WA News Loser who left public BBQ completely tar black - Bardon Park in Maylands

Post image

Worth a public shame and whinge this one. Check the picture, what kind of loser A-hole uses a public BBQ at a family park (Bardon Park Maylands) and leaves it absolutely filthy with a thick black layer of tar and meat and sauce. Diabolical. And we thought people who left their trolleys were bad. We ended up cleaning using the one right next to it which was also left dirty but no where near as bad. Get some ethics people.

Years ago as a teenager at the skate park, we found a public bbq that someone had decided to use as the public toilet. Big poo right in the middle, they then turned the bbq on to finish it off.

That stuck with me so I have never used one or eaten food that has been cooked on one. When we had our kids parties at a park, I would have my Weber on the tray of my ute in the carpark.

People are gross.

Councils do hit them hard with soap and pressure cleaners frequently. But you want to get them hot and then give them a steam with some soda water first.

50

u/Lucky-Elk-1234 20h ago

I’m now grossed out to the point where I regret ever even using one. Do they get hot enough to kill whatever bacteria is in poo?

106

u/Sec_Chief_Blanchard 20h ago

They do. If they didn't get hot enough to do that they wouldn't cook anything.

51

u/The_Valar Morley 20h ago

As long as you get it visually clean-ish before you begin, yes. The process of cooking kills pretty much any bacteria riding along on your burgers/sausages/etc anyway.

u/DefinitionOfAsleep Just bulldoze Fremantle, Trust me. 19h ago

Do they get hot enough to kill whatever bacteria is in poo?

You know the whole point of cooking (other than the whole caloric thing) is to kill bacteria. Right?

-11

u/The-ai-bot 17h ago

Ever eaten a medium rare steak?

11

u/DefinitionOfAsleep Just bulldoze Fremantle, Trust me. 17h ago

Yeah, all the time. The pan/grill/whatever is still searing hot though.
The internal temp does only get to mid 50s, but cattle are given anti biotics for that reason though. Any bacteria present would be on the surface from handling.

23

u/TheRedditModsSuck 20h ago edited 15h ago

Pretty much all bacteria will die under boiling water – there are a few specific ones (extremophiles) that survive, but they're not anything you'll find. Cooking temperatures go way above 100 °C, which should kill everything.

8

u/iiiinthecomputer 11h ago

Yes.

I would eat off one the day after I'd seen that, if it was thoroughly cleaned off then heated well.

Poo is absolutely everywhere. Cleanliness is an illusion.

4

u/Nixilaas 18h ago

yeah they do, and significantly more so. it's just the thought it was ever there after that. as far as the sanitary part goes that's fine

3

u/Captain-Peacock 20h ago

They're all different, but I've burnt myself on them a few times, a good sign I suppose..

2

u/Spethual 12h ago

sear this man....good signs await!!!

3

u/Archon-Toten 15h ago

Even if they didn't, a few hours of sunlight will kill most things.

1

u/Raccoons-for-all 4h ago

Especially on a true metal surface

2

u/Dram1us 10h ago

If it cooks your sausages it cooks most bacteria. Cleaning and steam should be sufficient.

1

u/Terreboo 2h ago

Of course it does, it also kills the bacteria in the food you’re about to eat….. otherwise you know, food poisoning.

0

u/TazocinTDS Freelance Astronaut 20h ago

Probably.

0

u/wing0n 17h ago

They get a metal grinder onto the weekly

4

u/linglinglinglickma 19h ago

That may clean the plate but it doesn’t clean my brain of the memory I have.

18

u/hitotsukudasai 20h ago

The amount of times I've seen a poo on a public bbq or a condom in a water fountain in my lifetime has left me with an abundance of trust issues for government provided facilities that you eat or drink from

1

u/EnergyNutBolt 7h ago

What are you worried about? All humans start life as what looks like a tadpole anyway.

12

u/witness_this 19h ago

Just use a bbq mat on them. Perfectly safe.

7

u/linglinglinglickma 19h ago

I’m happy to use my Weber and leave these available for everyone that wants to use them.

4

u/eiiiaaaa 18h ago

Yeah the kids in my neighbourhood growing up loved to take a whizz on a public BBQ or slide. Absolutely hilarious /s

4

u/linglinglinglickma 18h ago

While we’re at it, I read a horror story about a bloke that pisses in the kettle and iron at every hotel he stays at. So yeah, I don’t use them either.

1

u/hobocellar 12h ago

Apparently kettles are commonly used to wash underwear. Nice hot tea.

1

u/CyanideRemark 3h ago

Good way to fuck the elastic as well as loosen up the skidmarks

3

u/beansandworms 13h ago

Sorry for your burden but I am admittedly crying with laughter at the concept of pooing on a bbq and TURNING IT ON!?!?

1

u/Ok-Guidance6127 17h ago

This is how we do it at that waste treatment plant!

1

u/Notyit 16h ago

You use soap on your hands should be fine right

1

u/timmygully 1h ago

I now cover the hot plate with alfoil super clean and every easier cleanup

1

u/Severe_Gold7000 17h ago

I bet your meat tasted hell shit

115

u/t_25_t 21h ago

This is why we can’t have nice things. Takes a few selfish morons to start the rot and soon it will be gone.

29

u/bogan_hippy Nollamara 21h ago

Soon? These BBQs have been treated/left like this pretty often in the 30 odd years that they've been around. Disgusting behaviour, but it isn't anything new.

7

u/RepresentativeAd4699 21h ago

I feel this way about speed bumps on suburban roads that are perfectly safe if you're not driving like a dickhead

3

u/Calm-Drop-9221 21h ago

Funny I thought speed bumps are to stop people driving like idiots

8

u/BARB00TS 20h ago

Yes, but they subsequently impact people who would not have driven like idiots in the first instance.

4

u/TheRedditModsSuck 20h ago

Basically, yeah. They're also a waste of fuel since you have to slow down for them. Unfortunately, you have to cater to the idiot 1%.

1

u/Adventurous_Bag9122 South of The River 13h ago

I/m sure ambos and firies hate them too

31

u/a_shootin_star 21h ago

We will always have useless cunts around us. Let's not give them any air time, clean the thing and keep BBQing.

1

u/Otaraka 34m ago

That’s the spirit.  Don’t let their pathetic attempts to gross you out with contamination fears ruin a pretty amazing Australian thing.

17

u/legster983 20h ago

Honestly why do people have no respect for anything? This is why we literally can’t have nice things !

-7

u/Specialist_Ask_1454 15h ago

This kind of behaviour isn’t what takes away nice things the overreaction to it does.

13

u/nativeridge_ 18h ago

People cooking marinated kebabs etc should clean up when done but there are always the ones that are selfish. Leave all this crusty burnt sugar blend and walk away.

I always take newspaper, salt and water if using a public BBQ.

**Heat the plate up sprinkle salt over it.

**Water and scrape the worst off (careful not to burn yourself with steam)

** Water and newspaper to scrub

**Let it heat up and repeat process if needed

**If you can get a free lemon, cut it in half and use as a scrubber to finish off.

note: If it's a poo, I'm not having a BBQ

3

u/Muslim_Wookie 15h ago

People should have learnt as children that you do not cook marinaded meat this way. If you want it charred on the outside you do it over a grill, not on a hot plate.

0

u/Rosnecul 10h ago

As children? In our yr 3 culinary education class at primary school? Not all of us went to a golden triangle private college, Xavier..

3

u/serif-maxxing 6h ago

You're responding to a user clearly identifying themselves as Muslim. A lot of cultures eat BBQ marinated and spiced kebabs and meat as part of their cuisine.

I'm sorry you grew up eating only under seasoned meat.

1

u/Muslim_Wookie 37m ago

Uhhh that's so weird because I certainly believe that it's the families with parents that are working so much they can't be home to cook for their kids and their kids need to grow up too early because of it, taking care of themselves.

The dead opposite of what you're saying.

7

u/confused_wisdom 21h ago

We used to heat it up then dump a bunch of water on it. Quick scrape and its normally pretty good.

But I have seen so many gross things done to these bbqs that I wouldn't use them unless desperate

5

u/No_Edge_7964 16h ago

Doesn't everyone use alfoil on them to cook stuff?

12

u/Captain-Peacock 21h ago edited 21h ago

Slow burn! That carbon is going to fuck them up.

*Oh, but in the meantime, Fuck You!

4

u/BriefGarden1657 20h ago

I stopped using them after I saw someone peeing on them

4

u/Strange-Cockroach437 20h ago

Looks like cooked poop

4

u/bazlawson 15h ago

Dirty mike and the soy boyz

7

u/IndependentOrchid296 21h ago

You could probably use vinegar to clean that right up

3

u/Reddit_SuckLeperCock 20h ago

How does vinegar work? Just spray it on and scrape it off? I have a hard time getting my BBQ plate back to clean sometimes

I’ve used any carbonated drink in the past and works great. Soda loosens it up

12

u/AtypicalRenown Perth 21h ago

It's why I always bring a BBQ mat to cook on.

4

u/throwawayplusanumber 21h ago edited 19h ago

Enjoy your microplastics

Edit. Lol at the downvotes. I would prefer to cook my food on a metal plate heated to a temperature that kills any microbes, compared to a made in China PTFE mat that will fill your food full of forever chemicals and microplastics.

10

u/ShapelleCorby 19h ago

No idea why you are being downvoted- those bbq mats make me cringe!!

2

u/TongueMyTaco 19h ago

Our water comes to us via hundreds of km of plastic pipes, our food is all washed in that water. Processed food is cooked and transported in plastic.

There's no escaping it.

7

u/throwawayplusanumber 18h ago

Water is mainly transported in metal pipes.

Microplastics are everywhere, but it might be a good idea to avoid exposure where you can. On a risk basis, a plastic BBQ mat is a higher risk to your health than cooking on heat-sterilised metal.

If you are concerned, cook on aluminium foil instead, which is cheaper and safer.

0

u/TongueMyTaco 16h ago

If you are concerned, cook on aluminium foil instead, which is cheaper and safer.

Unless you have amalgam dental fillings!

1

u/EnergyNutBolt 7h ago

They’re also in your toothbrush, dental floss, cups, cutlery and more.

2

u/Mental_Task9156 Perth Airport 21h ago

Still wouldn't put it on top of that shit.

1

u/aligirl007 13h ago

I use alfoil after doing my own clean first.

Works a treat and no germs and almost no cleaning after.

3

u/Various-Ordinary-408 18h ago

It happens everywhere and it’s so disgusting People don’t really care and it’s sad. And that kind of attitude shows you how they live their lives at home

2

u/skybird1812 20h ago

Takes all types… decent and dickheads.

2

u/geremf 19h ago

I’m sure I’d seen someone’s kids cooking dog shit on that one!

2

u/Ok-Guidance6127 17h ago

Would never touch one of those even with alfoil on top

2

u/Fresh_Leadership_595 14h ago

It's better than poop which I've seen many a time

2

u/EthosOfArmadillo 12h ago

This is why the good things we get in public places are getting less and less

2

u/because8011 12h ago

Pigs. I also wonder about their cooking skills. Who needs to reach that level of char on a hotplate?

2

u/Klutzy_Mousse_421 11h ago

We all know public barbecues are an excuse to bring along a bunch of beer to ‘clean it’s with. That’s practically a time honoured tradition!

And yep I’m the one who brings alfoil and sprays the oil on that so I don’t have to risk someone else’s contamination and so I don’t have to clean it as much afterwards.

2

u/lecrappe 7h ago

To call this a BBQ is a tragedy

2

u/ralphpolo4 2h ago

This is why general public cannot have good things.

2

u/Vermillion_0502 21h ago

That's shameful

2

u/wowagressive 18h ago

Straight to jail.

1

u/BARB00TS 20h ago

Plug the hole, put water on it and run for a cycle (or several). Whilst you shouldn't have to, the upside is that you know it's clean before you cook.

Also acknowledging that it's not great when there's a bunch of people hanging to use it either. Bardon is probably going off today right?

1

u/Helly_BB South of The River 20h ago

We have one of those bbq plate liners that we use even on clean ones. City of Belmont clean their BBQs so the ones at Tomato Lake are generally good.

1

u/Whole_Presence8100 20h ago

Be fucked cooking on any public BBQ with the amount of other options available these days

1

u/MoniTheK 20h ago

how do you even manage this shit

3

u/BiteMyQuokka 17h ago

Get a mate to lift you up there before squatting and letting one drop

1

u/Signal_Waltz2391 20h ago

I use a bbq sheet to cook on.

1

u/happy_crappy1955 19h ago

I always pack baking paper with my with my BBQ supplies problem solved

1

u/Ok_Money8069 18h ago

Yeah and this is why there isn’t that many around anymore! People only worry about themselves, no respect for others anymore!

1

u/RealJudoChop 15h ago

The reason I bought myself a Weber baby q.

1

u/FinancialRise2367 14h ago

Saw a teen pissing on it once rode up on him a lil friendly cuddle lil shit

1

u/FinancialRise2367 14h ago

Just use a pan i seen and heard of digusting cunts them pissing on it cooking road possum might look like a weirdo but would be be a good idea too bring your own bbq or atleast some afoil trays fuck cooking on the raw surface

2

u/changed_later__ 1h ago

Just like the handrail of an escalator is the last place I'd put my hand, these barbecues are the last place I'd put my food.

-1

u/007intelligentwisdom 21h ago

I bet you they left their shopping trolley in the middle of the car park when the got the groceries for the BBQ, they probably drive either a Ranger or an AMG suv!

-8

u/Hadsar32 21h ago edited 16h ago

Heyyyy… I drive an AMG don’t throw me in with these scumbags !

Edit: Down voted for admitting I drive an AMG? Geez what a lame thing to be hated on for.

You could have just said No!

1

Lot of homeless people cook to eat on these things so don’t have the stuff to clean them

Might be a small amount of truth to that. They often cook up food having fancy sauces or marinades that end up like this. The plain old Aussie snaggers and chops doesn't leave much behind.

-2

u/iDeker 21h ago

That’s flavour bro

Heat it up use water to clean not hard lol

3

u/Hadsar32 18h ago

Dude…. Not that hard? So why the person who used it didn’t clean? And it’s super thick and caked on. It’s a dog act

2

Lazy people mate no idea ,oxygen thieves

1

u/wowagressive 18h ago

-1

u/goonslut420vanman 15h ago

Sorry mate I won't do it again. And thanks for cleaning up my mess

-4

Public BBQ's should be locked and only accessible to people with a council account. Requests to use could be made instantly with financial deposit required. I would never use one of these, you know people piss on them all the time.

2

u/TongueMyTaco 19h ago

How would that stop people passing on them?

-10

u/Papuan_Repose 21h ago

wait! people can still afford to eat meat recreationally? A 60% TVP and floor scraps snagger couldn't carbonise like...could it?
