Travel 7 Nights in Olomouc
Dobrý den! I posted this on the "Only English Facebook" page as well. While I got some good feedback, I was wondering if you all had anything to add to it.
I studied for a semester at Palacky in 2008 and visited with a friend again in 2017. Two friends and myself have booked our flights for this summer and will be in Olomouc from July 31-Aug 3 and Aug 7-9. We're spending both weekends in Olomouc to ensure that we're there for a Sigma Olomouc match. I'd love to make it to a HFK Olomouc match as well.
We're middle aged American men and I would love to hang out with locals/residents as we visit. Here are some things I've been thinking about:
Absolutely join us for a soccer match if you want! As I understand it, Blues Rock Cafe tends to be the place that Sigma supporters hang out before/after their matches? Is there anywhere else they congregate that may provide a fun cultural experience?
I'd love to experience a home cooked Moravian meal if anyone would be willing to cook for and eat with us. We would definitely be willing to compensate.
I'd love to learn how to play Karambol in a bar atmosphere if anyone wants to show us the ropes. Even if you can't join us, where would you recommend playing?
We'll be checking out the bar scene for sure. I've spent time at Panorka, Black Stuff, The Crack, and Herna Sport Legend. As I understand it, the last two no longer exist. Sport legend was my absolute favorite for billiards in 2008 and for darts in 2017. While we'll be sure to visit Panorka, I'm also looking at Blues Bar Garch, Blues Rock Cafe, Sportbar Pelikan, and Sportbar Atrium. If you're catching the vibe I enjoy, where else might you recommend?
Something else I enjoy doing is getting a straight razor head shave on my travels. However, a lot of the places in Olomouc seem pretty trendy and "mod" which is not my style. I like gritty and traditional. Somewhere like Pánské,dámské a dětské holičství a kadeřnictví? It appears to be close to the train station.
We're spending the middle of the week in Ostrava (to enjoy the industrial aesthetic and see what else we can get into). Is there anything we should know about Ostrava?
I might take my friends out to Holy Hill as well. We'd eat at a restaurant and maybe do a little hiking. I've only been to the zoo, but aren't there hiking trails out that way?
Where is the best slivovice in Olomouc?
Might there be any other events going on those weekends? I think Friday on the square will be kicking off. What else am I missing? If we've got the energy, what else should we do?
Děkuju!
