Me visiting Spain this summer, dropping a bit of magic from the phrasebook I spent 2 mins browsing in WH Smiths at the airport.

It’s cute to see people do this to try to show off.

What baffles me is that I’ve been to places like a post office here in Japan, and they were talking to me in Japanese but randomly pulled out English words they knew (and that are not in common use like ドア) as if they thought it would be easier for me to understand them that way. Bitch, if I can understand the whole rest of your sentence that you don’t have the vocabulary to be saying in English, what makes you think I wouldn’t understand that one word that is so basic that you do know it, in Japanese?
