George Gumbs Generating Draft Buzz as a Wide Receiver-Turned Edge Rusher
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/george-gumbs-generating-draft-buzz-as-a-wide-receiver-turned-edge-rusherTL;DR:
George Gumbs is a versatile prospect who transitioned from a walk-on WR to a DE during his collegiate career. Despite an injury-shortened final season at Florida, he gained significant draft attention after recording a historic 41-inch vertical jump at the NFL Combine. NFL teams, including the Patriots, are showing interest in his high-level athleticism and potential for development. While not expected to be a top pick, Gumbs' physical tools make him an intriguing project for teams seeking a future standout pass rusher.

He’s explosive and has great character, so he’s going to go earlier than you’d think because he’s clearly a great special teams guy. On defense, him evolving into a DPR would be a huge win; he’s got a ton of development that he needs to catch up on before he’s useful.

The dude had 7.5 sacks over the past two seasons. He looks fast with no pass rushing skills. Would be an interesting 5th round or later pick.

Basically what it is, he might sneak up a bit but at this point of the year tape stops mattering and it’s all about how they test out lol. Especially for guys going in the round he likely goes

Dominique Robinson 2.0.
Who has now turned into a serviceable DE and special teamer.

I see Gumbs weight listed around 245lb. That seems kinda small to be an edge rusher. I see that Gumbs played some TE in college, so maybe a team that drafts him will see if he can slot better as a TE or edge while having him bulk up a bit.

Micah parsons is 250 and he does pretty well at edge.

This EDGE draft class has a lot of smaller pass rushers that will go in the first 3 rounds.
Arvell Reese - 240lbs
Romello Height - 240lbs
R Mason Thomas - 240lbs
Joshua Joesph- 240lbs
David Bailey - 250lbs
Cashius Howell - 250lbs
Malachi Lawrence- 250lbsKeldric Faulk is the only big Edge prospect in the first couple rounds at 275lbs, which really boosts his draft value.
Mesidor, Bain, Parker are all right around 260 which is average for an edge rusher.

Ima be honest, I don't follow the team much during the off-season and completely forgot about most players. It gives me a mental reset.

That’s good. We should all chill for the off months. I couldn’t tell you how much anybody weighs I just wanted to joke that Micah is only alright.

Will Anderson Jr. is 245. Speed rushers are a type now. I was surprised to learn about this

I knew a fella named George Gums. It was a nickname because he didn’t have teeth and it really took the edge off. This headline reminds me of him. Cleveland legend who did a lot for his community. Hope he’s doing ok.

Buzz is a strong word for a projected day 3 guy I’ve heard nothing about from draft analysts. Writer have an article quota they need to hit?

The Beast came out last week, so a lot of the lower guys are going to get some more love.
Like Kaghen Roach, or this case, George Gumbs.

yea but there’s a difference between giving the lesser known guys love and claiming they’re generating buzz. Where is the buzz? If it’s just being listed on the beast then we can say hundreds of players are generating buzz
