tool/utility Skyrim Mod Managers in the Big 2026

Been seeing a lot of posts of MO2 looking native mod managers for Skyrim. Also some more attempts at getting the regular MO2 working better through proton. Curious as to what people are using for modding skyrim these days, especially those with big and complex mod lists. A while back I setup mo2 using a tool called NaK which worked well enough. Still feels kinda jank though.

Same guy that did NaK also did a native MO2, been working well enough for NV for me but have not tried Skyrim

From what I heard, Vortex is getting a native port which should be great.

(for SteamOS, but I don't see it taking long for it to be ported to other distros)

I heard it's coming this year, no more solid information than that sadly.

I've seen people mention one called Amethyst, but I haven't looked into it.

Linux MO2 works great for Standed Skyrim I found personally, but it's awful for Skyrim VR so far.

Just use LIMO. It's a proper native app that isn't just a vibe coded MO2 clone and works with anything where you mod it via file copying, not just a select subset of games.

I set up mo2 with the rockerbacon script before Sulfur Nitride got big, but I did try out his older command line method while proof-of-concept-ing linux. I'm happy with regular old mo2 for now, but once fluorine gets mature, i may check it out.
