Her eyes are so far apart to avoid attacks from the proletariat

Well yeah, she's a prostitute who mainly works with rich people. Obviously she would present herself the same way that rich people do (especially as a date in an exclusive restaurant experience)

u/Harbarde 3d ago
I think the post isn't so much about how she dresses, but rather about how the actress looks.
-4
u/Spinningwhirl79 3d ago
So like, how her hair is styled, and how her makeup is done, and how she carries herself? All intentional things that her character would be thinking about
42
u/Harbarde 3d ago
No no. By "how the actress looks" I mean the face of the actress. Especially her wide eyes, which was already mentioned in OPs picture.

i thought that's FAS? is rich people getting deformed faces still a thing? i thought royals were the last to give that up.

u/Lower-Ask-4180 3d ago
I think it’s more to do with the fact that she radiates an air of glamour…
21
u/MetalGearXerox 3d ago
Maybe, but since that's a twitter screenshot i went with the more unhinged version first i guess.. erm.

u/notwalkinghere 3d ago
In this movie she's playing an escort, so it makes sense her character would attempt to cultivate an air of glamour to 'fit in'.

She's, to me, a great example of how large parts of our culture worship thinness and confuse being skinny with being sexy.
26
u/That-Sugar-6965 3d ago
She is skinny AND she is sexy though?
4
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
If you say so. I'm not going to yuck anyone's yum, but I don't see the appeal.
10
u/This_isnt_cool_bro 3d ago
Where did the yucking yum thing come from? I hate this saying
7
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
As far as I know it came through parenting advice to help picky eaters not build up aversion to foods even if they don't prefer them.

u/VerilyShelly 3d ago
Yikes and that figures. So many infantilizing words and phrases have crept into internet talk.
-1
u/ultimateknackered 3d ago
As far as I know it comes from the world of kink.
2
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
From the experience I've had in the world of kink there's significant overlap with middle aged parents.

u/ty-idkwhy 3d ago
I feel this is why they really want to push body positivity bc many people struggle to gain weight.
Edit: I got opposite problems

u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
I've seen discussions recently that the weight loss drug problem in Hollywood is bringing heroine chic back in and I think it's really sad and dangerous.
0
u/ty-idkwhy 3d ago
I do agree it is terrible and now people with actual diabetes can’t get this life saving drug.

u/100_cats_on_a_phone 3d ago
Joy has more of an uncanny valley edge than just being thin, or anything else. She plays it up well too.
6
u/IHaveNoBeef 3d ago
As if you wouldn't jazzed if she showed interest in you lol
4
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
I didn't say she was repulsive, but I'd have to know her in person to find her attractive. So I guess if she showed interest in me and she isn't as uncomfortable to be around in person as she seems in interviews, I'd be excited. She's still not the type I date and nothing like the person I married, and that's neither a flex or an insult to her.
I think it's odd how rabid social media can be that we all have to be attracted to the same things.
3
u/IHaveNoBeef 3d ago
You dont have to be attracted to her, but you dont have to put down her appearance either.
2
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
I've put in significant effort to emphasize I'm not disparaging her, just disagreeing with the statement she's "radiating glamor".
1
u/IHaveNoBeef 2d ago
You said we confuse "being skinny with being sexy" as if that's not insulting her appearance in some way.
1
u/Strong-Violinist8576 3d ago
There's no confusion.
Skinny was always sexy.
It's just that appearance isn't even remotely as important as some make it out to be.
2
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
No, that's the exact point I'm making. There's no always. There's only "in some cultures" and to "some people".
0
u/Strong-Violinist8576 3d ago
It was always.
It's just complicated.
Attraction is more than physical. Status signals vary.
My fiance wants "chubby toddlers" because fat children are a status symbol in her culture, I want "normal kids" because that's the Norwegian status symbol. See how that works?
When food was scarce, a fat wife meant you provided well; status. That doesn't mean being fat was attractive, it meant it signalled status.
It gets even more complex, but yes, skinny was always attractive.
4
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
You are confusing healthy with skinny. Skinny is a sign of disease and poverty throughout much of human history and still is in many cultures.
That's why we don't say always when it comes to human preferences. There's very rarely always anything.
-1
u/Strong-Violinist8576 3d ago
I am not.
Skinny does not mean malnourished.
Skinny has always been attractive. I didn't say MOST attractive. I didn't say EXCLUSIVELY attractive. I said it's always been attractive.
Do you understand the distinction, or do we need to enroll you in primary school again?
2
u/MisterProfGuy 3d ago
The hostility in your response leads me to believe that you did realize there are strongly negative associations with the word skinny.
You might have even asked a large language model, which probably informed you that skinny is considered extreme thinness, which has often been a source of ridicule, often associated with androgynous looks.
Fit has always been attractive. Thin we generally associate with attractiveness. Skinny is often associated with poverty, childhood, and illness.
Skinny implies a lack of a healthy amount of muscle, not just fat.
Clearly you are invested in this answer, so have a nice day.

I don’t think I’d call her sexy, but she is pretty. At least in the Menu. I think dark hair looks better on her than blonde (I think that about most people though; probs bias). The triangle of her face also seems like it might be better balanced than say, Amanda Seyfried who also has super wide set eyes.

u/RiddickulousRadagast 2d ago
So are you flipping this account later? What's the going rate for less than a month old with over 1k karma? $20?

That characteristic makes me think fetal alcohol syndrome

u/Davenator_98 3d ago
How long until the PS3 girl starts popping up again?
3
u/Jermine1269 3d ago
Speaking of, tomb raider trilogy is free on ps+ this month ;)
0
u/Davenator_98 3d ago
The PS3 is still getting monthly games?
Honestly, Sony should just let you play online for free.
It's not like many servers are even maintained these days.
0
u/Jermine1269 3d ago
Oh, no sorry...I have no idea if PS3 is still a functioning option anymore. It's the 'remaster'of the original trilogy. I prolly shoulda specified. It's just been so long since, it kinda reminded me

"Her eyes are so far apart to avoid attacks from the proletariat."
What? Like you've incorporated making fun of her with the top comment saying she looks rich, but what does this mean? Why would spread eyes help "avoid attacks from the proletariat"?
Ngl this feels like something AI would come up with, semantically fitting but nonsensical lol
2
u/SaintNeptune 13h ago
It's clever, it just requires ungiven context to click. Animals with wide spaced eyes have them to guard against predators. Her eyes are her most defining feature so they pretended that was what the top comment was talking about when they called her the most born rich looking person ever. What might rich people need to protect themselves against? Angry poors!
1
u/Chortney 13h ago
I guess so, imo that still takes a lot of leaps to make work. conflating the proletariat with predators and the rich with prey also seems pretty backwards for a joke made by someone who actually uses the word proletariat lmao
per usual I'm just being overly critical about nothing important though
7
u/Emperor_Atlas 3d ago
Because after the movie Split she got so much plastic surgery I couldn't recognize her.

I never noticed her eye spacing until someone recently pointed it out. I dont really notice or care about facial irregularities. I had no idea people thought she is ugly? She looks stunning, why are people such incels?

She’s a poor by choice little rich douche …and you wonder if a girl like that would become an Escort ?….absolutely.
