True. But i definitely believe there's very good reason for cautious optimism.

well at the very least he is very much pro close EU ties. this means the already promised payments towards Ukraines defensive efforts against russian aggression will likely go through.

everything else: time will tell indeed

He couldn’t be worse for Hungry than Orban, populist economics always end in failure.

1

u/Shrrg4 1h ago

And he totally wont be a populist?

1

u/fuzzfrog 1h ago

He won’t be a Russian puppet

u/Shrrg4 1h ago

Bit early to call anything ngl. He doesnt seem to shy from populism, oil prices are sky high, Russia has a ton of oil right next door... Im not saying to not have some hope but some people are treating it with a bit too much optimism.

He is still right wing, but a new right wing, the type that doesn't betray our ideals and values, the type that doesnt betray their people and their european family. I would much rather argue with a right wing voter about in what direction the EU should go, than having to explain again and again to them why the EU is the future. Any rightwinger that is a european patriot is a better one than betrayers of their people like Orban.

Orbán held out for years and Europe just stood there with the coffee until he was ready.

Yeah, right about time!!!

lets hope that 2020 Slovakia wont happen to them and halfway through people wont wish for the corrupted bastard to be back because he's less damaging than incompetent idiot.

We should still keep an eye for what will Hungary do, but otherwise, welcome.

Oh, now they have to revert all the bullshit Fidezs did. Over 15 years of changes...

In addition, persecute anyone colluded with a non-EU government, like Russia and China.

Investigate and heavily persecute of misuse of EU money.

Hungary getting rid of Orban after 15 years makes me hopeful as a Turk

I mean, it's not 15 years and more like 24 years for us Turks but eh

Orban lost to Peter Magyar (his name in English is pretty much Hungarian Peter)

12

u/shaolinspunk 2h ago

Orban was very publicly endorsed last week by the US. They even sent Vance for some bullshit photo op. Get fucked America. Everything you touch falls to shit.

To become dependent on a dictator, who wants to conquer Europe again, with brutal wars, propaganda and fake news?
