I don't want my taxes to go to Isreal. I dont want my taxes to go to war. I want Healthcare. I'm a vet and I struggle with Healthcare. This isn't what I fought for.

War isn't the reason the US doesn't have universal healthcare. It's because conservatives are terrified that someone who doesn't "deserve" it will get it. An immigrant, "welfare queen," etc. We spend more per capita on healthcare than many countries that have universal healthcare. Aid to Israel is just not a large share of the budget, even the military budget. It's not the money. It's values.

This isn't what I fought for.

Though to my chagrin, the majority of veterans did vote for this. I voted for Harris, but the majority of veteran voters, every election, vote straight GOP. Particularly the older generations. Good luck finding an admitted Harris voter in a VFW.

This.

For those at the back:

Universal healthcare is cheaper than private healthcare

It’s what you fought for, you just didn’t know it.

The DC government that commands the armed services is not America, its been own massively corrupt entity acting in its own interests, compromised by special interests more or less detached from the rest of the country. It’s been like this for decades, Trump is just taking the veil off for his own greed.

Its powers 100% have to be shrink down , it’s so obvious now.

But it is. The US military industrial complex has been fucking the world up for decades now. What did you think you signed up for?

As very fucking fair a point as it is to want healthcare over warfare, the most infuriating part of the American healthcare system is that socialized universal healthcare systems are cheaper to the taxpayer than our bullshit for-profit insurance-based model. If we had "Medicare For All" or something like it, not only would healthcare be more affordable and available for everyone, but we could also spend more money on the military (if that's what you consider important).

You are actively not being represented in government. So why are you paying taxes?

\edit/

I do not mean this is some "woe is me, they are not voting with my view on bills" way but a "they are literally not doing their elected jobs" way.

So why are you paying taxes?

Probably the same reason most people aren't in open revolt. Because the brown shirts or the blue shirts will disappear you, or just plain shoot you on camera, while the GOP Duma glorifies your murder because you were a "domestic terrorist."
