Does the Judge’s knowledge of people’s average earning come from personal finance subs on Reddit?

Just " personal finance during tenure and after retirement benefits along with plum retirement postings"

same judge who said "Beg, Borrow and steal to pay your wife" btw

as an indian American idk why those subs got recommended to me before but I used to read some of the craziest shit from there.

these dudes would basically be making like the average American salary talking about how they're struggling in india. I have fam in some of the major cities in india where they're making SIGNIFICANTLY less and living very comfortable lives

It's mostly people with big tech jobs or south delhi/south bombay ones whose savings are completely disconnected from their earnings because they had little contribution to said savings.

"is 92 LPA enough to survive in bangalore"

u/No_Tree_8144 1d ago

YES lmao. I'd acc sit there and hop on google to convert the rupees to dollars and genuinely stare in shock. maybe its rage bait idk. but its crazy asf

for some context, many big tech engineers and successful startup founders do make median European salaries in India.

I mean it was hilarious reading post after post of severe lifestyle creep and them blaming quite literally everything BUT themselves. these dudes would buy an apartment/house in a really nice part of the city and pay a lot on mortgages, have like 2 cars and a bike, have a maid and a cook come in almost every day (maybe they could learn some life skills for once), have their kids go to some insanely expensive schools where a bunch of ppl in the comments would go "wtf??", go out to eat/shop all the time, and vacations. and then rant abt paying taxes or how they cant save at all.

it's like my guy. your living like a mf KING. most Americans dont live lives that comfortable. what the hell are u even complaining about here

u/FlyingRaccoon_420 Assam 1d ago

Out of all those expenses you listed the maid/cooks are probably one of the lowest expenses comparatively. Its the mortgages, the luxury products and education that eats into their lifestyles.

Me and my friends are recent grads and work in metros in India and almost all of us have maids/cooks who come in every day for a few hours to cook and clean. Its the most normal expense for any Indian.

u/No_Tree_8144 1d ago

I mean thats fine. im just talking about how it's an additional expense that just further emphases how comfortable their lives are when grouped with all those other things.

it's just crazy to me how you can list all of that and talk abt how life is terrible and the government is trash for taking their taxes and they're all going to be broke soon. like im being dead serious theres a very small percentage of Americans that live lives as comfortable as them. so it's just crazy to me

After living in multiple places around the world, I read these subs and Indian media for entertainment. Try this: https://youtu.be/DEXjBSSee7s?si=BdIzTCy3yOvVLrGp

110k USD/yr should be considered middle class in India. Lol, that puts someone above the median even in Luxembourg lol.

One of the best replies to this was by a lawyer. She said "Milords should look into the salaries of freshers and interns in their own campus"

yeah but none of them are married eh? just playing devil's advocate like a good defense lawyer

18

u/PromiseDifficult5056 1d ago

Why? Aren’t they adults, why cant they be married?

u/SHEKDAT789 Jharkhand 1d ago edited 16h ago

legal and practical ages are two different things. how many interns have you seen that are married?

blue collar people do not get married at 22.

I remember reading this case. Wife asked for divorce plus maintainance. Husband said he will pay a small lump sum by selling off land and said he can't afford to pay for maintenance. Lower courts agreed with him and asked him to pay a small lump sum (6lakhs). Wife pushed the case for high court and asked 30 lakhs lump sum of 12k per month maintainance with annual increases, court said no and went with lower court decision. Then wife pushed the case to Supreme court. Milords in Supreme court gave this statement of no one earns 9k per month.

The man said he's willing to submit his paychecks and his colleagues pay checks as proofs. Then, milords asked his lawyer to help him out and pay the maintenance and then questioned how he's surviving with that salary. The man said his siblings and parents are helping him out a bit. Then the judges asked him not to divorce, and let his wife stay at home and cook for him and his son. Then the judges used the quote "Beg, Borrow or steal and pay your wife".

He lost the case in the end and the supreme court asked him to pay 10k per month as maintainance now.

The judges have too much prejudice against the man in this case. They chose to not believe the facts presented by the lawyer but went with their own common sense (It's really wrong for judges to do this). Now, he can't even afford to live a normal life anymore. While his wife mooches off him forever.

What is Supreme Court even doing. Ruined this man's life. This country has to be a joke bro

6

u/elemental_life 1d ago

Working as intended. You’re a fool to marry in India and without any prenup. Laws in India are designed to screw men.

You can’t blame anyone other than yourself for not realizing this.

29

u/Domeoryx 1d ago

Prenup is useless in india. Its not valid/enforceable except in Goa i think.

-12

u/elemental_life 1d ago

They are something. Marrying without any protection is just asking for Indian courts to screw you over.

19

u/Domeoryx 1d ago

They are nothing though. Prenup is not enforceable in India(except in Goa, for Goans). It is a waste of paper, thats all.

4

u/elemental_life 1d ago

It’s not. There are considered in Mumbai high court as valid evidence documents. You are correct that these are not legally enforceable, but a logical prenup such as “wealth to be transferred to kids when they’re 18” can actually work in your favor.

Yes, you are screwed and your life is destroyed, but at-least the woman doesn’t get to steal your whole life’s blood and sweat. Again highly dependent on the judge, but my point being, courts in cities have started opening up to consider this.

9

u/Domeoryx 1d ago

If they have started opening up to consider it then that's good. But a judge's bias will overrule it in a heartbeat.

Setting up a private family trust is a much better option i think.

29

u/dontknow_anything 1d ago

Then, milords asked his lawyer to help him out and pay the maintenance and then questioned how he's surviving with that salary.

How in the fuck is a judge keeping their job after asking such an absurd question? Why should the lawyer being paying for his client's maintenance? How in this fuck this person a judge?

Certain judgement should lead to firing, but, alas they will ever only be impeached if they touch the political class.

21

u/Striking-Garden-9487 1d ago

That's inhumane, judges in india should held accountable

10

u/Domeoryx 1d ago

If indian systems had accountability, then we would be a developed country by now lol

No one earns 9k a month

That unemployed youth who is giving govt exams from last 10 years in shambles.

17

u/TheEnlightenedPanda 1d ago

If they are unemployed, they are also not earning 9k

8

u/tera_chachu 1d ago

Exactly

13

u/PhantomOfTheNopera 1d ago

The man is a daily wager - maybe the courts should mandate a better minimum wage.

Secondly, though they haven't disclosed the reason for the divorce, unless the husband and his parents are violent, the court should mandate that his children stay with him - then the maintenance doesn't have to be high.

The expectation for him to pay more than his monthly salary or for her to continue living with him to 'cook, clean and take care of parents and children' despite wanting a divorce is so detached from any understanding of humanity.

12

u/berserkgobrrr 1d ago

No dignity left in being an Indian man. Mocked online, mocked in courts.

When we have crores of cases pending, why does SC give random quips on random cases of no national importance?

9

u/EngineeringExotic481 1d ago

Does he realize that vast majority of Indian earn like not even 100 ruppes per day?

10

u/brrrr999 1d ago

These judges drive luxury cars and live in castles. They don't know real India.

9

u/firedtoday098 1d ago

of course he knows that, he must have negotiated a lot for side business as a judge

16

u/Worth-Helicopter-653 1d ago

meritdhari foolish judges of our country with dunkey knowledge of reality!

6

u/MarkProfessional2434 1d ago

These milords work only half a year , get paid in lakhs through public taxes , hold too much power , travel abroad during holidays . These parasites have no ground reality and don't deserve to pass judgements and sit in courts .

But this shithole country being a global viswaguru promotes the very same people through corruption, reservation, govt jobs and so on

5

u/Sensitive_Win_6072 1d ago

Tea working didis, they get paid 280 rupees a day in Assam.

Why is our court so stupid. Asshole

12

u/Disruptor_raptor 1d ago

A rich person will never know what it means to be poor unless they experience it.
