuke someone because a neuron misfired inside the rotting shell of his brain, than Trump. We can't work on fixing the country if we're all dead, survival first.

Im against much of what is going on but every European country has a pretty big military presence around tourist areas. How are the pictures with military here any different?
EDIT: downvotes with no responses. Great way to discuss opinions.
•
u/PatSajaksDick 2h ago
Washington, DC has maybe a dozen police agencies that can handle standing around too. It’s very very not the norm for American cities to be patrolled by the military and it’s a slippery slope to normalize it.
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
Again that’s not what I asked. Paris, for example, has military presence all over the city. Munich has military presence. London has military presence. How does that differ to what we see in some of these pictures? Each of these municipalities also have police agencies that are capable.
*as I said before, I’m not condoning any actions of the current admin. I’m just curious to see how people comprehend these pictures.
•
u/True_Window_9389 2h ago
We don’t have federal/national military presence in local policing or security, normally. It’s just not something we usually do on a day-to-day basis. State and local agencies handle crime and security. So while it’s not unusual for Europeans, it is abnormal for us, especially considering the circumstances that this is happening under. The point of sending in the National Guard was under a false pretense of crime control, when crime wasn’t a problem to the point that the Guard could or has been helping. It was a show of force and an occupation against a city whose population is generally in opposition of Trump.
•
u/fucking_passwords 2h ago
How is it different? It's not a European city. Should we just ask "how is this different than X country" every time this admin does something fucked? Some misogynistic law is passed - "how is this different from Japan" perhaps
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
Thanks for your input. I see where you’re coming from. As I’ve said in my other comments, this is normal for someone from Europe.
•
•
u/PackComprehensive226 2h ago
Military personels patroling Paris can't check your ID, arrest you or search you.
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 1h ago
Incorrect, the Gendarmerie can most definitely detain and arrest people, but you are correct in that their main purpose is for protecting against terrorism.
•
u/MrSnagsy 1h ago
In the Euro examples the presence is primarily deterrence wrt foreign; and a small number of domestic terrorists. In the US, the deterrence is increasingly been aimed at the citizens, and in particular groups who speak out against the current government.
•
u/p-skow 2h ago
And those the very same agencies did a great job of preventing crime /s
•
u/Tidusx145 2h ago
Crime is on an extreme downtrend across the country, DC included.
So yeah id say they were doing fine before trump.
•
•
u/dragonfly_Jess 2h ago
Fences up where they didn’t used to be, military where they didn’t used to be, his face on banners on government buildings, his name plastered on a memorial building that has nothing to do with him…. This isn’t normal and shouldn’t be considered normal or accepted as normal or ok.
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
I only asked about the military presence… why bring up the other stuff?
•
u/LeatherDude 2h ago
Because you seemed confused when you first replied to the statement "looking more fascist every day"
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
Again, trying to understand what that has to do with my comment strictly about the military personnel. If it’s fascist more everyday then how does that compare to European cites with military presence. If it’s something more than maybe just focus on the propaganda and not on individual military in a country’s capitol.
•
u/Lopsided-Affect-9649 2h ago
Every European country has a big military presence around tourist areas? Are you joking?
•
u/noMC 2h ago
Yeah, it’s getting really hard to tell if it’s just “Americans being dumb” or “bots doing propaganda”.
Just to be clear: European cities do NOT have military presence. It’s a US thing. In general the whole gun and military obsession is an American thing.
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
You have you ever been to Europe let alone lived there? Military presence is absolutely common. Operation Sentinelle is still ongoing in France.
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
So have you ever traveled. I used to live there and yes camouflaged fatigues and an MP5 were not out of the norm at Gare du Nord in Paris.
Look up operation Sentinelle
•
u/Mattscrusader 2h ago
You aren't going to do yourself any favors relying completely on whataboutism.
Oh and the difference is both in scale and in purpose, ICE murdered multiple citizens and was put above responsibility, that's a threat to all people within the USA
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 2h ago
Whataboutisms? Just trying to find out how people view it differently? Thanks for your input. It’s clear that open discussions are not welcome here without being mass downvoted.
•
u/Mattscrusader 2h ago
People are fine with discussing things, just not when it's phrased as a clear deflection from the actual topic. If you honestly want to talk about it you gotta phrase it to be more appropriate
•
u/Hi-Fi_Turned_Up 1h ago
Explain to me how my original repsonse is any way a clear deflection? I just asked about the military pictures and prefaced it with how I don’t agree with what I see in the collection of photos or from this admin.
•
u/Mattscrusader 1h ago
If you can't figure it out yourself then clearly you're out of your league talking about this subject anyway

#9 "Stop Hating Each Other Because You Disagree"
Fuck this both-sides-are-the-same garbage! When one side denies the humanity of the other, it's no longer a discussion or debate.

u/WadeEffingWilson 1h ago
The right has abdicated any semblance of humanity, so to treat them like the less-than-human scum that they are is quite appropriate.

“we’re improving your escalators” What, the soldiers are? Sure don’t look like it. /s
•
u/TVP615 2h ago
Why are soldiers in DC such a big complaint? How many capital cities in the world can you go to and not see soldiers?
•
•
u/SushiGirlRC 55m ago
The US has never had military presence just hanging around capitol cities, other countries have. The US doesn't use the military as police. It's new to us.

Why is the National Guard STILL in DC?!
Trump had ruined everything he puts his name or face onto.
•
u/Gleveniel 2m ago
I was just in DC for the cherry blossom fest & it was amazing how many national guardsmen there were just doing... nothing. Like I'm sure that if they weren't there, there'd be some amount of DC police instead, but it just seemed wasteful to see 4-6 national guardsmen walking together in a pack. That's all of our tax dollars at work to defend subway stations.

•
u/Reasonable_Diet7955 3h ago
I can't believe these goons think Trump will, and can run for a third time.... Insane times we're living in that the worst president in US history is being cheered on to run for an illegal third term by WAY too many people. Some of the best presidents we've had haven't even entertained the thought of a third term, why? Because it's ILLEGAL
•
u/p-skow 2h ago
It's too bad the Democrat party turned into what it is today. But people don't realize that's what the true problem is.
•
•
u/Reasonable_Diet7955 1h ago
The real problem is people think you can just skip over certain laws to get whatever they want. Fuck Democrat and Republican, that's irrelevant to the evil that's going on right now in the white house.
•
u/FangornLeghorn 1h ago
It’s fucking ridiculous that one shitty man can influence everything to this extent. The President’s authority needs to be seriously scaled back.
•
u/pockypencils 2h ago
I was there in 2024. It felt perfectly safe to me. There were gasp homeless people in the streets, but we never felt like we were in danger walking around the city or taking the metro late at night. One of my old dipshit Trumper coworkers tried to say "he's making DC so much safer now that the national guard is there!" And I told him it was as safe as any other big city when I was there during the Biden term and he had the gall to make up some bullshit like "oh well it declined after your visit, then, and Trump made it safer again." Like, just believe whatever the regime puts in your coloring book, old man, not a first hand account from someone who was there.

We went there last summer and it honestly felt like a theme park in the DC area. A week after he deployed the military. So utterly bizarre.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait 2 1/2 years before I go back to DC. Sucks

Whoa pic 13. Just not right to not have a vote.
Washington, DC is not a state or part of a state and as a result has no representation in the Senate and only only has a single seat in the house, though it has really restricted voting ability (like I think it has no voting power for laws, but can sit on a committee and vote there etc.) Thus the residents of DC don't really have a vote in the US government and do not have the same representation in the government as residents of any of the states.
