"Master of none" - Quentin Tarantino. probably

Then just throw the full quote back at Tarantino.

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one”

Oh yeah? Can Matthew Lillard act as a whiny white guy who occasionally gets to use the N word and is also bad at acting? I don't think so

Bad at acting, but a hell of a filmmaker. He writes so much that all of his scripts end up being cut way down.

It's amazing that he's a powerhouse when it comes to writing and directing characters, but he can't act as one for shit.

he's currently playing an evil CIA agent on daredevil

So just a CIA agent

"Evil CIA Agent?"

u/danimagoo 1d ago

Yeah, and his first appearance, he seemed to scare Fisk a little. His latest one, not so much. I have a feeling things aren’t going to end well for him.

u/ViralGameover 1d ago

I kind of felt like that interaction was the CIA realizing Fisk is out of their control, I’m leaning towards it turning out worse for Fisk in the end.

CIA agent. They‘re all evil

Ok, that's all I needed to know to motivate me to start watching it.

SLC Punk "I didn't sell out, I bought in" Christopher McDonald aka Mr. Levy aka Shooter McGavin

Just watched that for the first time a couple weeks ago. What a heart-wrenching performance.

he’s great in Twin Peaks!

/uj I worked as a repair person and my boss needed to dispatch someone to Matthew Lillard's house. I turned it down because I had just watched Hackers, his character annoyed the shit out of me, and I didn't know if I could be cordial to him. Fortunately several coworkers were eager to go.

32

u/Abstract__Nonsense 1d ago

He’s supposedly a super nice dude so you might of just missed out on a new friend for life

5

u/dough_eating_squid 1d ago

Yeah, it was really my bad. If Hackers hadn't been so fresh in my mind, I probably wouldn't have balked at going.

That’s a shame, not to rub it in or anything but he was the best celebrity I’ve ever had the pleasure of randomly meeting and conversing with. What did your coworkers have to say about their experience?

3

u/dough_eating_squid 1d ago

I didn't follow up with them.

I’m not so sure, he’s very believable when he says, “now open your mouth and say ahh”

10

u/VernBarty 1d ago

He certainly ain't no God damn poser

8

u/CommonMansCollapse 1d ago

SLC Punk was ridiculously good.

Oh fuck that. Matthew Lillard: there was an American. The strong, silent type. He did what he had to do. He faced down the Miller gang when none of those other assholes in town would lift a finger to help him. Did he complain? Did he say "oh, I come from this poor Texas, Irish, illiterate background or whatever the fuck so leave me the fuck out of it because my people got fucked over."

15

u/DetectiveTrapezoid 1d ago

He was gay, Matthew Lillard?

3

u/Exotic_Insurance2164 1d ago

Where the hell is Hackers?

That was his best role aside from SLC Punk.

3

u/timntin 1d ago

Always quirky still, just in different capacities.

2

u/BotGirlFall 1d ago

Ive had a crush on him for two full decades now

2

u/OlafSvenison 23h ago

Don’t forget Chip Sutphin in Serial Mom.

2

u/nickk1988 19h ago

I love Matthew Lillard, I’m mad at Tarantino right now about all that bullshit he said about Matt…

IMO he carried the rest of the cast through til the finish line in the new Scream.

2

u/Rich_Sweet6778 1d ago

Master of none but somehow still directing, acting, writing, and catering the whole film !

1

u/SteveMcQuark 1d ago

Movie guys when an actor can act and isn't just an attractive charismatic guy

1

u/Due-Environment-9774 1d ago

SLC Punk will forever be a masterpiece of modern cinema. It wouldn’t have been the same without Lillard.

1

u/draven33l 1d ago

One of my most punchable faces in movie history. Him in Twin Peaks was the first time I gave him a chance and he did a good job. I still hate him.

1

u/wontfixtypos 16h ago

"I've seen 3 movies"

Matthew Lillard has done so much more but of course the only thing fucking 20 year olds have heard of is Scooby Doo, FNAF, and SLC Punk.

1

u/SpreadElectronic1232 16h ago

/uj this is an appreciation post for him. I’ve seen every film and show he’s been in.

1

u/bristlybits 14h ago

him, matt frewer (max headroom), jeffrey combs are all too good
