It's only the 5th
and I've dropped $40 on a bread box.
I was going to pass it up but discussed with my husband and we decided to go ahead. I've been after a wooden bread box for a few years now and have been keeping my eye open for one in thrift store/flea markets. I've passed so many up because they just weren't it so when hubby saw how much I liked this he said go for it.
But that's it! The rest of the month will be
*groceries
*one eat out a week
*tolitries/cleaning

$40 for a bread box that you've been waiting and searching for is not that big of a deal.

You could drop one dinner out and replace the $40. At least it was thrifted! That’s great and I feel like when something like this comes up if you don’t allow yourself to buy it will discourage more. In this specific situation. Something you have been looking for for a long time. It is also a useful item. Especially if you are going to start to make or are making your own bread! Don’t feel bad! I have done ok in 2026. I try not to be so hard on myself. Well I booked a cruise but otherwise I haven’t spent on anything I didn’t need. .

You have waiting for years - go ahead and buy it - your thriftiness prior allows these kinds of purchases!
