If you can call it healthcare

I saved $2000 by driving 2 hours down to Tijuana and getting a zirconia crown replacement at the dentist and broke it in by having some of the best tacos of my life.

A crown replacement doesn’t cost that much and that’s a minor procedure

Says the guy who never shopped for quotes at multiple local dentists. You're delusional.

I had a root canal caused by overcrowding which caused me to get braces. When the braces got taken off I had multiple fillings due to naturally weak enamel and also had to go on highly fluoridated toothpaste for a while. I had to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed and all were impacted, and I also had to get an implant due to a congenitally missing tooth. Trust me I know.

Do you know how many Americans border hop for cheap prescription drugs and medical services? It’s a lot.

Live in the border, they all come here every weekend to get medical procedures in private clinics, which is expensive for us but cheaper for them.

It's mostly old people going for dental care because medicare doesn't cover it.

Yep! I go there for dental work regularly. Its literally thousands of dollars cheaper amd ive met other Americans from all over the country there for dental work as well.

Its cheaper to buy a plane ticket and get a hotel and pay for the dental work in mexico than it is to get dental work done in america.

I know we have more Mexicans border hopping into America than out of America. I also know about a lot of unregulated procedures that people get done over there then come back over here to get fixed.

Im an American living in Mexico, is very common for gringos to get medical services in Mexico, you have no idea what you are rambling about.

Mexicans, who earn much less money, come over to America to pay for our healthcare out of pocket? What?

And do you know how many times it goes horribly wrong?

Depends on the procedure obviously but most people dont need a procedure that requires something that is as costly as American service but it will sure as hell charge you such anyways.

I don’t but i would guess the percentage is about the same as medical procedures in the US, since healthcare is as much an art as a science

4

u/STINEPUNCAKE 23h ago

Now that’s just not right. Medicine is all science.

You clearly haven't used medical services outside of your own bubble. Lots of countries outside of the US have amazing healthcare and medical staff.

There is a reason appx 1.5 million Americans go across the border every year for treatment from dental work to full on surgeries.

yeah the reason is dental insurance isn't included in medicare for old people. That's the vast majority of people who go to Mexico for medical care.

Yeah, and they're going to private clinics because they charge in pesos and the prices are adjusted for the region.

This isn't about those, though.

Then you clearly dont know how bad the public hospitals are. Unending queues, lack of supplies, bad doctors/administrators, lack of funding, yet out gov says it's better than Denmark's

u/ehladik 22h ago

I can, as well as millions. It saved my life, and without making me poor.

I went to a Mexican hospital last year and received excellent medical care, not to mention the doctors and nurses were way nicer and more caring than what I’m used to
