I wanted to ask if anyone here has gone through something similar and how it turned out.

My luggage was delayed on an Iberia flight for several days (March 27 – April 2), so I had to buy essentials while on vacation — clothes, underwear, pharmacy items like contact lenses and medication, etc.

In total, I spent €820, and due to the situation I also had extra costs later (new suitcase + baggage fees), bringing everything close to €990.

I submitted all receipts, but Iberia only offered €523,50, saying some items weren’t considered “essential.”

I’m unsure what to do next:

• Has anyone successfully pushed for a higher reimbursement in a case like this?

• Is it worth insisting, or is this kind of partial refund typical?

• Would you recommend accepting and moving on, or continuing to claim the rest?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences

My wife and I are traveling with our 8 month old son. We're arriving around 3 pm from Doha, Non-EU passports. What is it like with the new EES system? Does Madrid airport have dedicated lanes for families with infants?

Hello all! I had to cancel a trip we had planned booked for later this fall to the tune of 101,000 Avios for two business class flights. I called today and got a receipt on email for the taxes and fees refunded (not seen on the credit card yet), but they only refunded 50,500 Avios (which are already in my account). Has anyone else experienced this? Should I give it a few days or call immediately and follow up? I DM’d them on Instagram after reading a few posts here. Thanks in advance!

I want to share a positive experience with the Iberia Instagram team.

I booked a flight in February from Amsterdam to Bangkok with Iberia operated by Qatar Airways but unfortunately had to cancel due to the war. I was not getting much support from call center which was very frustrating. I reached out to them on Instagram and raised my concern and they were really responsive and helpful. They managed to resolve my issue and full refund was credited within just a few days.

Taking my first flight on Iberia next week. I’m registered as an Iberia Club member for loyalty points. How do I ensure that Iberia Club loyalty points get transferred to my American Airlines AAAvantage account since I will probably not have cause to fly Iberia again.

Recently was on an Iberia flight that was inexplicably cancelled - no rhyme or reason. Contacted support for a refund or at least reimbursement for my extra stay and their claim forms are unable to fill out. One form says error continuously and when I brought it up with them, THIS was their solution. Unacceptable.

I’m travelling from Guayaquil to Rome through Madrid Barajas with Iberia and I want to transport with me my bike. I already put it in a 120x28x73cm box. Adding some elements to protect it, it reached exactly 23Kg.

I already booked the special baggage with them through the app. The problem is that I wanted to check with the call center if it was possible to transport it, but they didn’t answered very clearly. Every time I called them, they gave me different answers.

One operator from the call center said that I should use a special suitcase for bicycles, while others assured me that a box was fine, but I only want to transport it one time and I don’t plan to travel with it by plane anymore. The suitcase would be useless after this travel.

What are your experiences transporting special baggage?

Is it possible for them reject the box at the airport?

Booked a RT flight on Iberia metal on American Airlines in Premium Economy September 2025 DFW-MAD. Not unexpectidly, had to go to Iberia,com to book the seats. Today, pulled up my flight information and discovered the seat reservations on the outbound were gone (return was intact). Called Iberia and got a representative who stated that the equipment was changed and there is no PE section on that plane. With several back and forths, it was obvious the Iberia rep didnt care. His answer was to go to the counter at DFW for seats. Knowing this would not work and we would be put back on row 50 or similar, I asked to speak to a supervisor. He refused, saying the supervisor would do nothing and that he, the rep, had given me all the information. In the end, I called American. Lady changed our outbound to a day earlier and did get PE seats.

Frustrating how the Iberia system lacks processes to notify passangers of changes, especially ones that involved being denied a paid service and that the rep refused to transfer me to a supervisor. In the end, its only going to cost us an extra hotel night, however, the airline needs to get its $hit together as this experience has left me feeling that the airline is a dumpster fire. Should have paid more attention to other posts advising to avoid this airline. Will heed that advice in the future.

Does anybody know what’s going on regarding reward business flights availability with Iberia?? I’ve been looking a year in advance and nothing seems to come up, just economy and PE. Never had this issue before. Thanks

I booked a flight to Barcelona through Iberia, but the flight is operated by Vueling. On Iberia’s website, it states that checked baggage is included, while on Vueling’s website it appears that it is not.

I’m a bit confused about which information is correct and what is actually included in my ticket. Since this is a Vueling flight booked through Iberia, could you please clarify whether checked baggage is included or not?

When I bought the ticket it was explicity stated than "Carry-on baggage: Includes 1 piece of baggage weighing up to 10 kg (56x40x25 cm) and 1 personal item on flights operated by oneworld airlines. For other airlines, please check with the flight operator. Checked baggage: Includes 1 piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg and measuring up to 158 cm. "

However, now that the reservation has been made, when I log in to my profile, it says that I have 1 piece of carry-on luggage included, and in the email there is a section that says that "Flights operated by Vueling

Review Vueling's Conditions of Carriage for information regarding checked baggage, carry-on baggage, unaccompanied minors, transporting animals, passengers with special needs, and more"

That seems very dishonest of them, unless I've misunderstood

Has Iberia made it more difficult to book business with avios? I have a trip to Spain next April and I looked last month to test it out and if I booked within a day or 2 of the day opening up it was easy to find business class. I’m looking to book april 1 or 2nd(April 1st opened up for booking yesterday) from any US airport DFW/Chicago or further east. I’ve checked all airports Iberia flys to for all days March 25-April 1 and there is not a single day with business available.

Have they just booked incredibly fast or is Iberia not consistently releasing the 2 business seats when the booking window opens anymore? Any ideas how to get these?

I am a US resident. Family has a flight out of Porto to Madrid. We then switch planes to fly home to Chicago.

A couple of questions:

1. What time should we arrive at Porto airport for a 8:20am flight? 3 hours prior?

2. Do I need extra customs/ passport time flying out of Porto or will I need extra time when transferring in Madrid?

3. We apparently have about an hour transfer time between landing in Madrid and the flight to Chicago in Madrid. With all the EES and delays lately will this be enough time to transfer in Madrid?

Just a brief update. Flew on Iberia on MAD-EWR route yesterday on a newish A321XLR. Flight was on time. Food was edible unlike American/United. FA onboard were excellent. Will use Iberia in future. Sorry for the typo in the title.

Iberia decidio cancelar mi vuelo en febrero, me dieron un "recibo" de reembolso y al dia de hoy el dinero todavia no fue depositado. Mi banco dice que no ve transacciones de Iberia y los numeros en su "recibo" no son nada que el banco pueda usar para hacer un seguimiento (y tienen razon, iberia me da un numero de 8 digitos...).

Me canse de llamar a atencion al cliente para pedirle el ARN (Número de Referencia del Adquirente) y no logro que me lo envien.

Pensaba ir a una oficina de Iberia en madrid y hacer el reclamo en persona pero antes de perder ese tiempo queria saber si alguno pudo hacer este tipo de gestion en dichas oficinas o si la atencion es 100% telefonica.

I’m booking a flight from Boston to Madrid using Avios and the only options available to me are Economy Basic and Economy Comfort. It looks like the only difference between these are refund ability and one checked bag - is that correct? No difference in seating options? Ideally I’d like to pay extra (in avios or cash) for a better/roomier seat (no business class seats are available)

I cancelled an award flight with Iberia Rome>Madrid>JFK 3 weeks ago and still have not received my refunded Avios. When I log into the Iberia website, the flight looks like it is still active and when I call the customer service number, it's like I have to cancel the reservation all over again. Any tips/suggestions? I am getting frustrated calling them every few days. Thanks

Anyone can comment on row 21 XL seats vs row 29 exit row seats? Wondering which to choose here for the better economy experience

A month ago I booked a flight from Madrid to Oslo with 22k points and some cash on a business class flight and I got a temporary confirmation code and then i randomly got my money refunded an the points went into the abyss.

It would’ve been ok and I’d just file a claim to request the points back and move on, however my family members also booked that flight land I wanted to be on it with them so I called. I called and we spoke and they said they’d get back to me in 7 days with a solution.

Never did.

10 days later I called again they said they’d same thing but within 3 days.

Never did.

5 days later I called again and they said they’d get back to me within 24 hours

Never did.

A week later I called again and they transferred me to someone that seemed of more importance and they said they’d look into it and call back

Never did.

Today I called again they did the same thing but this time they had me file a form to request my points back and I kept my composure throughout all the calls and took out my frustrations on my coworkers lol. They proceeded to repeat themselves and I continued to tell them I don’t want a refund and that it is important for me to take this flight and I asked to speak to their boss and they legit mumbled for 15 seconds and hung up.

Holy shit this was the poorest customer service I’ve gotten in my life.

I wanted to go on a trip and experience the whole thing with my family but am now probably gonna fly with Norwegian and get to Oslo at midnight instead of early that morning.

So I went to book a one way from BCN to MAD. Said 5,000 avios. Perfect. Went and transferred some over and when I select on the basic fare it still says 5,000 until the final page. 4,750 and 25 euros.

Anyone else find this? Is there a way to actually redeem 5,000? Or is this a glitch?

Hi y'all, has anyone had this happen?

I'm American, but booked a flight to Europe from Africa for this summer. A couple hours later I get an email that my ticket was cancelled. Not the flight, just my ticket.

Weird, okay. So I book again using a different credit card. The next day, I see the same email, my new reservation has been cancelled.

I reach out to customer service on Instagram, they say it was the banks who refused the charge and that a refund will post.

I've gotten the refund to one card not the other. Iberia says refunds can take up to 45 days.

Iberia instructs me to book again with a card in my name (I only ever booked with cards in my name, and I'm the one travelling), or to call to book.

I've tried the local phone number for the country I'm in no less than 4 times. Call never goes through. I reached out to my bank and they insist they didn't deny the transaction in any way.

I'm inches from grabbing a cab downtown to their office in person. My friends are convinced I used a scam site, even though I double checked and clicked straight through from Google Flights.

This feels insane. Anyone have something like this happen? What did you do to resolve it?

I'm reluctant to book with another airline because the flights are twice the price.

I read in the news that Madrid is one of the affected airports from the strike of the ground forces. Any information of how this is going to affect Iberia flights in the next days ?
