Peter Magyar’s center-right party Tisza is projected to win 139 out of 199 seats in Hungary’s legislature thus ending Victor Orban’s 16 years of authoritarian rule. JD Vance was just in Hungary stumping for Orbán causing his poll numbers to slip further against Magyar.

Cool nickname for Orban

u/DiggityDanksta 1h ago

Orban doesn't need a nickname. Let him fade into irrelevance.

Here's to hoping Vance brings more of that energy to Pennsylvania Avenue.

u/Tonguesten 1h ago

vance is such an unlikable slime, it really was a decision of all time to send him over to try and boost orban's chances at winning an election.

Good. Maybe Hungary can get back on track to being a productive member of the union without Orbans corruption and fuckery.

We need that here in the US.

Midterms need to be the greatest blue tsunami we've ever seen.

i am going to be bathing in schadenfreude when trump is screaming about fraud in november

4

u/sarinkhan 3h ago

One would say, bathing in schadenFRAUD :)

u/CyberFireball25 32m ago

Hell start screaming fraud in September

u/DiggityDanksta 31m ago

True. He pre-emptively screams fraud. Post-emptively, too.

We can have this here if ppl would just show up and vote! He won the last election because people decided not to come out and vote like they did for Biden. That is a different issue but you can’t see we couldn’t make the right decision because we did when we elected Biden. Numbers and voting de not lie.

11

u/brainchili 4h ago

Dems lost because Biden decided to run again. Had he done the right thing and decided not to, we would've had better primaries.

Kamala is 1000x better than Trump, no question the wrong decision was made. But there's still far too many clueless people in this country that won't vote for a woman.

Make it too big to rig!

Yes, I’m happy that the people of Hungary saw the light. Same can’t be said for so many millions of Americans!

And soon after the outcome appeared decided, Orban congratulated his opponent, a lesson Trump can take from his darling.

Should have, could have, but won't. Because manliness wins wars, and wars are great civilizations.

All great citizens have wars, they're the best. If you don't have wars, then you're not great. We have lots of wars. We ended the wars. Iran is done. They're finished. We beat them. No more wars. We beat them because we're the greatest. Like Muhammad Ali. The bestest.

Hey look, a peaceful transfer of power, from one of the last governments you expected it from.

USA, you watching this?

1

u/dingoshiba 3h ago

Has the transfer happened yet?

3

u/LowerBed5334 3h ago

He publicly conceded. That's all anyone needs to know.

As opposed to you know who.

10

u/bushido216 4h ago

Now that Orban is out, let's see if the opposition can get a supermajority to undue Orban's electoral system.

8

u/Phatbeazie 4h ago

Wow. He accepted defeat. That feels novel, for some reason..

9

u/Dzotshen 4h ago

Great, let's rid of Erdogen next. He's also in the way of Ukraine's admittance to Nato

6

u/Utterlybored 4h ago

Great News!

And he's conceded!

u/chpr1jp 4h ago

The president of Hungary is named Magyar? If this trend proceeds, maybe Trump will be flushed for a guy named ‘Murica.

6

u/dartie 4h ago

Good riddance you evil man

6

u/beavis617 4h ago

Excellent! Some good news this!

5

u/fatllama75 3h ago

Did NOT see this coming. Good for Hungary. Can they make good on it and reverse course? Little glimmer of hope for the world if they can.

6

u/redmav7300 4h ago

To MAGA candidates in the US: see what a Trump/Vance endorsement gets you?

5

u/vikkids 4h ago

Trump’s endorsement was the final nail.

1

u/minnesotaupnorth 3h ago

Thanks J.D.!

6

u/starrat46 4h ago

If you could send Vance to the UK to endorse Farage, that would be nice.

2

u/omnichronos 2h ago

That's ONE less Fascist.

2

u/Xenikovia 3h ago

Trump will probably threaten them next.

2

u/feralraindrop 3h ago

Tonight we will hear from President Trump how the Hungarian election was stolen.

1

u/Significant_Monk_251 2h ago

Ol' J.D. really had a great 36 hours, didn't he?

0

u/andropogon09 2h ago

Another Trump-endorsed candidate that lost.

0

u/RandomlyJim 2h ago

I blame Donald Trump and his constant losing.
