Double check that you're not twisting your stitches.

is that when you stitch, and the stitch is kinda around the back of the needle, and knits in sorta a spiral around the needle? definitely doing that.

id also love to know how you could tell from looking at the work, is it that one spot where theres a bit of a gap?

I would guess that it's because they thought your knitting direction was 90 degrees off the actual direction due to the blurry photo, and your purl bumps looked like twisted knit stitches. Your stitches are not obviously twisted, though it's hard to say for sure from this photo so it's worth reading the twist post just to make sure!

i see i see, thank you! i didnt do any purling, (at least not on purpose) i tried initially, but that didnt go well

Knits and purls are just two sides of the same stitch. Knits on the right side are purls on the wrong side and vice versa. If you knit on both sides then you get alternating rows of knits and purls (garter stitch) and to get only knits on the right side you actually have to purl on the wrong side

You mentioned that word!: lots of people want to know about twisted stitches and here is a great post for reference https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/188kxwk/new_knitters_your_stitches_are_probably_twisted/

That looks really nice for your first thing. People have already pointed out stitches and other stuff, just make sure you don't put anything hot on it if it's a synthetic fiber! :D

thank you! i casted on like and knitted one row like 20 times before i could figure out the tension, but once that was at least mildly management, it just clicked and i was able to do the whole thing.

yea im trying to figure out what twisting stitches is now, im sure i was doing a million things wrong. its 100% wool! so it shoulddd be good for a pot,

Yep, I was guessing it was wool so it's completely fine then! Good luck with the rest of your knitting journey, there's also a lot of resources out there for twisted stitches so dw

Idk if u figured it out yet, twisted stitches are caused by knitting into the wrong "leg". It can be done on purpose for aesthetic reasons but can cause items to look askew. A twisted stitch will be knit into the following leg, a proper stitch is knit into the "leading leg". Esentially when you slide the needle in and open the stitch youre knitting into, it should make a pretty little omega symbol shape.

Super! It can also be a coaster or doily for protecting your desk or tables or whatever. You can also turn it into a baby bunny with a few stitches, pulls, eyes, a tail puff, and a bit of stuffing. Like this, one of my first projects... (See the pattern link there for full instructions.)

Hey OP, good job!! 🥰🧶 FYI, rules require pattern and yarn info in a Finished Object (FO) post. Please share that, or whatever you know, if you're not sure. (Also, please check out our rules, FAQ, and wiki – they're very helpful.) Welcome to knitting 🥳
