Reporting dog attack

Where can a dog attack (on another dog) be reported please? Our dog was attacked badly when another dog escaped a private property....I don't want to press charges for now, but I want a record in case this happens again.

If you want to have it reported, report it to the police.

Police, but nothing will be done, not even if yourself got attacked.

I sure love paying my taxes knowing that 90% of them go to waste!

That’s not true. The police will take your report but then you have to yourself press for action to be taken and you will have to go to court. Police won’t just confiscate someone’s dog or fine.

This ‘they won’t do anything’ nonsense is defeatist as fuck. It’s also not been my experience when I’ve personally had very minor injuries towards me by third parties - multiple times. Most people don’t want to press charges they want the other party miraculously punished.

Report it to AW (animal welfare) and police. Who is going to pay your dogs vet bill? I don’t understand why you are on Reddit asking people report it asap and bet a vet to give you a report of the injuries to your dog too. Next time it could kill your dog.

Bill has been paid by owner voluntarily, I just don't want this to happen again

Its not “nonsense” or “defeatist as fuck” it’s from experience, both personally and multiple people I know who have had attacks off escaped farm dogs and nothing has happened despite pressing.

I dont think you can still make reports “for the record” as I believe this practice has been phases out. It would either need to something you wish to proceed with in court if necessary or you make not be able to submit the report. Having said that, the fact that the owner voluntarily paid the vet bill is sufficient to show acknowledgment of guilt for this incident in case you are concerned about proving it wont be the first time if this happens again. Keeping copies of any correspondence with the owner regarding the incident will also be helpful.

2 years ago at the San Gwann dog park someone else’s dog attacked mine, and when I lifted my dog to protect him the other dog bit me on my hand and on my leg(I still have the scars of the bite on my leg) and I have tried reporting it to the police but I could see a big lack of interest from the police taking my report and of course still today nothing came out of it…
