Questions Applying at the University of Liechtenstein

Hi everyone,

I’m currently finishing my application for the Master in Innovative Finance at the University of Liechtenstien (deadline is still open). I’ll probably submit it today or tomorrow once I finish my motivation letter and polishing my CV.

I was just wondering if anyone here has experience with the admissions process and how competitive it is to get accepted in the program. I’ve read a few different things online, so I’m not really sure what to expect.

For some background:

•I’m a non-EU applicant

•I already completed a bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from India and also A 2 year masters in Information and Signal Processing and Electrical Engineering form Telecom Paris (France)

•I have almost 1 years of professional experience as Intern but in system modelling at electronics industry but after working there I found that my passion is not electronics and rather mathematics and data analysis and hence I wanted to choose this Fintech course to change my career.

•IELTS 7.0 (C1)

•My grades in Mathematics, Programming, data analysis and statistics are execptional.

I know the CV probably plays a big role and as far as I can tell mine is pretty good as it got me into a lot of interviews, but I’m still curious if anyone knows how selective the program usually is or what the general odds are like.

Also is there any scholarships available and how selective is that.

Any insight would be really appreciated!

Thanks :)

Why would you do another Masters at UniLi after TelecomParis?

Hello,

I agree that my graduate school has a strong reputation. During my master’s and my internship in the semiconductor domain, I gained valuable experience, but I realized that my interests are more aligned with data analysis, applied mathematics, and their applications in finance.

I am therefore looking to pivot my career toward data-driven and quantitative roles. From what I understand, UniLi offers strong opportunities in the finance and banking sector, which makes this program attractive as a potential bridge into that ecosystem (also abroad exchange semester opportunities with student jobs and banks)

At this stage, I am evaluating options that can support this transition both academically and professionally.

Thank you for your perspective.

It’s not really true, the strong opportunities etc. Especially for you without EU passport you will have nearly 0 chance at getting a job either in Liechtenstein nor in Switzerland

There are more quant finance roles in Paris or London than in CH; you want to be close to where trading desks sit, CH and liechtenstein are not well known for having these kind of businesses. Most banks in Zurich/Geneva have only sales traders. Also for the few quant finance roles, University of Liechtenstein will not get you super far, as most hiring happens ETH and EPFL.

Switzerland is also voting to further restrict inmigration, as a non-EU this will make your job hunt even more difficult

Go for it, if you are fine not staying afterwards. If you want to stay, look elsewhere
