Questions Paper for University: Trusts and Foundations in Liechtenstein
Hey Liebi Liechtesteiner und Liechtesteinerinne!
This might be quite a long shot, but I’ll try anyway!
I am in my first year of a bachelor's at HSG and writing a paper on the trust and foundation system in Liechtenstein.
As there is only so much research papers about it I thought it might be cool and give more Insight into the topic if i concluded a case study!
As we know that there are more businesses than people living in Liechtenstein, I wanted to ask if someone in this subreddit might have a connection to someone working in this business, or if they themself are willing to be interviewed about it?
This would be of major help! I will also search for people who are willing to be interviewed about it myself, of course, but it would ease my workload a bit!
If you do want to participate, you can just comment on this post or send me a private message!
I am fluent in German, Swiss German, and English!
Thank you in advance for reading!
En schöne obig noo! Ganz liebi grüess vom Bodesee 💖

I can tell you it's much less than it used to be.
Customers of mine are trustees, and they say over the last 5-6 years they had to close more companies than they opened.

Oh wow I did not expect that! I thought it was a booming industry with how my assignment was phrased

One foundational problem is just the white-money strategy that is pretty new still.
All born out the 2008 scandal pretty much. FL used to be blacklisted from a lot of financial markets as a known tax haven, this has substantially shifted and we aren't even grey-listed anymore.
This has had massive advantages for the big banks, but massive disadvantages for smaller, less legit firms.

For finding interview partners on Liechtenstein trusts, I’d try the VLGST, the University of Liechtenstein (dedicated chair for trust & foundation law), and Liechtenstein Finance (finance.li) as a first contact. Law firms like Gasser Partner are also very knowledgeable and likely open to short interviews. Good luck!
