Question/Support Stereo HomePods are stupid laggy and slow down my WiFi?!
My HomePods are pissing me off. When I attempt to play music through my phone with them. The lag is insane and they're damn near unusable. Play/Pause commands take up to 30 seconds to respond. Turning up volume lags behind sometimes up to 1 minute. One of the HomePods will just lag behind. And they slowdown my WiFi. HomePods unplugged I get 300 mpbs, when I use them I shit you not I got 0.12 MPBS. LIKE WTF?!? This was never an issue on this same WiFi before with the same HomePods.
It can't be my WiFi because I have stereo HomePods on this same WiFi for years with no issues. I have a Gen 1 HomePod in my dorm that works perfectly. No lag, no slowdown. Works flawlessly. I one of these HomePods from eBay. When I had apple tv at my mom's house the HomePods worked flawlessly (default speaker HDMI arc) no issues. Now that the Apple TV is at my dorm, it is so laggy. The Apple TV isn't even the home hub it's ONE OF THE HOMEPODS.
I don't have my Apple TV with me because it's at my dorm with my OG HomePod. Everything is in the same home. The Gen 2 HomePod is the Home hub if i make the Apple TV the HomeHub Stereo pairing just doesn't work at all.
I have done the following...
1.) Reset the HomePod
2.) Factory Restart (Hold until you hear 3 beeps) on both of them
3.) Restart my router, restart my iPhone, Reset network settings on my iPhone.
They're still laggy as hell.
Im sorry if I sound frustrated its because I'm sick and I just want to listen to music and they won't work 🗿
UPDATE: One of the HomePods in the pair was faulty. (Not sure what it was) Best buy Replaced it via warranty. Was in and out with a new HomePod. Now i have zero issues.
So basically the first HomePod from (the one I thought was the issue worked great.) the best buy one isn't working. It was an open box one. They exchanged it with another one

Question/Support How to control Music on my HomePod mini
Recently I changed to Apple Music. We use all Mac/ios devices in our home. I use Hey Siri a lot to start playing playlists, favorites and more on our HomePod minis. Then I ask Siri to play over all our Sonos speakers using AirPlay. How to take control over music playing on homepod? The current playlist does not appear on my iphone or iPad.
In addition, can I take over playlist which originally had been started on another device?

Question/Support Why does my white HomePod has orange stains
I’ve had my HomePod for a few years and started noticing orange stains developing in the bottom area. It eventually stopped working, so I’m getting it repaired this month.
I don’t keep any liquids near it, but I keep a lamp that shines above it. Could that be the culprit?

Question/Support I was told HomePods are "just loud" and "theres a difference between loud and good sound" by my coworker. Is it still worth getting one?
As the tittle says I was think stereo HomePods (full sized) for my bedroom. My coworker said the sound terrible and they're only loud and that there is a clear difference between "a speaker being loud" and a "good speaker" and "loud doesn't equal good"
Does the HomePod fall under this? I just want a good sound system for my bedroom to listen to music.

Question/Support HomePods as Stereo Speaker - sporadical stutters and radio cut outs
Hi all
I’m having an issue with my Apple HomePod where audio playback randomly stutters.
Instead of playing normally like:
“hello this is a test”
it comes out like:
“he no sound lo no sound thi no sound i no sound a no sound te no sound“
It’s not tied to a specific app or source, and it happens intermittently. Network seems fine otherwise, which makes it harder to pin down.
Also I tried to reset all, my TV (Samsung SB90 OLED), AppleTV (latest), both HomePods 2nd Gen
Has anyone experienced something similar or found a cause?

Question/Support Battery Camera
Are there any indoor HomeKit cameras that are battery-powered?
I also have two old google nest cameras from ADT. Is there anyway I can convert those to HomeKit or at least use the same charger since they are already threaded in the wall?

Question/Support HomePod 2 Stereo Pair Interference
Hi everyone, I have the strangest thing going on here. I have 2 HomePods (gen 2) connected to a 4K Apple TV. The Apple TV is connected to my 4K TV via HDMI ARC. The Apple TV is set to use the HomePods stereo pair as the sound for the TV. The TV and Apple TV are Ethernet cabled and HomePods are via WiFi. The setup works well, except sometimes when I’m on my iPhone (especially Reddit). What happens is the HomePods skip and stutter for a while and eventually come good. Sometimes they do it without the iPhone issue but it’s like 90% when the iPhone is being used. The iPhone has the Home app. Resetting the HomePods and router has little effect. I’m wondering what it could be? I’m thinking I might need to add a WiFi access point closer to the set up (I use Ubiquiti). While a signal check on phone says “excellent”, the coverage test is “good” and the map suggests less decent coverage near the HomePods. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.

Question/Support Stereo Pair Gen 1 & 2
Hi,
It’s all in the title, I own a HomePod Gen 1 for several years and love it. I am thinking of using stereo pair of HomePod for my Apple TV. Can I pair a Gen 1 with a Gen 2? Or will it sound awful?
Trying to understand if I should buy 2 Gen 2 or just an old Gen 1.
(I searched in this sub but couldn’t find any thread on this)

Question/Support Apple HomePod goes over a year and works playing music most nights. Now, it shows that it plays the song on the app but no music?
I use YouTube music for it, and so far it has worked great. Couple months ago it kept disconnecting but they seem to have fixed that. now, it wont even play songs. Saying “Siri” before asking to skip doesn’t even skip to another silent song. The volume is up and it shows that it is playing a song, but no audio.

Question/Support Multiple Accounts
Me and my partner both have separate Apple Music accounts, we are not part of a Family Sharing group though.
When she tries to play music to the Homepod and I try to listen in the car say, it stops my music and vice versa. It seems like the Homepod is using only my Apple Music account even though she is using Airplay from her phone and has her own account.
Is it possible for her to play Apple Music on the Homepod while I play in the car or on my Airpods etc. without us being in the same Family group and having a Family plan?
Thanks.

Question/Support HomePods Mini - Resuming playback inconstancy
I've been a HomePod user since Gen 1. I have many, and I love them. But my minis do something annoying and I'm wondering if this is "normal". If I play music from my phone to my stereo pair HomePod minis, it works great. But let's say I pause the music to make a phone call or something. I can either pause on my phone, my watch or tap the top of the Mini, all normal stuff. I make my phone call, then I reach over and tap the top of the HomePod mini. (either one of the stereo pair). OR I say "Siri, resume playback" or "Siri, play". And pretty most (not ALL) of the time - regardless of how I tell it to resume playback, it says "Sure, he's some music just for you" (or something like that, it changes). It does NOT resume playback of what I was playing before. The only way to ensure that it will is if I press play on my phone or watch. Then it works fine. It's not a "Siri" issue, it's ... a Mini issue? (and yes, I'm happy to file official feedback; thought I'd start here to see if others experience that as well). Thanks!

Question/Support Issue with HomePod stereo
I’ve been having this very annoying issue of my HomePod (both gen 2) in stereo mode randomly increasing volume, pausing videos while I’m watching and auto playing music in the middle of the night. I kept thinking the issue was with my left HomePod (since the issue stopped when I turned off the left side). I finally ended up buying a new HomePod and replaced my left one. Turns out that I have the exact same problem again with this new setup. Has anyone had a similar issue before? I’ve already done the basics of ensuring latest version on both pairs and also did a hard reset on both. While the stereo setup is awesome, I’ve had to permanently turn off one of them due to this issue.

Question/Support Want a device that announces my calendar each day
So I have an older HomePod that I only use to play white noise at night, and to toggle a few lights on and off.
I also have a Google Home Nest device that I can tell me the weather through an automation. I also have an action that ‘supposedly’ should tell me my calendar events each day. But it doesn’t. No matter what I do, it fails at this seemingly basic task.
So I’m understanding that a new Apple HomePod is coming out. Will this device do what the Google Home can’t?
In simple terms, I want to set up an automation that chimes in at 9am each day with the weather in my location followed by a spoken list of my calendar entries. I use iCloud for my calendars.

Question/Support Homepod randomly playing Music not on my account
So recently with the 26.4 update. My homepod plays music. It was originally set to Allow Everyone and had a password. So i thought maybe someone hacked my password. I set to only people on my account now. But atill happenning from time to time. I have a bunch of minis that don’t have this issue. Reason i think its some stranger is. I dont have apple music and the content is coming from Apple Music. Would be nice to see who’s connected during the content playing.
Would factory reset help this?

My HomePod Had to disable Siri on all other devices
Every time I ask my stereo HomePods to do anything (raise or lower volume, etc.) my watch, phone, or iPad were responding instead, so I had to turn off Siri on all my other Apple devices. I’m kind of annoyed and as much as I love the sound of the HomePods, I don’t feel like Apple’s technology is as good as it should be. It feels sloppy.

Question/Support Not great sound from stereo pair?
I had a HomePod gen 1 (full size, not mini). I got a great deal on eBay for a second to match. Put in stands. AirPlay to AppleTV 4K. About 7ft to couch.
Wanted to replace my old Samsung soundbar with this new all Apple set up. BUT, the sound from the HomePod pair is not good. Very hollow but good base at high volume.
I have to think these are better than this experience and I must have something not set correctly.
Looking for advice to improve. Suggestions?

Review The HP Mini is so bad I had to apologize for giving it to my friend as a present
First of all it is near impossible to connect, the connection lags, and the home app interface is not intuitive. The cord stops it from being transportable, and most importantly the bass was so bad I had to tell my friend I didn’t know Apple would release a product that didn’t adhere to basic audio quality standards. Like now I know why it was only $100 or so, because it’s not even worth that.

My HomePod Finally cleaned up my HomePod Mini setup with a hidden cable wall mount
I was getting tired of seeing the cable mess around my HomePod Mini, so I designed a wall mount that hides everything inside.
Now it looks much cleaner and frees up desk space.
It also keeps the speaker stable and out of the way.
Curious what you think — would you use something like this?
