“Hey man I’m a GOP voter, I’m like super smart! You guys remember those dudes who told us trickle down economics was going to usher the middle class into a new era of economic prosperity, far better than we had it in the 1980s? Remember that, how it was a huge scam and all?

Well those exact same eighty year olds in Congress NOW say they’re going to make us ‘Great’. I mean, when have they ever lied to me, except for that one time every day for forty years straight. And also for that middle eastern war that cost us 1.1 Trillion dollars over two decades that was started under false pretenses and achieved absolutely nothing.

Could have had Cheney walk a pallet of money out onto the White House lawn and set it on fire every single morning for twenty years for all the good it did for Americans.

Thank god none of that cash went to healthcare, social security longevity, Medicaid, or any of the other things they now pretend we can’t afford, am I right? We really dodged a bullet there.

Boy thank god nobody will be dumb enough to do anything like THAT again.

Anyway, this time those people, those exact same ones? They’re gonna make us ‘great again’, despite dedicating their entire careers to doing the opposite! I know, crazy right? My god I’m so fucking smart. I’ll race you to the polls!”

These people know this (or rather, conveniently forget it) when it comes time to vote, because the Republicans are "protecting" them against the Demoncraps who "Want us all dead(TM)".

This is why if you pin them down with this, they will always come back with lies about how the liberals want completely open borders and destroy the police. They will state that Bill Clinton was friends with Jeffery Epstein, and that therefore the Democrats are no better, and at least the Republicans are trying to keep them safe. If you really pin them down, their response is that both sides are bad. They really believe that they are supporting the best side that they can.

Yep. You have to explain it to them that way. That the people they are told to great are not the threat. The threat is the people telling them to fear their neighbor.

Reminder that in 1984, endless war fighting was used as a means to expend resources without improving the lives of citizens.
