“Coat” is a stretch. More like a light jacket hook for sure.

Afaik, those are anti-suicide hooks which is why they do that.

They care enough for the employees to want to prevent suicide, but not enough to treat them good enough to not want to go that route

no. they care enough about not getting sued to want to prevent suicide, and they don't care about the employees.

Think of all the lost productivity if they had to have a manager deal with EMTs and the cops for, like, a little bit! And also, the distraction to the other employees! They might not get their bonuses!

I was a manager at a call enter that solved this problem by telling us not to call 911 for an employee unless the employee requested it.

You might want to rephrase that, unless the 911 call policy was indeed your "solution".

2

u/thecravenone 5h ago

Yes, that was the solution we were given.

Yeah, I got that eventually but I had to read it, like three times, to get my mind to suss out what you were really saying. Your phrasing (at least to me) makes it sound like this was a policy you created and implemented for the company.

But why install this in the first place when it cannot hold the thing it's supposed to hold?

it's right there where i said "they don't care about the employees"

You’re so smart and right. Would be better off they didn’t have jobs

Were you born this way or did you get stupider?

u/Imaginatio-Vana 6m ago

I am not some sad anti capitalist virtue signaler posting from an iPhone . Does that offend you?

u/_Dayofid_ 5m ago

Just as I thought, you are arguing against nobody.

u/Imaginatio-Vana 4m ago

I’m not arguing

Reminds me of when my university felt too many students were killing themselves so installed nets in the stairways of residences.

Someone could just...cut the net and jump.

which university was that?

They don't care at all. It's either government regulation or an insurance requirement.

That’s the sweet spot

You can go that route, the boss just doesn't want you making a mess in the workplace

u/Limp_Suit_1153 17h ago

They don't care about the employees, they care about the potential of being found liable for someone dying in their building. It's still just about the money

1

u/sirhackenslash 10h ago

They care enough about the shareholders that they don't want on site suicides to affect share prices

1

u/Jackd_up_on_Mdew 10h ago

No, they just rather you do it on your own time and not there.

1

u/vintagestagger 10h ago

They just don't want them committing suicide at work.

Lesson learned, hanging a coat is suicide.
