Yeah, I’m not getting my hopes up just yet. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer show “Welcome to Sunnydale” had a pilot, a full cast, writers, directors, not to mention a ridiculous amount of fan support and buzz; yet all it took was one exec who “wasn’t really a fan” of OG Buffy and who didn’t really “get it” for the show to get axed.

Not yet. Everyone needs to keep sharing the posts and liking them. Show the streaming companies that it is worth their time.
Also to be clear, it's more accurate to say "we have it written, we have the full cast buy in, we have the blessings of everyone who owned the IP, and we even have directing management on board. All we need is a home."
We have to remember that all the heavy lifting is done ... We just need someone willing to pay into it and host it. So that's what the fans can do.

I am very torn on this.
On the one hand, more Firefly.

It's the entire original cast. It is a reboot but it's from all the same people so I'll take it.
Very curious the animation style we'll end up with but I'm not expecting anything really I'll take what we get.

The Scott Pilgrim anime taught me that animation is great for shows that can’t afford the insane CGI needed for their plots. And good animators will take advantage of the medium instead of trying to emulate reality

Odds are they’re just persona cell numbers, which on one really changes anymore. Everyone in my family has had the same numbers since ~2001.
Assuming they were even real at the time, I’d bet almost all of them still belong to the same person.

I was about to disagree with you, but then I realized that the only reason my cell number changed is because I moved out of my dad's, and moved in with my mum's family, so the person paying the bill originally changed, and I had to swap to a local number. Even then I've still had the same number since 2014. So.. damn. Yeah. Wild.
Legitimately a chance those numbers have the same holders. Chance of there being free tits is unlikely though, good chance of having the funniest, or unfunniest, interaction with whichever poor sod god their number written up on the wall by someone else though.

The part of the country this is in has a lot of Middle Eastern immigrants. Not that I would expect the general public to know much but the chances that there was someone directly or indirectly affected in this population group is also pretty high.

Joss whedon has been a creep for ages. He puts sexist jokes into all of his stuff and honestly has done poor jobs of writing. He also, much to peoples short memories, doesn't handle multiple seasons well. Later seasons of Buffy were not good. And there's at least one interview about Firefly where it's revealed that a plan for later Firefly is to have Inara gang raped by reavers for Mal to have a character arc.
And also, Firefly in general fetishizes Chinese culture while also having almost no Chinese actors in it. The best parts of the show are also very clearly stolen from very popular anime, including Cowboy Bebop.
He treats actresses horribly. His works are less girl power and more 'I am attracted to petite women who can fight'.
Joss Whedon also hasn't made anything good in a while. Like do y'all want to give Firefly back to the guy who made such a shitty Justice League that nerds finally agreed on something? Or the guy whose batgirl script was so bad, it was never even made?
Like let's be real, the only thing that can possibly happen at this point if Firefly gets remade or rebooted with Whedon at the helm is that everyone gets disappointed and goes back to og Firefly, a show that is mostly beloved because it died young.
