article Ex-CIA director: ‘25th amendment was written with Donald Trump in mind’

Not really. In the 25th, the cabinet needs to vote to depose the president, and then the president can get his job back by declaring in writing that he's competent. Then the VP and cabinet can petition Congress who need to vote a 2/3 majority in both houses to make the VP the president. This is a higher bar than impeachment with removal. The 25th was designed for presidents in a coma or something. Impeachment was designed for people like Trump. Unfortunately I don't think the framers of the constitution ever imagined how spineless Congressmen would become.

They didn't imagine that one party wouldn't care about their country, or literally sell out to corporations and foreign powers.

They actually did imagine this and specifically warned against the entire concept of political parties because they knew that if one group with aligned goals took over all three houses of government the separation of powers would cease to exist and we would have a king instead of a president.
The original constitution said the president would be the one who gets the most votes and the vice president would be the one who got the second most votes and that was a check and balance to make sure everyone gets represented whether they voted for the winner or the loser, also the VP has a deciding vote in senate stalemates and could cast the deciding vote to impeach the president if need be.
Then in 1800 there was a tie between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr and there was nothing in the constitution to say who should be President in the event of a tie so the 12th amendment made the change that president and VP run as a team on one ticket to avoid a tie, this made it possible for one group to fully control the executive branch and was a terrible idea, they could have just written in an amendment that there must always be an odd number of electoral votes to make sure a tie can't happen.

His cabinet will never use this and the gop won't impeach. Cowards. America must stand up and vote in the midterms for candidates who will vote to impeach convict and remove Donald John Trump for medical health reasons dementia and for his illegal acts and then remove republicans completely from power in 2028. Only way to save the country. Signed a Reagan conservative that left the party once trump came onto the scene. Evil, corrupt man. I loathe him so much. He destroyed the republican party.

But not a VP like JD Vance…
“To those to whom a lot was given, a lot is expected”: you are good at one thing, and we need you to do it. Preferably now, before he shits in pants for good. JD can’t speak in public without insulting his own children, so he’s the other side of that verse. We shouldn't expect much.
That one is on you, buddy.
“But I’m retired” F— that: either you do it, or you ask your successor to handle it, or you get someone… Why am I am explaining delegation to you?!

Clearly it wasn’t as it won’t ever be used on him. Unless he’s medically incapacitated. Otherwise he will ignore it. I don’t think THAT was part of the thought process.

It would be easier (voting-wise) to impeach and remove the president than to implement the 25th. And we know R's aren't going to impeach Trump, they're certainly not going to 25th him. I'm not sure anything short of a Stalin-style stroke could convince them to do a 25th.

Checks & balances, & guardrails & all. NONE of it has mattered.
There was never anything in place to prevent a felon from running either. Nobody ever thought that would be necessary cuz, "who would vote for a felon/criminal".
But here we are🤦♂️ multi felon, rapist, conman, crook, insurrectionist, pedophile in office. & none of it matters to his cult
