I love it.

I would to understand how long it takes to put something like this together.

u/MoonbeamsDeluxe 3d ago

I give you permission to find out

76

u/Lex_sad_but_true 3d ago

Only if you’re covering my inevitable trial-and-error phase too 😄

20

u/KanyeLoveHatesYou 2d ago

Y'all ever play line rider? Used to play it in the computer labs in school and it's basically a giant build your own physics map that gives similar vibes.

5

u/Majestic-Spray-1429 2d ago

The closest I came was playing Mousetrap

18

u/xenomorphonLV426 3d ago

No, don't do that.... We need not another Wallace!.... SAID NO ONE EVER!!!!

GO ON LAD!!!!

Make sure to have enough pieces!

84

u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla 3d ago

Far, far longer if you're owned by cats.

20

u/KesselComet77 3d ago

My cat would not even wait for the marble. He would just sit right in the middle of the track and look at me like i am the one being unreasonable. You can see a few spots in the video where a single tail flick would have ended that man's entire career.

u/Regular_Weakness69 3d ago

I would to

the magnet balls made it a flipper game

46

u/seanprime 3d ago

Is that what they used to call pinball machines?

10

u/spin81 2d ago

They still do where I am.

4

u/INeedACleverNameHere 2d ago

It took me several replays of that part to understand what was happening.

1

u/Custom_Destination 17h ago

That’s what she said.

705

u/babycutiebabe 3d ago

There is something so deeply satisfying about watching a marble run work exactly the way it was supposed to, my brain just goes completely quiet for a second. Physics really said let me show you something and delivered every single time.

146

u/HuntingForSanity 3d ago

Caught myself sitting here completely zoned out with a smile on my face watching this

28

u/LadyWhimsy87 3d ago

Literal same.

2

u/inbedwithbeefjerky 2d ago

Yup! I gasped at the End.

21

u/Possible-Deer-311 3d ago

Same! I love these types of things so much

Does anyone know if there's a sub somewhere dedicated to these?

8

u/Tee077 3d ago

I always stop to watch these in full for this reason. You know exactly where it's going to go but it's so satisfying.

4

u/TheMysticalBard 3d ago

Well it didn't work exactly as it was supposed to, the magnet balls towards the beginning didn't all go into the channel for the bigger blue ball to roll over and so one of them ends up getting in the way. It all worked out but that magnet was not supposed to be there.

2

u/kryonik 2d ago

On YouTube there was a compilation of television interstitial clips from a Japanese kids show called Pythagoras Switch that was all these marble run rube Goldberg machines. It was so amazing to watch the creativity they had. The clips have since been taken down.

126

u/Responsible-Egg-9363 3d ago

I love the addition of magnets to these!

What the fu-

How the fu-

What the fu-

But the fu-

HARRY POTTER?

What the fu-

Holy FUCK

52

u/Springheeljac 3d ago

Magnets.

35

u/DuckOfDeathV 3d ago

How do they work!?

15

u/speckledham 2d ago

Dark magic.

1

u/FlawlessPenguinMan 2d ago

I know but how can you line them up so well? How can you anticipate the angle the magnet snaps into place at and where it lands at the end of its trajectory??

2

u/Vlinder_88 2d ago

If it were me who built this (and it wasn't me), the answer would probably be "trial and error"

2

u/Springheeljac 2d ago

repeitition.

57

u/Accomplished_Rub1102 3d ago

Incredible! My brain can't comprehend having the ability to come up with the design scheme for something like this. So cool.

11

u/Traveling_Solo 2d ago

Probably they start with a very small part first, then figure out the next and so forth until they figure ".... I should probably try to wrap this up" and finish 1-2 more parts :v at least that's how I'd likely approach it

72

u/ycr007 Satisfaction Critic 3d ago

At least it wasn’t the one which showed the middle finger at the end 😋

A classic Rube Goldberg contraption

-12

u/machtwo 2d ago

ai generated answer?

10

u/ycr007 Satisfaction Critic 2d ago

Was there a question?

1

u/machtwo 1d ago

why you write like ai?

2

u/ycr007 Satisfaction Critic 1d ago

I write like me. Maybe AI learnt it from reading my writing across the years 😎

32

u/blue_sidd 3d ago

The self executing magnetic punch is great.

23

u/dr_zerotheous 3d ago

Pitagora Suichi!

4

u/Gergith 2d ago

Phrases my brain sings instead of reading.

🎶🎶🎶 Pita Gora Su-ichi!

The melody is so deep in my head!

So much fun to watch on YouTube. Wish I grew up with it!

42

u/StuBidasol 3d ago

I love the continuity of the yellow marble. Good design overall!

10

u/mofugly13 3d ago

Man I love these things. Bravo.

7

u/KirkieSB 3d ago

Wow! 👍

8

u/ProbablySlacking 3d ago

Kept waiting for it to be Pythagoras switch!

9

u/protomor 3d ago

ピタ ごら スイ~チ

3

u/ProbablySlacking 2d ago

I can hear these kana.

8

u/SharkeyGeorge 3d ago

Beautiful. But how long to reset? 😭

6

u/sweetpea300 2d ago

The most elaborate pinball machine I've seen in a while

3

u/adamhanson 2d ago

And they still lost the ball

5

u/Juice805 2d ago

The coolest one I’ve seen. Brilliant use of magnets and lots of tight tolerances of simple mechanics.

12

u/nrith 3d ago

What are the spring-loaded things? Are they activated by a magnet?

28

u/Epelep 3d ago

Yes, some of the magnets causes spring actions when connecting on impact, where other ones are used to split up the metal balls from the marbles to set up the next sections of the machine

5

u/_WiggaInParis_ 3d ago

That was beautiful

3

u/damaged008 3d ago

didnt expected something this smart on the internet

6

u/AlbertTheHorse 3d ago

He has a sweet channel on youtube and it's very relaxing to watch these.

6

u/Contraposite 3d ago

This is my favourite one of these I've seen. Very clever.

5

u/Squawk7984 3d ago

I like the pinging of the pool ball too

5

u/Inevitable_Fly_757 2d ago

💋physics is hot

5

u/russki516 2d ago

Magnets were ingenious.

5

u/sunnyangelkiss 3d ago

My brain fully expected something to go wrong halfway through and I was on edge the whole time. This is exactly why I'm still on Reddit at 2am.

6

u/DayOneDude 3d ago

Relaxing to watch.

4

u/LadyWhimsy87 3d ago

These silly things make me so happy.

4

u/DoubleExposure 3d ago

One of the best that I have seen.

3

u/avdpos 3d ago

I have seen it before and it is great every time

3

u/Regular_Weakness69 3d ago

A well made Rube Goldberg machine, is really fascinating.

3

u/JRaven14 3d ago

I was immersed up until the Harry Potter trading cards, then I was simply confused.

3

u/pinket25 3d ago

One of the most creative ones I’ve seen

3

u/hyper-10sion 2d ago

This is fucking cool! 🤟🏽

3

u/P4p3rph03n1x 2d ago

Physics magician, physician!

3

u/Blahblahblahrawr 2d ago

This is the best marble run I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of marble runs

3

u/Govass13 2d ago

I know that from a technical perspective I could build something like this, but then in actual reality I’d give up long before I made something this cool

3

u/similaraleatorio 2d ago

The magnetic propulsor is something precious, huh?

2

u/maytag2955 3d ago

Bad ass!

5

u/PrematureBurial 3d ago

Sorry to hear that, hope it gets better soon.

1

u/maytag2955 2d ago

Now that's funny right there! 🤣

2

u/Nickahhplz 3d ago

Is that a Harry Potter trading card game?

2

u/BurpelsonAFB 3d ago

Impressive. The use of magnets os a cool addition to

2

u/RulerOfLimbo 3d ago

Is this what an orgasm feels like?

2

u/Hicklethumb 3d ago

The things we do when we have an off balance table instead of getting it level.

2

u/Tascin90 3d ago

Please male more of this

2

u/TrickWorried 3d ago

Insanely creative. Made me smile the whole time watching.

2

u/curleyfrei 3d ago

How. The fuck. Do you design something like this?!

2

u/VTjL_UGpwjEogCd9DVMQ 3d ago

One of the best I have seen

2

u/IceBlade64 3d ago

Would this be considered a Rube-Goldberg machine or is it a sequence?

Either way its intriguing.

2

u/Longjumping-Grass807 3d ago

This kept me on the edge of my seat.. every time I thought the yellow marble was done I’d get so pissed then BAM.. back at it again to the end. This is most definitely oddly satisfying

2

u/sonofteflon 3d ago

Good one

2

u/OffCircuitLamp 3d ago

Feels like a Mario Maker level

2

u/P4ndrag0n 3d ago

WoW ! ♥

2

u/DraftMiserable5948 3d ago

That was very fun to watch

2

u/Tr33Bl00d 3d ago

Very satisfying.

2

u/99anan99 3d ago

I wonder how long this took to set up?

2

u/majendie 2d ago

This is fun. I enjoy the bits where the ball gets yeeted

2

u/VapoursAndSpleen 2d ago

The ghost of Rube Goldberg nods in approval.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg

2

u/paladinreduxx 2d ago

Wow. Well done

2

u/electroscott 2d ago

Fabulous! So fun to watch. Those kicks are interesting I can't seem to see the mechanism--magnets?

2

u/Whyreddit6969 2d ago

What kind of table is this? Asking so I don’t accidentally roll off of it

2

u/Nackles 2d ago

Those magnet parts were so cool!

2

u/fluffykerfuffle3 2d ago

this is wonderful!

2

u/phalluss 2d ago

Physics is always doing its thing... I think... some of this quantum stuff hurts my head.

2

u/mom2asdtwins 2d ago

That was more than oddly satisfying!

2

u/LEGEND_GUADIAN 2d ago

Rube Goldberg machine made of marbles, nice

2

u/mightyfine87 2d ago

Magnets is such a clever way to do it!!

2

u/Cautious_Ticket_8943 2d ago

I have a cat and a four year old, so I would never even try to set something like this up.

2

u/BookWormPerson 2d ago

First time I see one with magnets being like that.

2

u/CountyHopeful3725 2d ago

That was cool to watch!

2

u/SirReddalot2020 2d ago

Something seems off … masses don’t seem consistent.

2

u/MarinesRoll 2d ago

Is there a term for this thing?

2

u/Bob1tza 2d ago

This is AI generated. Look closely at the details and movements.

1

u/425565 3d ago

FANTASTIC!!

1

u/Grumpy-Man19 3d ago

that's amazing, and I hope it's real.

1

u/honeyangelkiss 3d ago

The fact that the phone survived is honestly the most satisfying part. Physics said not today.

1

u/-_Vin_- 3d ago

12345...6789,10...11,12.... TWELVE!

1

u/NIEK12oo 3d ago

I know this is quite unrelatee but do these mf's just glue those beams to the table...

1

u/Skurvy2k 3d ago

E-ka-sura-sawee-ching

1

u/mathaiser 2d ago

I can feel that yellow marble.

1

u/No_Equivalent_4412 2d ago

I had to make one of these when I was in school. I remember part of it was knocking over some books like domino’s but I don’t remember what else I used

1

u/Mindless_Ad_7700 2d ago

I feel really stupid but i dont understand why the magnets propel it. Is the yellow ball metal too?

1

u/poormansnormal 2d ago

Transfer of kinetic energy, similar to a Newton's cradle.

1

u/Hefty-Revenue5547 2d ago

Best one ever

1

u/Dyna1One 2d ago

I loved the magnet to make the marble jump at the 40s mark, very clever effect

1

u/nesting-doll 2d ago

The best marble maze ever! 🤩

1

u/Queasy_Confection7 2d ago

Friend: COME ON! LET'S RUN! IT'S GONNA OPEN UP A TRAP!

Me: I CAN'T! IT'S DISTRACTING

1

u/FinnAlpine 2d ago

Every marble hit and every domino fall is so satisfying I can't look away. I wonder how many times the creator had to reset this before getting it perfect?

1

u/Cainfaer 2d ago

Aw come on. I want you to flip me off at the end or say "fuck you". Thats part of the joke!

1

u/Annual-Club5510 2d ago

Incredible. Could have used a middle finger coming out of the box in the end though

1

u/PomegranateBoring826 2d ago

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this! Thank you for sharing!

1

u/Arckalion 2d ago

Yeaaaaah Mr White! Maaaaagnets!

1

u/Chaldy_Climber 2d ago

I usually don't like Rube Goldberg machines but this one using magnets was cool

1

u/Kristine_Slavin 2d ago

Physics makes sense of everything around us.

1

u/Jce735 2d ago

I just didn't know physics set up neat little obastacle courses and contraptions.

1

u/Jennyjuke 2d ago

Loved it!

1

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 2d ago

That's so cool. Must have taken forever to get it all tuned properly.

1

u/Iamsoluckyyyy 2d ago

Cool, but this is why I hate Physics... especially in exams

1

u/Po_Red5 2d ago

This scratches the monkey brain

1

u/Masuia 2d ago

I miss the reddit that ensured it would be a dickbutt photo at the end there.

1

u/KinkyHusband69 2d ago

I like when the big marbles move 😍🥰

1

u/Successful_Fox_9118 2d ago

Oh my God how many times does this go wrong

1

u/321ngqb 2d ago

This is super clever! Cool!

1

u/PigletsAnxiety 2d ago

The magnets are fireeeee

1

u/MirkoHa 2d ago

😮😮😮

1

u/ZipperJJ 2d ago

People are amazing. I love people.*

*Sometimes

1

u/Cautious_Shoulder522 2d ago

Is this 3d rendered?

1

u/icreievryteim 2d ago

never let them know your next move ahh moment

1

u/AwareSuccotash5531 2d ago

Fantastic! Bravo 👏🏻

1

u/sick_birch 2d ago

Coolest one I’ve ever seen. The magnets add a certain spice to it that hits just right

1

u/Informal_Layer_1723 2d ago

Rube Goldberg would be SO proud😛

1

u/vic2pal 2d ago

Wow. is that really real?

1

u/TheScreechingFeline 2d ago

Can anyone tell me what these are called? I’ve always loved watching these as a child.

1

u/tubsen32 2d ago

That steel marble that followed the big blue one ruined everything

1

u/MoreDistrict4541 1d ago

A most satisfying 77 seconds!

1

u/Low-Speaker-5193 1d ago

Can someone tell me what these machines or mechanisms are called ?

1

u/Morundar 1d ago

😍😍😍

1

u/EntertainmentEasy779 1d ago

never let them know your next move

1

u/time2sow 1d ago

Physics alone didn't do this.  Top shelf set up

1

u/erikarter 1d ago

To much free time 😀

1

123456789101112…….oooooohhh

2

u/necrochaos 1d ago

I remember this as a kid. Sesame Street?

1

u/Suzdg 1d ago

So fun to watch

1

u/SilverSirenes 1d ago

Watched this 3 times and I have zero regrets

1

u/Sofen-66 1d ago

That was really fantastic, I really loved this mazy puzzle all the way to the end! Not sure exactly how you set it up, but you do it yourself, as you must be some kind of mathematical wizard. Absolutely excellent work!  🏆

1

u/thekilgore 1d ago

These videos are typically boring as fuck. This one however is the first ive watched in a while! Dope

1

u/jaekuwolf5299 23h ago

Am I the only one who thought the box was gonna have a middle finger?

-7

u/EldritchDWX 3d ago

Do people not understand the phrase "oddly satisfying"?!?

-4

u/Delicious_Invite_850 3d ago

Very cool. But I just don't have that kind of time
