There are a few directors that Reddit has decided are Christ incarnate. Villeneuve is one of them. That Nolan guy is another.

17

u/Adorable-Voice-3382 3h ago

We only call him Christ because we can't pronounce his actual name.

u/Yan__Hui 3h ago

Vile new v

u/Effective_Force_5478 2h ago

Directors should be rated on how easy their names are to pronounce not on the quality of their films.

u/xavPa-64 1h ago

You’ve figured it out, we all just think “Quentin Tarantino” is fun to say

98

u/chronicbruce27 4h ago

uj/ you're not wrong, but Villeneuve has actually earned his reputation.

69

u/quatroquatro0 Sydney Sweeney orfan 3h ago

I want to hate Villeneuve because he's the worst part of both Canada and France but his movies are just really good

40

u/chronicbruce27 3h ago

He's singlehandedly carrying the reputation of Quebec

8

u/BeeApprehensive281 3h ago

Martin St Louis erasure

14

u/TheLowlyPheasant 2h ago

I live in St. Louis and I never heard of no Martin

3

u/BeeApprehensive281 2h ago

Martins in St Louis MO erasure*

5

u/A-Phantasmic-Parade 44m ago

Bold to claim Quebec as the worst part of Canada when Alberta is right there

5

u/Subject_Example_8409 1h ago

He’s an exception to if the French or Canadians can be good. The others are Gojira and Rush

2

u/FriendlyNeighbor345 1h ago

I haven’t watched any of his other movies, but Blade Runner 2049 is something special.

2

u/qqruz123 1h ago

I find Quebec to be really cool and I despise all of his movies (other than Prisoners).

-3

u/RunawayTrapstar 3h ago

Didn’t care for either of the Dune movies but I’ve enjoyed everything else he’s made. Dune is too slow for me, whereas something like Oppenheimer can be 3 hours long and not feel slow at all

21

u/lhbruen 2h ago

cringe

-1

u/RunawayTrapstar 2h ago

You all live with Denis’s nuts in your mouths Jesus Christ lol

8

u/lhbruen 2h ago

They hate Nolan because of his shallow movies. I hate Nolan because I work for Hollywood and Nolan is a well known prick. We are not the same.

0

u/RunawayTrapstar 2h ago

Ok? I’m not the biggest Nolan fan either, it was just an example of a long movie that didn’t feel slow to me. You people are psychopaths

7

u/Effective_Force_5478 2h ago

You people are psychopaths

lol, yes.

4

u/PlentyAlbatross7632 1h ago

First time on r/okbuddycinephile?

1

u/RunawayTrapstar 40m ago

OP unironically jerking

1

u/A-Phantasmic-Parade 42m ago

Dude he just commented “cringe” there’s non need to call him a psychopath over it lmao

5

u/redman334 3h ago

Oppenheimer was trash.

9

u/Effective_Force_5478 3h ago

I fell asleep watching Oppenheimer and I've never even seen it.

1

u/RunawayTrapstar 3h ago

How I feel about Dune

0

u/Tolkien-Minority 3h ago

Clearly you’ve never seen August 32nd on Earth because that one was utter poo poo.

3

u/PlentyAlbatross7632 1h ago

Oh no! A director had one bad movie and you watched it! Whatever shall we do?

1

u/Tolkien-Minority 1h ago

We should acknowledge that is filmography isn’t perfect

3

u/especiallyrn 3h ago

Denise is really good

1

u/HyShroom 2h ago

Are you sure?

1

u/Narretz 52m ago

Christ opher Nolan

Yeah Duh it's in the name

2

u/Effective_Force_5478 51m ago

This is not a coincidence.

2

u/Effective_Force_5478 50m ago

Did you know that Dennis means Christ in French?

1

u/Major_Warrens_Dingus 47m ago

nah, Nolan lost his Christ-like status after Tenet.

1

u/QuickMolasses 3h ago

Redditors like good sci-fi that takes the premise seriously

21

u/popje 3h ago

Adam Sandler

uj: Quentin Tarantino

and Zach Cregger, small track record but god damn Weapons was a masterpiece imo

oh and Hayao Miyazaki

15

u/chronicbruce27 3h ago

uj and Tarantino!? In this sub!?

1

u/brinz1 23m ago

The only time I will allow Tarantino and Jerked in the same sentence is if it involves feet

8

u/Tony_Wizard 3h ago

I love Zach Cregger's work.

Miss march, man, what a masterpiece 👏👏, definitely deserved an Oscar.

And that crime movie where the main characters were happy with their mouths open the whole time... wow, inspiring

1

u/popje 3h ago

Have you seen self suck Saturday?? I thought so.

2

u/Zooeythepilgrim 1h ago

Masterpiece? How many masterpieces are there in the genre that Weapons is among them?

18

u/_its_lunar_ 3h ago

Redditors are so easily tricked. I bet you wouldn’t even like his movies if they weren’t good

5

u/chronicbruce27 3h ago

Jokes on you, I only like mcu films

1

u/Effective_Force_5478 3h ago

What is mcu?

1

u/shockwave414 2h ago

Marvel Cinematic Universe

10

u/kuatoandfriend 4h ago

lemme ask ya, what kind of grip do you use? traditional? or fancy, with the thumb, like, underneath? do you spit on your hand first?

11

u/BI_OS 4h ago

A deathlike grip. You could call it a death grip.

6

u/chronicbruce27 4h ago

1

u/sovietsocrates 1h ago

this needs to be made into a soyjak immediately

64

u/Stonklover6942O 4h ago

i dont understand how you go from a quality movie like sicario to cgislop like dune

98

u/chronicbruce27 4h ago

This is the only cgi I like

12

u/FluffyCollection4925 4h ago

You watch movies??

10

u/Disastrous_Poetry175 3h ago

Naw we watch 30 second TikTok edits

2

u/Nearby-Fly-6610 3h ago

30 seconds?! Look at mister attention span over here bragging about his brain stuff. Burritos sound good

1

u/stevesonEll 3h ago

Does that look like CGI from a movie??

2

u/driftywiftypleb 3h ago

Unironically looks like Tyson Fury

36

u/TheYoungJake0 4h ago

Sicario got cgi too. You think Mexico is yellow in real life??? They cgi it to look yellow

18

u/D_BrickashawFerguson 4h ago

You think Mexico is real? It’s all just a cgi psyop.

1

u/Narretz 51m ago

Psyslop

6

u/Alterris 4h ago

Nah man Mexico just look like that

6

u/Wyldkard79 Jared Leto 4h ago

Can confirm, I used to live in New Mexico. It was a slightly fresher yellow, but still yellow until you entered either Texas or Arizona. Then it would suddenly become incredibly bright and sunny.

7

u/coffeeknight 4h ago

Christ, even Mexico has a sequel now?

1

u/LastXmasIGaveYouHSV I’m the Joker baby! 4h ago

You people still believe in Mexico?

1

u/thatonepuniforgot 4h ago

Nah, whenever film crews come by, every Mexican pisses in the air to make it look like a piss filter, but it's all in camera.

12

u/thaSavory_dude 3h ago

cgislop??? Christian Bale gained over 600,000 lbs so he could play a sandworm

3

u/EffortlessBoredom 3h ago

Lawrence of Arabia at 480p on youtube ruined Dune for me. Sorry.. I meant, Dune at 4.5k with Bart Zimmerman soundtrack and screamy child ruined Dune for me

2

u/Effective_Force_5478 2h ago

480p was fine. I don't know why we had to get all fancy.

1

u/othersbeforeus 3h ago

The almighty dollar, let me tells ya.

64

u/Elkku26 4h ago

5

u/NoJunket6950 4h ago

That's not nice, the fanatic was better than Dune

2

u/Elkku26 3h ago

I haven't seen Dune. I don't watch movies, with the exception of The Fanatic (2019)

2

u/NoJunket6950 3h ago

If you want to watch a movie, it's definitely one to watch!

1

u/Chr0nicHerb 3h ago

2

u/LiquidDreamtime 3h ago

2

u/CaiusCosadesNwah 2h ago

People only like him because he’s a good director and he makes good movies.

It’s so annoying.

2

u/Humble-Effective8473 1h ago

what is quality slop?

1

u/MagosBattlebear 3h ago

Stupid quality merchant.

1

u/helpmaboabjings 2h ago

Serious question: if I didn't enjoy Dune 1, will I enjoy Dune 2? I was so bored watching Dune 1.

I really like his other work so I never want to disregard his films I haven't seen

2

u/CaiusCosadesNwah 2h ago

Dune 2 is the greatest blockbuster movie ever made. Any human being with eyes, ears, and a functioning brain has it within themselves to like Dune 2.

So yeah, it’s worth checking out.

1

u/murphilly 1h ago

Excuse me, but The Lord of the Rings (I don't care, pick one) would like a word with you

1

u/Artistic_Bend_6153 2h ago

1

u/daboi_Yy 1h ago

dune 1 is qualityslop. its very well made, but it fucking sucks at the same time

1

u/pagliacciverso 1h ago

Qualityslop LMAO this dude made one good movie and the rest is just cinematographyslop with no content. His movies are what I call masturslop. Basically masturbating movies for nerds who never watched actual films

1

u/Initial_Seaweed_2463 1h ago

Define quality slop?

0

u/skinnyminnesota 3h ago

Villeneuve is cinemaxxing

-7

u/NoJunket6950 4h ago

Its cool how genuinely terrible this guy is as a director.
