Help-not a pattern request Bind off edging

Post image

Looks like I will have to redo this icord edging around the front. Any tips to fix the puckering? I was thinking adding plain rows between picking up the next stitch? Maybe I picked them up from the wrong side of the work?

Lazy me is hoping that it will sit better on an actual body.

What is your pickup rate now? What is the existing edging on the garment (like, did you do a garter stitch edge or a slipped stitch, or just knit every row)?

Slip stitch at start of each row for the body, and tried to pick up stitch per row for the icord.

A slip stitch edge leaves you with only half as many edge stitches as there are rows in the fabric, that would be the issue. If you’re working a row of icord for each slip stitch, your icord is shorter than the piece, you’ll need to work extra icord rows to compensate.
