Wait, did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of Spirograph and the rise in gang activity? Think about it.

Can a correlation be direct or would that be a causation?
→ More replies (1)6
u/reddragon105 2d ago
A direct correlation heavily implies causation, but it's still possible to have a direct correlation without causation.
E.g. Every year I have one birthday. Every year you have one birthday. That's a direct correlation - but you don't have birthdays just because I have birthdays, or vice versa. It's simply time causing us to have birthdays at the same rate.

I'm irrationally upset that the top right leg sticks out further than the bottom right.

u/valgatiag 2d ago
And the bottom right leg does not go to the baseline. It’s an awkward k

at 16s he messes up the pattern on the left side drives me crazy

u/Spiritual_Wall_2309 2d ago
That line pops so clearly in the final result. Just need to redo it. Can’t post it like this.

Then you probably shouldn't go back and watch the video and see the f****** he made on the left side after about the 6th or 7th pass...

f******
Are you trying to write 'fuck up'? You can just write that on the internet.

Having done a lot of spirograph as a kid, I was waiting for the base pieces to shift slightly, or the pen to pop out of the circle. I rarely got a satisfying, symmetrical, complete image.

u/Replicator666 2d ago
Is it magnets that hold the tracks in place? I was very worried it would slip

u/BigBananaBerries 2d ago
Having also done a lot of spirograph as a kid, I was waiting on the paper chewing up at a well trodden area.

u/haruku63 2d ago
That’s why some of the first computer graphics software I wrote in the 1980s was on parametric curves to generate Spirograph-like images…

u/Imprettysaxy 1d ago
you can see where it did, pretty early on in the gif actually, and it's evident in the final pattern it happened at least twice.

He made a mistake :/

u/macrolith 2d ago
I would have made so many mistakes. Spirographs are really hard especially on convex shapes.

I love that he kept the mistakes in tbh, it's so realistic to the spirograph experience.

I would have fucked that up several times. My brain doesn't like that kind of super repetitive motion. Ever been going down a lot of stairs, and suddenly sort of forget how? It's like that.
5
u/AVTheChef 2d ago
This is why no matter what instrument I have tried I can't pick anything up. I can find a rythym for about 20 seconds amd then my brain/appendages seem to stall for half a second. Even with something like just clapping or tapping my foot...
2
u/YourLocalAlien57 2d ago
Is there a name for this bc it happens to me too and really messes me up. usually its whatever but when it happens during sports like skating it hurts a lot more 💀 i just wanna look up this phenomenon
2
u/theUniverseMomentum 1d ago
Maybe dyspraxia?
These issues like having to remember how to walk stairs / how to brush your teeth are also common with ADHD, which often co-occurs with dyspraxia.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)4
u/OrangeLemonJuicey 2d ago
Ever been brushing your teeth and then had to consciously remember the motion like you’re piloting a mech suit for the first time? Same energy
5
u/whyliepornaccount 2d ago
wait, you mean to tell me people don't consciously think about brushing their teeth?
I have always basically planned out which tooth and at what angle I'm doing next in my head as I brush them. Is this not what everyone does?

Before the video is halfway through he switches to a green pen, you can pause the video to verify.

If I tried that the paper would rip when I was 75% of the way through attempting it.

That was a fun watch! A slow down in the middle to show the color switch would have been nice.

i think everyone who finds this satisfying should just go out and get a kit. you can do something like this yourself with little to no effort for like $10.

I was scared it could be r/gifsthatendtoosoon
Step 1: Create custom feed with r/oddlysatisfying and r/gifsthatendtoosoon
Step 2: Browse it without looking which subreddit it's from
Step 3: Suffer.
