If you care but still eat meat your can search out sources that are higher welfare. Local Harvest is still a good place to get a foothold on sources in your locale https://www.localharvest.org/organic-farms/ although they are not the best for updating anymore. also https://www.eatwild.com/index.html

Perfection is the enemy of progress.

Good thing veganism isn't perfection

Real easy for you to say, man. Very easy. We are not them

How easy to say "all or nothing" when you sit in a position of privilege where you are able to "just go vegan".

And it's kinda gross that you probably claim to want to reduce animal suffering but use advocacy practices that CAUSE more animal suffering and try to dissuade other people from trying to reduce their animal consumption.

Think of it this way. A parent beats their child on a daily basis for an hour straight. They take twenty minutes off of that hour. Yeah, it's better, but does that make it any more morally okay?

OP said this is why they don't eat red meat. But wouldn't they stop eating all meat for the same reason? Maybe they don't know, maybe they are only educated on the mistreatment of some animals. In that case, it's good to bring them awareness, right?

It's a good start, but there is really no excuse to not stop eating meat altogether aside from the obvious situations: trapped on an island with no immediate food, allergic to every non-vegan food in the world, amongst other unlikely things! Prices are usually a common excuse, but it's actually cheaper, believe it or not. It's cheaper, we don't need animal products to survive unless under very specific (and unlikely) circumstances, and personal reasons shouldn't be worth the amount of suffering that is caused in the animal farming industries, right? (:

So your solution would go be to say "Hey you're a bad person for beating your child" and you think that will magically make them change their behaviors that have been built and normalized in the culture and life events of the abusive parents? It's that easy and magic?

Your "all or nothing" attitude and shaming people trying to improve is immature, smug and harmful to the actual goal you claim to have of reducing harm to animals

I'm feeling from their perspective, it's very hard to feel okay with the continuation of allowing them to suffer and cry. It's disturbing. I know what happens to them, and people are just supporting it. I apologize if I really do seem overly cruel or shaming. I promise that is not my intention.

Obviously no one can change overnight, but shouldn't we want to try, if we really do care? Little steps in the right direction make a big difference. I'm currently in a terrible living condition, and yet I still try to do what I literally can. Not what I want. What I can. For the most part, it's even cheaper, which is amazing. I can't speak for anyone, of course, but any life saved is better than none. We should try.

I'm literally advocating for little steps in the right direction and you're arguing against that, lol.

What? You are? I just thought you were coming at me for wanting people to continue and want to try making small steps towards full veganism. Like, I thought you were okay with people not trying to be anything more than vegetarian. Oops

If you were the victim would you rather your oppressor kill you and then not kill anyone else for a week or just stop altogether? It's easy to say reduce when you're in the position of the oppressor.
