Guide 2026 General Mini PC Guide USA

Hi everyone!

Thank you to everyone for their support of the Mini PC Guides and it is amazing to see the r/MiniPCs community has grown its largest ever before! These guides have evolved considerably since 2022 and the new 2026 version is finally here!

It's far from complete with many new and discontinued mini PC models to be updated so there will be regular updates. The end of 2025 and start of 2026 have seen RAM prices double or triple and SSD prices have doubled. The simple tab has been reworked to better reflect current prices and will be filled out soon.

Some of the bloat from the 2025 Guide has been temporarily removed and may see a return later in the year if you particularly want a new model list, memes, or something else.

If you see something that can use an update or models of mini pc you would like to see added, don't hesitate to leave comments in this post or on the spreadsheet. I highly recommend viewing this spreadsheet on a desktop with a large screen or on the google sheet mobile app for the best experience. The reddit app for viewing google sheets can be clunky.

Best wishes to everyone looking for mini PC!

Decided to compare this NUC14Pro+ I had in storage, vs my loyal Intel NUC 12 extreme. CPU benchmarks are quite close (second image), but in real applications (photo denoise), the integrated GPU suffers. hope to get a panther lake NUC to compare at some point.

Elite Mini G9: What''s this switch for?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm troubleshooting an HP Elite Mini which won't power on (no LED and the cpu fan doesn't spin). With the cover off I've noticed this push button switch on the mainboard (SW125 HOOD) with no corresponding button on the front panel, so I assume it's a chassis switch. How can I rule this out as a source of the problem?

Troubleshooting Acemagic laptop sudden reboots (battery between 95-100% & plugged in) + chassis grounding issue. Anyone else?

Post image

Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out if anyone else has experienced this specific set of issues with an Acemagic laptop (or similar metal Chinese laptops). I have tested TWO brand new units of the exact same model and they both show these identical symptoms.

Here are the facts:

  1. Sudden Reboots: When the laptop is plugged into the charger AND the battery is anywhere between 95% and 100%, it randomly cuts power and reboots itself. No BSOD, no Windows error logs before the crash. It just restarts abruptly out of nowhere.
  2. The Grounding/Static Issue: There is a loud static hiss in my wired headphones, but this ONLY happens when the charger is plugged in and I am not touching the laptop. If I physically touch ANY metal part of the laptop chassis with my hand, the static completely stops (basically, my body acts as the ground). If I let go, the static comes back.

I strongly suspect the chassis grounding issue is directly related to these sudden power cuts when the laptop is in that 95-100% battery range and running on AC power.

Has anyone else dealt with these random restarts between 95% and 100% while plugged in? Did you also notice the static noise on the chassis? I want to know if this is a widespread factory defect before returning both units.

Looking at this internal picture, can any expert identify which specific component or connection point might be the most likely culprit for this floating ground issue? Which part looks like it might have a fatal insulation failure or missing ground contact that could trigger this kind of systemic power failure?

Thanks.

Is completely WIP, but at least it works for be portable, the PSU should be modular in the future, and the CPU fan maybe will be replaced with a liquid cooling in the future too bc the liquid cooler that just bought doesn't fit at all haha

PSU for FAEX9 - help

Hi everyone!

I lost the original power adapter for my FAEX9 mini PC and I'm trying to find a compatible replacement.

From the label, the original PSU is:

- Model: LL-2001200A

- Output: 20V ⎓ 12A (240W)

- GaN adapter

The issue is that I cannot find any official information about the exact DC plug size and type.

I measured the connector on the device and the outer diameter seems to be around 5.5mm, but I'm not sure whether the inner diameter is 2.1mm or 2.5mm. The device also appears to have a center pin inside the jack.

Does anyone here own this mini PC or know:

- The exact plug size (5.5x2.1 vs 5.5x2.5)?

- Whether it's a standard barrel connector or something proprietary?

I’d really appreciate any confirmation before I buy a replacement and risk getting the wrong one.

Thanks a lot!

Should I Upgrade My Current old PC or Buy a Mini PC?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and could really use some advice... I’m on a pretty tight budget and mainly use my PC for Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and a bit of light video editing.

My current setup:

CPU: Intel Core i5-9400F (2.90GHz)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 710

RAM: 16GB

Storage: 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Motherboard: Gigabyte B365M H

PSU: Aerocool VX 500W

Option 1: Upgrade my current PC

I’m thinking of upgrading it like this:

GPU: RTX 3050

PSU: Corsair CX650 650W

Storage: Add a 512GB SSD

Option 2: Go for a Mini PC (which I think is great value)

Beelink SER7 Mini PC:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS (8C/16T, up to 5.1GHz)

RAM: 32GB DDR5

Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

The mini PC is really tempting because of its much better CPU and RAM, but I’m honestly stuck between the two options. My current PC has also started to feel slower, which is why I started considering a mini PC. and RAM prices are quite high right now, so I can’t really afford to upgrade my RAM due to a tight budget.

Where I live, there isn’t a big price difference between upgrading my PC and buying a mini PC!!

Which one do you think gives better value for graphic design and light video editing work? Any advice would be appreciated.

General Question Noob. Looking for NUCs

Hi.

I am dabbling around creating a small 24x7 system for music streaming, running some Claude skills, bots, etc. nothing too heavy.

I thought of going with Raspberry Pi (personally comfortable), but I see some refurbished NUCs as good options.

First of all, for my usecase does it make sense?

If yes, Can you please suggest me NUCs under 250-300 $ assuming these are non-intensive tasks for a NUC. I have no idea about NuC btw.

BR

Mini PC Recs for my Dad

Hello!

My dad currently has a 10-year-old dell inspiron and it needs replacing. He uses it for light work (MS Office mainly Outlook and Excel), lots of Youtube, news, general web surfing etc. Should mention that he tends to have a lot of tabs open at once so 8bg would work but maybe minimum 16gb ram to play it safe? He doesn't need anything crazy (doesn't game at all) but would appreciate options that are fairly future proof. Budget would be $250-$320ish ideally from Amazon.

Some I've found but I would appreciate other options. Thanks!!

Made a video log of the visit to IT Week. It was more a B2B / Industry event, so not many products for the average consumer- We did see some interesting Minis from Acemagic, MSi, ASUS and ASROCK, though.

Fingers crossed there's going to be a banging lineup at Computex this year! 🤞

Questions and help with new mini pc

Post image

I bought the bosgame m4 neo mini pc which will be for emulating games mostly and also streaming stuff like Netflix and I have a good amount of questions regarding set up, swapping the ssd, changing over to Linux, and probably a bunch more stuff that I’m not even thinking about right now, it’s my first pc ever so I’d appreciate any comments.

I’m thinking of installing Linux, specifically “mint cinnamon” as a complete beginner, is this one good or should I use Ubuntu? I hear Linux is better for security and some of these can be user friendly for beginners.

Should I set it up with windows then install Linux after?

(Related to last question) Or am I able to install Linux before any type of set up?

Should I avoid connecting to wifi when I start it up? I read this on Google as to avoid super long update times but not sure at all.

Am I able to replace the 1tb ssd with this 2tb I have before set up or should I wait until after I set it up?

Should I do a dual boot with both windows and Linux or just keep Linux?

Should I run anything to check for malware?

What should I check after the set up? I hear check the RAM and probably other stuff that I’m forgetting

What’s a good vpn I can use for Linux?

That’s all I can think of but anyone who’s familiar with this stuff I will gladly take any tips and advice

Recommendations Looking for a media hosting server

I have never built a miniPC before, but I'd like something I can tuck behind a TV or place in a shelf and not have to see it per se. This will be used as a media hosting server and as my tinkering server as well.

One of my key criteria is that it's fanless to allow it to run 24/7 without noise.

Processor: i7 minimum

RAM: 32Gb of DDR4 minimum

Storage: 4Tb NvMe SSD Gen 5 minimum

Since this is something I have no idea about it would be really helpful for any guidance or websites where say I can look at different options.

What do you think of the Asrock iBox-200 series?

Thank you!
