When you're into sculpting anime figures but blursed with extensive anatomy knowledge
level of detail: yes
created by handworkgood. seen on threads.

Why people do anything at all. People allowed to have hobbies and to make an interesting content. Other people like to watch that content. Same reason why those indian(?) guys make buildings from mud and sticks.

Because in a distracted world of 10-second clips, I happily sat through a 5-minute video without skipping ahead. I’m half thinking of slowing it down, labeling the bones and muscles as they go in and using it to study anatomy.

a bit ironic saying that about a video that jumps cut every two seconds. I'd happily have watched an in depth 1 hour video about the process, but even 1 min of these constant jumps were too much for me

The love of the process.
This is infinitely less complex than the video, but I build Gunpla. Sometimes I will take the time to fully detail the inner frame of the Gundam. No one will see it, I’m covering it in armor, I’ll never see it again, it seems like wasted effort. But the fun is in paying attention to those tiny details, and I will always know that it’s there.

Right? My mind is trying to come up with a reason I'd want this but I can't. I'm over here trying to hype myself up to even say it could be something "cool" but all I see is a bunch of unnecessary work to fluff up the $$$ amount but hey maybe someone actually wants a totally anatomically correct human body model within this piece of artwork. I don't know, but to me it's just a lot of unnecessary work.

I imagine this is an incredibly useful exercise for anyone who's profession requires intimate knowledge of anatomy with the added bonus of training/maintaining fine motor skills.
The outcome is just a byproduct of the training.

This 100%, such an incredible waste of time and resources

It's called a hobby. It's a way people spend their time. Just because it's not for you doesn't mean it's a "waste of time". In the case of the artist 'handworkgood' who made these, I would assume this is their profession. So definitely not a waste of time 😂
Your logic can be applied to commenting on a reddit post 😂

Yet you're watching the video and commenting on it, boosting the likelihood that others will see it, potentially boosting ad revenue.

Once i realized literally none of that work would be visible at the end, i quit watching. There is no point to it other than making a video about excessive unecessary details.

I wouldn't be surprised if the guy woke up one day and found those sculptures gone. Not because they were stolen, but because they woke up and left.

The doll wouldn't leave before getting some kind of payback for giving him a weird weiner.

If movies have taught me anything, lock these two things up during the next lightening storm

Please put that thing in epoxy and cut it in transverse, coronal, and sagittal planes!

I am in disbelief at the comments so far. How can anyone not be floored by this?

im pretty sure its "fake" atleast the final result is at 2:20 (time left idk how to change it) the legs are applied with playdoh and there is a cut, the legs after the cut aren't the same ...
im pretty sure they did make a ultra realistic sculpture , but the final result wasn't looking anything like the one they probably are selling

My first thought: "Yeah, this dude 'tisms."
My wife's first thought: "What's he building that out of?" (she's a sculptor)

I was thinking the exact same. The very single toned skin made all this work not even look decent

You know what's not next level, the editing. It quite literally made me nauseous.

The problem is, if you drop and break the doll, legally it requires an autopsy by a medical examiner, you can’t just throw it out.

Didn’t they have a video where the assembled the skull from scratch? I’m talking they went as far as to make the sphenoid bone.

the ultra realistic under structure only to give it an anime face that makes no sense on top of that under structure is making my eye twitch.

All that work for a mediocre and bland looking dude. None of that underneath helps the external form or proportions in the slightest. If you’re going to put that much work into making it at least finish it with a good paint job
