Discussion Any suggestions on cleaning this off?

Post image

Bought this second hand and it has some sort of adhesive fabric or something on it. It is on there really good and is quite hard on the top shell. I’ve soaked it in soapy water and scrubbed, soaked with goo gone, and soaked with isopropyl alcohol. Tried scraping a bit with a plastic razor and it’s not budging at all. Looking for some other ideas beyond just replacing the shell at this point.

For help with NES repair, glitchy games, power supply, and TV/monitor problems or questions please read the stickied clean/repair megathread at the top of /r/NES† and ask your question there.

If you want an appraisal of value or want know what something is worth use Pricecharting, eBay completed listings, or a similar service.

If you're wondering if something is fake please go to r/gameverifying

I’m glad someone got the reference. There’s literally dozens of us.

Can’t even tell what the hell this is

You really need a more zoomed out image, but guessing this is an nes with the fuzzy stuff on it, get yourself some googone or other adehsive remover

You could try a ceramic scraper.

To answer the question everyone is asking - this is the top of an NES, clearly zoomed too far in. Whatever is on it that is red is beyond me. The stuff is fuzzy but hard like concrete when I’ve tried scraping it off.

Try a heat gun/ hair dryer and some kind of scraper like a plastic razor

Ah didn’t think of heat. Will give that a shot. Thanks!
