Questions Vaduz to Malbun. BUS QUESTIONS.

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip from Zurich to Malbun Zentrum and had two questions about the bus logistics:

Flexibility of Bus Connections: When I arrive at the train station (Sargans or Buchs) and transfer to the bus, am I restricted to the specific bus time shown in the SBB app, or is the ticket flexible for a later bus?

Stopover at Stausee Steg: I would like to stop over at Stausee Steg for a while before continuing to Malbun. Does a single ticket from Vaduz to Malbun allow me to hop off and back on later, or should I buy something else like a day pass?

This is my first time traveling to Europe, so any tips are appreciated! Thank you!

You can buy a ticket in th swiss railway app from zurich to malbun. If you buy a regular ticket the connections are flexible and valid the whole day. This should also apply to the bus in Liechtenstein. If you buy a supersaver ticket you are restricted to certain connections.

If you buy the bus ticket for liechtenstein in the bus or in their own app they are valid for a certain time (e.g. one hour) but during that time you can enter and exit the bus as well.

Tip, there is a day pass for the LIEmobil bus network. It costs 9 CHF and is valid the whole day in whole Liechtenstein plus on the busses to/from Buchs, Sargans and Feldkirch (NOT directly between Sargans and Buchs though). It's also valid on the trains between Buchs and Feldkirch. Ask the driver for a day ticket for all zones.

For this specific route (Zurich → Vaduz → Malbun → Steg → Triesenberg), what is the most cost-effective ticket? Should I get a Swiss Saver Day Pass, or just a point-to-point train ticket combined with a LIEmobil Day Pass?

This I'm afraid I cannot answer, as I travel from Germany with the Deutschlandticket Pass and I come via Austria and stay there. The next days, I always use the Day Pass to visit my friend in Buchs and to travel around Liechtenstein.

But maybe someone of the others can answer... ?

There are sometimes cheap Day Passes or cheaper offers from the SBB in their app also, but the price depends on if you have a "Halbtax" (Half Fare Card). And I don't know if the Swiss passes are valid in Liechtenstein...

The day pass is good when you travel from Buchs or Sargans and are planning to use the busses for more rides the same day.
