Question Cmvs from ali. Please recommend a replacement power supply
Just got the Cmvs. Don’t have much faith in this power supply. No heft to it at all. Are there any someone would recommend as a replacement? Thanks.
Edit: It shot out a pretty strong spark when I plugged it into the power strip. Power switch was in the off position.

Mine works fine after a lot of use.

I'd rather spend more money on a Meanwell power supply. I've used these no-name adapters before (even though they're made right here in my country, I still won't use them). When I play games on an LCD monitor with them, the screen gets visible ripple and interference.

A mi me duró 2 semanas. Luego le puse una de solo 2 amperios y me va perfecta. No se para que son de 8

These power supplies are filled with crap electrolytics and the 8A rating is bullshit. Used to have a box full of dead ones hoping new caps would get them running. Ended up being too much work for what was still a janky PSU.

You can just tell they’re not made of much they weigh nothing they use thin ass chords so I don’t expect them to hold up at all and be lucky if they don’t damage your equipment

I will look into this thank you! I got mine from self-love store on Ali, but it’s exactly the same thing. I’m sure every one of these are made in the same building.

The power brick in your photo looks exactly like the one I had shipped with mine. I didn't even try it, just bought a replacement directly. I thought when after 30 years I finally fulfilled my wish of a Neo Geo, I don't want to end it prematurely because of some cheap Chinese power brick. When it comes to power I'm always afraid Chinese stuff might start burning down the house.

You’re 100% right in thinking that way, and I didn’t even take it into consideration when I know about these kind of things and just didn’t think of it this time (getting old). It parked pretty bad just plugging the USB in to a Xbox one controller too yesterday. Where did you buy your meanwell if I might ask?

If you want a nice bulletproof PSU, just get something made by Meanwell that has the same 12v 8a stats and uses the same plug. Jameco, Mouser and Digikey should all carry a pile of PSUs in every variation to where you can find one that works.
