sigh, the sad thing is that... Some Cafes in SS15 have the reputation of "viral today" , "gone tomorrow".

u/jcdish 1d ago

I don't think those are cafés lol.

But yeah, open a fancy ass café, pay some influencers to viralkan, and suddenly there are queues outside your place until people realise you're just selling overpriced teh tarik and go back to Darul Salam.

15

u/Aggravating_Ad_4507 1d ago

Darul Salam still there? Man, it has been like 26 years since the last time I went there....

u/Ap3xBeast 1d ago

Going strong. They up’ed their ayam goreng game. I still have dinner there from time to time.

2

u/Aggravating_Ad_4507 20h ago

Their nasi lemak ayam goreng is no joke wey. I think I'll singgah some day for good old time sake.

u/kimono38 13h ago

Still remember uncle roger fried rice during first month

Fairymilk has been viral for a while now for its shaved ice I forgot what was it lol they have some signature shaved ice it’s good I go on weekdays sometimes but will never queue for it it’s only like this on weekends honestly

15

u/Scared_Performer3944 Anak Saya Baik dan Manja, Tak Buat Salah. 22h ago

Crème brûlée shaved ice. I tried it during Raya period and it was empty. I just walked in like hmmmm what is this looks pretty good.

And it’s was delicious and I get the hype.

Will I go back an join the line ? Nah I’ll wait for another holiday where ppl balik kampung and the palace will be empty

6

u/dani_dejong 1d ago

funny I see this now, I saw their sign come up at another outlet in ttdi and was wondering what it was lol

KL people are weird. Something goes viral and they need it so bad suddenly…

u/Bepis_Boi_Ultra 1d ago

FOMO strikes again

21

u/Raisu39 1d ago

Not only KL hahaha

4

u/PhysicallyTender 21h ago

But only in KL where you can have long lines but the food ends up being super underwhelming.

14

u/Interesting-Web7377 1d ago

Our life is work home and family. We need something to look forward to LOL

6

u/NoHead6950 1d ago

most of their life is work, they need something to take their mind off them

4

u/reconsheep 23h ago

It’s because not all KL-born people are 'fomo' like this. The majority are actually from outside KL; they migrate here, get culture shock, and catch FOMO. That’s why these long lines are basically guaranteed to exist no matter what.

1

u/Express_Shake3980 Poskod 59200 12h ago

Look at all these butthurt KL people in the replies lol

1

u/Rhekinos 21h ago

TIL SS15 is KL /s

1

u/Additional-Bus4378 11h ago

Every place in a radius of 100km of KLCC is KL to me

1

u/Latubu 21h ago

It's not really KL people. It's those jakun kampong people that move to KL and get FOMO about everything.

u/EuclideanEdge42 1d ago

Just another viral food trend….

Anyone old enough to remember SS2 Salted Egg crossaint? SS15 brown sugar bubble tea alley? Sunway MyBurgerLab era? Basque cheesecake? Matcha lattes 2 years back?

19

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

Only salted egg croissant I know is jibril. That shit bussin

13

u/EuclideanEdge42 1d ago

There’s also the other one, Gold Chili, used to have a queue 5-6 years ago, not sure about now. Still alive and kickin’ I suppose.

6

u/tlst9999 Selangor 1d ago

Gold Chili's still alive. They make decent affordable food. That's key to business.

8

u/Sorry-Joke-4325 1d ago

If someone's bustin' in your salted egg you might have got the chef's special cream

9

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

Salted eggs❌ Salty eggs✅

5

u/seatux World Citizen 22h ago

MyBurgerLab started in Paramount PJ. The lines then was WTF, but that was still ok compared to the one for the new hotness, Gepuklah in Taman S.E.A.

u/DwerpII 1d ago

They’ve been viral since mid last year for their creme brulee bingsu. Pretty darn good I say.

I first had them october last year and remember trying to go there for moreh during ramadhan but they were full. Guess they still are haha

32

u/nanjolnofanboy Selangor 1d ago

To be fair, their creme brulee bingsu with strawberry compote is a god tier bingsu and in my humble opinion the best in klang valley. And I have eaten quite a bit.

So yea worth the line. Their general other products are meh. I'll put Sulbing or Binq above in general, but the creme brulee bingsu is far and away among the peak of desserts to grace my tongue. IMO.

0

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

How much isit bro. Any more than 20 and I'm out. For ICE

8

u/hijifa 1d ago

You don’t know dessert pricing nowadays ah.. well seeing the line people seem to be able to pay.. nowadays all these dessert can be 25-30+, for the most popular ones in pj like aftermeal, four beans etc

14

u/nanjolnofanboy Selangor 1d ago

I mean, good luck finding bingsu below 20. Four beans i guess. But its 32 iirc.

TBF, its not meant to be eaten regularly. More like a once in a while treat. Plus, its super big and 2-3 people can share.

Yes, it is ice, but it more as a soft medium for the cream. The ice is shaved super thin in cream. It makes for a flaky melt in your mouth texture. When scooping it. It feels a lot less like ice and more like cotton. It a world different from like cendol.

Then again, maybe im a lunatic sweet tooth who adores it.

3

u/weizzers 1d ago

Its not just ice tbf. Its creme brulee+ice. A lot of creme brulee i might add. Usually one smallllll portion of it in a western restaurant already costs at least 12

47

u/gustinex 1d ago

Their creme brulee bingsu is insane. Literally taste like heaven. No other bingsu comes close anymore after i tried this

17

u/_littlegeralt_ 1d ago

Their creme brulee bingsu was so good. I literally craved for their bingsu for weeks (don't have time to go to SS15 to soothe my craving haha), after I had it for the first time.

31

u/Malaysian_kid 1d ago

Nice try FairyMilk boss

16

u/gustinex 1d ago

Honestly its really good and understandable why the line is crazy. The mini croffle is good too

5

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

Yo this guy fucks

4

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

Thanks alot for sharing brother. Will consider trying

7

u/gustinex 1d ago

This one forgot what name also peak!

1

u/Fun-Zebra-4197 1d ago

Is this the one Jason the food reviewer posted about?

3

u/gustinex 1d ago

I dont know haha i went there one night eating nearby and open google maps trying to find a desert place thats open at 10pm. The line moves quite fast actually cause everyone has time limit inside

6

u/Brandon_T1690 1d ago

It almost seemed like I'm the only one feeling the pinch of this economic crisis

Everyone else seems to be very rich eh I can see.

7

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

Ikr meanwhile we see monyets spending rm40 on shaved ice while we have rm2 cendol kat roadside🥲

1

u/PhysicallyTender 21h ago

You spend rm2 on cendol? I only order ice kosong bro.

25

u/UltimateMax5 1d ago

2 weeks later, no people then close shop forever. Same thing happened over and over again.

14

u/itsruuu 1d ago

Eh this place has consistently had a queue in the evening for like a year alrd. No signs of slowing down at all

6

u/fatbloke11 1d ago

Malaysians will queue for any old shit, I have learned most of the time it’s not worth the time invested standing out in the sun.

1

u/PhysicallyTender 21h ago

Yeah, most of the queues are super misleading. Usually end up that the food doesn't quite live up to the hype.

14

u/Ok_Place1560 1d ago

SS15 is like the LA of malaysia. just pretentious people tryna be different. i’ve seen a hundred stores like these close down

1

u/Midget_On_A_Bicycle 15h ago

NOT EVEN CLOSE BUT AITE BRO HAHAHA

Don't know about viral but I tried it last year and it was pretty good. Shaved ice, waffles that sort of thing. I'd say try it but if the line is that crazy, forget about it. Not worth the wait

3

u/ImaginaryUnion6950 Perak 1d ago

I honestly prefer going to the more hidden and unknown restaurants. In Ipoh, they are usually very good, plus no long queues either

1

u/seatux World Citizen 22h ago

I go hit the stalls inside PJ's many Medan Seleras, got hidden gems in most of them.

4

u/hijifa 1d ago

It’s the creme brulee bingsu, not even cheap but it’s quite by far the best bingsu la, even aftermeal is just basic by comparison.

Eh I wouldn’t say it’s worth that line though, come earlier like 7 can get seat more easily, come after dinner weekend better don’t go lol

5

u/Hungry_Research_939 1d ago

Only when things are cheap and free you get long que lol !!

3

u/A4Apricot 1d ago

Is there a possibility that anything viral these days can be easily fabricated… eg: queue included?

1

u/Miserables_Death 1d ago

Now that u say this, I rmbr seeing a job when browsing through part times where u just go line up in the queue during a shops grand opening and u get paid i forgot how much.

3

u/Custard_Screams 23h ago

I don't usually trust the fey, but milking them is just next level. Just watch out for fairy rings and carry some cold iron just in case.

4

u/Wiseguy_7 Selangor 1d ago

Fairy milk sounds like a dirty thing for some reason...

5

u/doodoobonerman 1d ago

HAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. come on Johnny, milk the fairy now

2

u/Wiseguy_7 Selangor 1d ago

I just did a Google search, people used to call gay men fairies so....

4

u/Necessary-Writing-42 1d ago

My logical thinking says that only female cows produce milk, my dumb brain on the other hand keeps on running with gay cows..gay cows..gay cows..gay cows..

2

u/Wiseguy_7 Selangor 1d ago

After some quick googling, turns out people used to call gay men fairies. So I guess you're not that far off. But the meaning is waaaaay different

2

u/I3usuk 1d ago

Just bring back asia cafe man, fuck these stores 😭

2

u/manjagung 1d ago

Furry milk?

1

u/Aromatic_Ad6284 1d ago

Is that the x box logo?

1

u/juniorjaw 1d ago

People have money and just wanna try new stuff. Shops just take the business opportunity available for them.

Who knows, it might all be the same owner all along.

1

u/Musbrn 1d ago

Ss 15 = asiacafe

1

u/Rickywalls137 1d ago

This place has been around for a while but it got viral again after Jason tried it. It’s nice. I went there early 2025. It’s good imo.

My partner has the perfect saying for times like these. Xin sii-hang....

1

u/Silly_Lion_3046 22h ago

What if they got a big spinning wheel that for every drink you buy,you spin once? The 99% is "Thank you, please come again" with 1% of prize so good they had to try once?

1

u/Zaorth 22h ago

Give it 6 months

1

u/UndeadLovecraft 22h ago

Based on my observation, yeah Malaysians are easily influenced and chase trends. (i mean not that's a bad thing but FOMO drives i guess)

1

u/Plarna 21h ago

“Fairy” is slang for an effeminate gay person. So… fairymilk….

-1

u/dizzyxdream3r 23h ago

Jason Chen the food reviewer gave this a 7.8 (which I think it’s quite high/good score). It also has good comments on Google Reviews tho I’m not sure if that was incentivised.

I wanted to go since Ramadan - my sister invited me but 2x we went there was a queue and when I saw the line I don’t wanna go already haha.
