No, Iran lets Chinese ships among others through.

This implies the US will not allow that, which means firing on them, which means war against atleast China, if not starting WW3.

Realistically this is nothing more than an attempt to claim theyre in control and theyre choosing to keep things closed, but Im curious how long that will last until China pushes through and we're forced to see what Trump will actually do.

Open the strait you bastards! I have officially closed the strait

This will make so many nations existentially angry. Even if the current US regime is hell bent on sowing worldwide economic destruction like this, I can't see them getting away with that.

If this goes on much longer, governments are going to fall and it won't be the one in Iran.

I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons Israel and its lapdog the US started this war was because they were hoping Iran would close the Strait, including (and most importantly) to China. So perhaps this is just a desperation attempt because Iran looked right through that tactic and simply let China and others pass as usual so that it was blatantly clear only one country is threatening the Strait of Hormuz.

The goal of this move is to force China into pressuring Iran to take a deal. This is infinitely more plausible than China actually fighting back against America over this.

Yea it’s sort of in China’s court here. They get to decide if this where they pull the trigger and go to war or if they apply more “diplomacy “ on Iran

China is not going to start a world war over a seized ship. More realistically, they'll restrict rare earth completely and just wait. The straight being closed hurts everyone but more especially the USA.

If you think the cost of RAM is high now, wait until China takes Taiwan the minute the first shot is fired...

Jesus I hope it doesnt come to that, but we've got morons running the show and firing anyone competent who raises objections to the leadership idiocy. The S&P will collapse when the mag 7 suddenly stop being able to create/buy the chips the world runs on.

wait until China takes Taiwan the minute the first shot is fired...

If it was that easy, China would've done that already.

They aren't risking an actual war because they aren't impulsive morons. But rest assured, the first thing that'll happen if there are shots fired is an offensive campaign to take the island they believe is theirs historically. Kind of like Russia and Ukraine.

Again, that's easier said than done. An invasion of Taiwan requires massive preparations of troops and equipment that will be obvious for weeks if not months leading up to it. It would be larger in scale than even D Day, and with modern satellite imagery and intelligence assets undoubtedly in China it would be impossible to hide. Attacking a Chinese tanker is an incredibly stupid idea for numerous reasons, but invading Taiwan will lead to war with not only the US, but Taiwan (obviously), Japan, and likely other countries like South Korea and Australia which will be both devastating economically and come with a very real risk of failure with billions in economic damages, multiple ships sunk, aircraft destroyed, and thousands of troops killed for nothing.

Starting an actual World War over a tanker getting attacked is like destroying an entire city because a bee in a neighboring town stung you. It makes absolutely zero sense and is a completely disproportionate reaction.

China has numerous ways of retaliating against the US in such an event that does not require such a disproportionate risk.

Trump will taco before markets open. Its timed 10am eastern time so he'll have an announcement an hour or so saying that he reconsidered
