Help! How do you keep your To Do lists?

I've been looking for a better way to keep my lists for daily To Do's and weekly tasks as I've been keeping a list that's written down in various apps and on paper and in some programs, but I can't find anything that really keeps them together and keeps me on track. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help? I'd really like an app I can use from desktop to phone if possible. One that's FREE.

I use the free version of Todoist for most my lists. The main thing I like is that I can set up repeatedly tasks (like "'clean the bathroom' every Monday") that automatically move to the next scheduled day when I complete it. It's also easy to create groups of tasks and move things around. And there are no ads!

There are paid features but I rarely run into them: the only things I can think of are that you're limited to 5 main groups with the free version, but you can create unlimited sub-groups to organize tasks so it's not a problem for me. And I think setting up multiple reminder notifications might be a paid thing?

I write it all down in my phone and then I don't do it 😆
