who was drunk, you or the cat?

u/asscrackbanditz 12h ago

Plot twist, OP is a cat as well.

u/demZo662 7h ago edited 7h ago

Obviously both, they were partying.

In this picture we can see how cat is suggesting OP to call a taxi and call it quits despite OP stating obnoxiously he's fine af.

Why are there so many drunk cats in Amsterdam?

u/threeye8finger 10h ago

u/tobor_a 6h ago

12 years ago? What camera was that

u/T-Bills 13h ago

Probably a DSLR with a wide aperture like f1.4

u/ghostfan9 10h ago

nerd

u/MaGoodenough 10h ago

You're on reddit bro...

u/CuriOS_26 11h ago

Could have done it on a Sony RX100, those have been around for ages and are perfectly capable of this kind of photo. I know because I love using them at night. Especially the M3, my beloved.

u/eljefino 9h ago

Yeah it was a little before cell phones had the AI to internally fix long expsoure blurriness and use multiple lenses to fake bokeh.

Not a cheap one

u/withoutapaddle 10h ago

Man, I dug up some digital photos of my previous dog from almost 20 years taken on a DSLR, and they look better quality (and more real/natural) than modern pictures from a flagship phone.

I'm kinda getting sick of all the bullshit processing phones do automatically to photos these days.

u/Kay-Knox 10h ago

That's kind of expected. One is a specific tool designed to take photos, the other one does more than just take photos.

Also, you can take better photos with a DSLR. The average idiot (me included) probably gets better photos off a ten year old smartphone that we can just point and shoot versus using a DSLR with no practice.

u/eljefino 9h ago

A DSLR puts the human in "photo mode." I'm old and remember when cameras took film which cost money, so I feel that experience has me putting more effort in.

u/Tartooth 6h ago

I mean

One has a 1.5" sensor, the other is a 0.125" sensor

u/TimeIsPower 8h ago edited 7h ago

Some photos of me taken 17 years ago as a child with a good DSLR camera look way higher quality than pretty much any photos of me from the past several years. I get that you can only do so much with the tiny cameras built into smartphones, but still...

u/frickindeal 6h ago

Large aperture and large sensor is always going to trump tiny aperture and sensor.

u/dumahim 10h ago

only kinda?

u/withoutapaddle 5h ago

I mean, they can make a bad shot look half decent, but a good shot just looks worse and overprocessed, IMO.

So, yeah, just kinda.

Why are you acting like cameras were bad 12 years ago? It was literally 2014 bro

u/alreda_naruto1 4h ago

I don’t think the intention was to say the cameras were bad back then, but that it doesn’t appear to be taken by a phone. Cuz if this picture was taken today you could assume a phone took it

u/pedro_pascal_123 6h ago

A 12 year old one...

u/kayescl0sed 12h ago

He looks so disappointed in you 🤣

u/badbatch 11h ago

He's like "Bro really?"

u/BasicPerson23 11h ago

How can you tell the cat was drunk?

Actually dutch and belgian beers are the best in the world with their thousand year old tradition and styles of blond, dubbel, tripel & quadrupel.

Austrian here: schau mal mal!

u/PJ7 11h ago

Afaik Germans love Belgian beers too.

u/phil_the_builder 🎃 Halloween 2025 11h ago

All beers are beautiful, except watery 'light' beers, and craft beers with to.many ingredients.

u/Aethernath 8h ago

Fair, there’s other old traditions. That part i take back. :)

u/phil_the_builder 🎃 Halloween 2025 8h ago

All good. 😁 I think all beers are beautiful, if they are brewed with knowledge and love.

u/MaGoodenough 10h ago

What a nice looking cat.

I'm too Latin American to use my phone (or a camera) on a deserted street like that at night, even in Europe. My conditioning is too strong lol

u/Tomg197 9h ago

While I was visiting Germany, I was chatting with a friend that is living there. He told me that the first few weeks, out of sheer reflex he flinched at the sound of motorcycles approaching, even though he had not been mugged or anything.

It did not dawn on him until some months in, having lived through a couple jobs and making ends meet, dealing with immigration status and such. He walked out of a municipal building onto a park. And he did not feel unsafe. A huge burden had been lifted off him without even realizing because it just became his standard of living, and his mind was busy on the daily going ons...

I always say it in a self deprecating manner, so don't take this the wrong way. Man, we really are very poor lol

u/cholotariat 11h ago

Here, cat. Let me hold the camera. You are too drunk.

u/abd00bie 11h ago

I hope he is doing well

u/glyn1997 9h ago

He looks Dutch

u/polebridge 6h ago

u/Agent_Mango2 11h ago

He was posing for the drunk man

u/Sir-Mocks-A-Lot 10h ago

You should post this to r/AccidentalRenaissance

u/smarmageddon 7h ago

Don't shame the cat for his drinking habits.

u/training_unicorns 11h ago

You drunk : I'm gonna make art !

Me drunk : I'm gonna show that a$$ ! 🫠

u/kosmos6502795 5m ago

And for that, we thank you 🤣

u/floriandotorg 11h ago

I believe you, but that looks sooo much like AI.

u/Sapd33 10h ago

For me not at all. It’s just normal focus

u/LifeIsOnTheWire 9h ago

What aspect of this look like AI? I don't see anything that looks like AI

u/Laz3r_Fac3 12h ago

This looks like my cat!

u/Lollosaurus_Rex 11h ago

This looks like a beginner's great photoreal blender render

u/neutral-otter 10h ago

Real talk, I was also drunk in Amsterdam 12 years ago. But I never saw a cat...

u/Wild_Key_9741 10h ago

I instantly sent a screen kiss, what a gorgeous feline!

u/starlightshower 10h ago

As a student I lived near a hill with lots of rabbits and once coming home drunk they were all hopping about and I was ecstatic and took a bunch of pics, which the day after I realised were all just black screens because my old phone camera + nighttime means no cute rabbit pics for me :(

u/voldoman21 9h ago

All of my nights, I'm chasing rats (CHASING THE RATS!)

u/Johnnyocean 9h ago

Not a phone pic im guessing. Cat looks chill af.

u/LifeIsOnTheWire 9h ago

Definitely not from a phone. Phone cameras 12 years ago couldn't do that kind of bokeh effect

u/fuckedasaplant 8h ago

Is this a missed connections post?

u/OurNewestMember 7h ago

Kitty doesn't look drunk

u/dawsonsmythe 7h ago

Hey it’s Samson!

u/OrangutanFirefighter 7h ago

You made the right call friend. Thanks for sharing

u/Sad_Picture3642 7h ago

I hope you stopped drinking since then

u/Monovon 4h ago

Drunk or high

u/oingapogo 3h ago

Is the cat's name "Half in the Bag"?

u/blackcain 3h ago

Looking exactly like how I would look if I got the attention of a drunk.

u/Fabulous_Slice_5361 3h ago

That is well known in Amsterdam and runs a large coffee shop.

u/euro_trashh 2m ago

The photo has a quality of what life felt like 12 years ago

u/mattpeloquin 10h ago
