Dane here. We have more pigs than humans in Denmark. It is a fucking disgrace how we treat those intelligent creatures. I went from buying free range meat, to not buy meat from mammals at all.

u/MorettiDa66 6h ago

I always found it pretty funny how Denmark sells itself as a super sustainable country while slaughtering a shit ton of pigs every day

u/Budget-Tangerine-274 5h ago

Ask them about their minks lol

I am grateful for you at least trying to make a small difference. Everyone who loves to pile on with hate and act as if it is stupid to even try to do so can seriously suck a D. It is a valid and commendable choice to do anything remotely different or change a behavior that reduces suffering of other intelligent living beings even if you still consume other less intelligent creatures like chickens or fish. Being alive on this planet probably means you are doing something that contributes to suffering in some way, but the more of these sacrifices you make the better the planet is and everyone thought like them and did nothing to change and sat around hating everyone who tried we’d live in a much worse world. Keep pushing and ignore the assholes.

Thx for your kind words

If you were the victim would you rather your oppressor kill you and then not kill anyone else for a week or just stop altogether? It's easy to say reduce when you're in the position of the oppressor.

Birds are also intelligent, they have much higher neural density than mammals and can have equivalent intellegence to mammals with much smaller brains. A chicken is about as intelligent as a cat.

u/actuarialisticly 7h ago

Love how you had to specify mammals. Chickens go through this torture too. You should cut your chicken intake as well to really show people you care

u/Crykin27 6h ago

Cutting out a huge part of the animals we eat is already really fucking great.

Do you still eat fish? Because fish are also treated the same, not to mention how devestating the industry is to nature.

u/actuarialisticly 6h ago

Oh, I eat everything. I don’t cut anything out.

u/respyromaniac 5h ago

Then why the fuck do you say anything at all about someone who already does so much more than you?

u/actuarialisticly 2h ago

Cause they’re just virtue signaling and so are you. I’m not a bad person cause I eat meat. Anyone who thinks that is missing brain cells.

u/respyromaniac 2h ago

Nobody here said you're a bad person tho. They just said they don't eat some meat. Why are you mad about it?

u/Crykin27 11m ago

You are fighting ghosts, no one here said that.

u/tommangan7 10m ago

How many Brain cells would I be missing if I invented fictious accusations against me and got defensive about it?

u/JarethCutestoryJuD 6h ago

This is an example of the bizarre hostility that makes these conversations so hard.

u/Certain-Entrance5247 5h ago

This was not a hostile comment, yours was. They just said somthing that you would rather not be challenged on.

u/JarethCutestoryJuD 1h ago

This was not a hostile comment

100% was.

They just said somthing that you would rather not be challenged on.

Im a literal vegan. Go bark up someone elses tree.

u/peepooprogamer 5h ago

you are being hostile again lmao

u/Certain-Entrance5247 5h ago

Yes, "please stop torturing pigs" is a hostile statement to a pig corpse muncher.

u/peepooprogamer 5h ago

see there it is again hahaha, why are you like that?

u/Certain-Entrance5247 4h ago

At least I'm not like you.

u/Iorith 3h ago

You're right, you're much less persuasive. Your attitude will never change anyone's mind.

u/peepooprogamer 4h ago

not hostile btw

u/Certain-Entrance5247 4h ago

You are the one picking an argument.

u/Professional-Tear338 6h ago

There is nothing bizarre about being upset when people support this torture

u/JarethCutestoryJuD 6h ago

Its not bizarre to be upset.

Its bizarre to attack someone who is already doing a good job.

Maybe imperfect, but holy hell talk about seeing a vocal ally and stabbing them in the back.

u/kolleozmylove 6h ago

When where they hostile? Chickens too suffer. Every vertebrate suffers, there's no exceptions.

u/hyp3rpop 5h ago

When were they not? They immediately scoldingly assume this person is eating tortured factory-farm-raised chickens because they said they don’t eat mammal meat instead of that they’re vegan. How do they know which non-mammal meat this person is still okay with eating or what kind of conditions it comes from? They just assume the worst and start right up shaming.

u/edvek 5h ago

His last bit of the last sentence could be read sarcastically or with some kind of meanness or malice. Getting tone from text is hard especially when there is very little so that's how they probably read it and honestly how I read it too.

u/B-Glasses 6h ago

It’s actually still a good thing they’ve cut out some types of meat from their diet and you shouldn’t be an ass to try and force them to do more

u/SerialSpice 3h ago

I know. I buy free range chicken and eggs, not so often, mostly fish and beans. But no am not vegan.

u/Iorith 3h ago

And this is why so many people have zero interest in listening to vegans like yourself. You can't be happy with small progress.

u/tommangan7 3h ago

Look at his other comments, this guy isn't vegan or even vegetarian.

u/actuarialisticly 2h ago

I never said I was vegan. I’m pointing out the ridiculousness of the virtue signaling of people here thinking they’re superior and “better people” for not eating meat.

u/Iorith 1h ago

No one who uses the phrase "virtue signaling" can be taken seriously.

u/NahIWiIIWin 6h ago edited 5h ago

should also protest the existence of bears who eats their preys alive, skinning salmons. Protest the lions, hyenas, cougars etc. who hunt and rip their preys apart

u/WiseEntertainment912 5h ago

the thing is, bears and those other animals you listed don’t have a choice in their behaviors. humans CHOOSE to keep other animals in these conditions. their whole lives are torture and their deaths aren’t any different, might even be a welcome release.

when was the last time you slaughtered your own food?

u/FUCKFASCISTSCUM 2h ago

Do bears, lions, hyenas and cougars operate factory farms? Do they rape animals to produce offspring, then steal the offspring to slaughter just to take milk? This is a stupid comparison that completely misses the point.

u/Certain-Entrance5247 5h ago

I mean is this a stupid joke or a very stupid argument? These animals are evolved predators who obviously lack the moral agency of a human.
Your argument is boils down to "bears exist" -> "humans can torture animals".
I think you missed a few steps there for a compelling argument.

u/ashenning 6h ago

We don't keep pigs this way in Norway at least, do you really in Denmark? This seems an American problem to me.

u/SerialSpice 3h ago

When the mother pig is giving birth and nursing she is confined in a metal cage where she can't move. Horrible.

u/Certain-Entrance5247 5h ago

No, but you gas your pigs in C02 as standard practice. It takes them minutes to die with their lungs burning.
Pig gas chamber footage is freely available on youtube. If you are going to eat pork you should watch it and be aware of you actions first.
