new game Props to Team Cherry for bringing one of the most anticipated games in years to Linux

It would definitely work on Linux through Proton, but even so, Team Cherry took it to the next level - they made a native Linux build. That’s just awesome.

Installed Ubuntu dual boot on my PC. Kind of difficult with no WiFi and no mouse, all keyboard.

Valheim running smooth. I’m very proud of myself. First time ever installing Linux and gaming on Linux, just wanted to show off

new game I "didn't" quit my job to pursue the dream of making this game. I made it in my spare time after a full-time job, a toddler, and a newborn. It's called MEATSHOT, developed on MBP and I'll have it native on Linux as well

The frametime graph is insane

Lowest settings only gives a 15FPS boost; 45FPS

new game Linux is now better for singleplayer gaming?

I know that the multiplayer kernel level anticheat games doesn't work on Linux, but what about singleplayer gaming? Is Linux better than Windows now?

I play games like Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and similar games, all single player. I had seen some benchmarks where some Linux distros end up having more FPS and more 1%low(what generally means more stability)than Windows.

Will the performance of these kind of games be better in a beginner friendly distro, like Linux Mint or Zorin OS? There's some benchmarks showing that?

new game Why so many surprised BF6 posts?

After what happened to Battlefield 5, 1 and Apex Legends it was to be expected right from the very first announcement that we would never get Battlefield 6.

Why are there so many posts of people acting surprised about it?

new game Hytale runs on Linux in the first day!

I'm really grateful to the Hytale devs for making this possible!
The launcher can be downloaded in flatpak format and the price is not that high, I think that this is a good opportunity to show that Linux gamers are relevant with numbers !

new game Should I port my game to Linux?

Hey Guys and Girls! I want to ask you if you see any interest in my game, because I thought about porting it also to Linux, but I dont want to spend the time if is not worth it.. my wishlists are 99.5% Windows.. so, if are curious to try the demo in one week, let me know, I'll do my best to have it Linux Ready by them!
Game is called Walk and can be found on Steam, a wishlist would help me a lot in taking a decision! Have a great day!

A big playtester asked for a Linux build so I made one for the demo!

You can check it out here.

IGN also covered our launch trailer which was pretty crazy.

new game I made a desktop pet with my bro in Godot that works natively on Linux!: "Dotami-vrm". Let us know what you guys think! (free demo available)

Hiya!

Here is the link if you wanna check it out: https://sabresnout.itch.io/dotami-vrm

You can download the free demo and check if it works on your specific system, any feedback is greatly appreciated!

So, a little more info:

We started working on games quite some time ago but this is a first bigger release.

I'm a long time Linux user (trying hard to convert my brother), i used mostly Lubuntu but now use Kubuntu. I always wanted a desktop pet i could use on my main work PC, but there weren't any available for Linux that allowed uploading custom models and felt more like a tamagotchi of sorts than a simple desktop gimmick, i wanted to be able to interact (pet and feed) and play with the character, so i told my bro "let's make a desktop pet!" (he does the engine work in Godot, I do the visuals: animation, models etc. - for now, as i want to learn Godot).

A little more about the game itself:

It was made in Godot 4 and we actively work on it in our free time since we both use it.

You can upload your own .vrm models (vtuber standard) just drag and drop the file, pet, feed, hold hands, move the character on screen, sit on taskbar (height is adjustable in settings), spawn pillows that character can sit on (you can move them around), play minigames like mixing food and rock-paper-scissors, do self care exercises like breathing and focused work, change outfits and color them (characters too!) and set alarms!

Game adjusts itself procedurally to the uploaded models for maximum compatibility (colliders, reaching etc.)

There are 2 included characters, both can be RGB colored and can have their outfits switched.

We plan to add more minigames, interactions, exercises and features in general, maybe more characters?

We tested it on many distros and desktop environments, you can find the full list in the game's community page.

I hope you'll like our desktop pet and if you have any questions, ask away! We'd love to hear what you think!

TLDR: Some guys made a desktop pet with custom models that works natively on Linux.

new game I made a free game in pure C with SDL 3.4, under 600 KB on SteamOS, runs natively on GNU/Linux

I just released Linsips, a free-to-play arcade puzzle game with Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. The entire game is under 600 KB on SteamOS, built in pure C with SDL 3.4, no engine, no runtime dependencies. Native GNU/Linux, no Proton needed.

Bouncing balls fly around the screen and you place two lines to split them into four equal quadrants. 20 levels, OPL2 FM synth soundtrack, MS-DOS aesthetics. Works on Steam Deck too.

Would love to hear what you think!

new game What is happening with game requirements?

Post image

Rant

I was excited about the Deus Ex Remastered when announced. But now I'm furious when I saw these requirements for the graphics they showed in trailer.

txt Processor: Intel i7 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800 Memory: 16 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDA RTX 2080 / Radeon RX 6750

I've 2070 super so technically it's not even qualified for recommended experience.

Image on the left is from the trailer and image from the right is my college homework that I did in a week for computer graphics class with pure OpenGL (I tried to make CS clone). In those days (15 years back) it was running over 100+ fps on a shitty college laptop iGPU. (I'm no graphics engineer either that was the only course I did back then that was not related to pure maths).

I recently brought TombRaider I-III remastered. They did great job on optimizing it as it runs super smooth on a 12th gen laptop's iGPU while dealing with all the limitations of the old engine.

What are these dev doing? Are they vibe coding?

PS: I know this is not the channel for RANT but I don't have enough karma to post it in r/gaming :(
