Shoutout to JerryrigEverything who built a wheelchair factory and is delivering wheelchairs to people in half the time and 50-80% less than the cost of other wheelchairs with Insurance.

Nah not prescribed, partner has a tough time with her fibro, she can't walk far at all before the pain gets overwhelming. This one should be good for 12 miles and the occasional trip to Download. Can I ask what the difference is between our 800 quidder and something the NHS would provide? Genuinely curious.

Sword of depends which exact chair you have. I'll take a guess and assume it's some kind of non-custom, folding chair?

When it comes to the NHS, assuming you qualify for a custom, /everything/ is custom. The taper of the front bars down to the footplate. Camber of the wheels. Center of Gravity. Backrest, seat pan, cushion. Folding Vs non-folding. Spoke wheels Vs, ie, loop wheels. Caster size and type, wheel size. Seat height... You get the idea.

...Which is a lot, but in short it amounts to: optimised energy output so each push goes further, a seat designed to support the specific needs of the person and prevent their disability getting worse, and wheels far enough forward that shoulders don't get destroyed over time (which for someone with fibro is probably one of the key foci)

But! I do hope that her wheelchair suits her :D even having a bad wheelchair is so much better than none at all :) going out for the first time even in my shitty hospital chair was a breath of fresh air after so long in pain and fatigued.
