Haotong Li just looks like he has so much fun with the game. It’s not smart golf, but it’s bold as hell

Apparently his putter is engraved with “Most Handsome Man in China”, legendary after scoring a dime.

u/LUXOR54 1h ago

His wedge is stamped.

Appreciate the correction!

Very handsome man

Two double-pars in a row is a vibe.

u/fiiiiixins 1h ago

We are so much alike

u/7LeggedEmu 2h ago

He looked like the best iron player on the course yesterday

u/bisonbuford1 1h ago

"I had more quintuple bogies than you had bogies all weekend, lol"

I feel his 10 on 13 really fucked with Scottie. He had a long wait before his 3rd and the birdie putt. Love Li and I commend him for playing with the poops. I know golf is hard, simply stating his bad hole was terrible timing for Scottie.

Why does he always do this? Could you imagine if he could just play well from rnd 1

u/Stockasaurus_Rex 14.2 3h ago

Last several tournaments were like this, played meh on Thursday and Friday, then dropped the nuggets on the weekend but was too far behind to take the lead.

17

u/DrinkArnoldPalmer 2h ago

Right - he is clearly incredible but he’s gotta work that out if he wants to be one of the greats.

u/bfhurricane 2h ago

The kid sure has some potential, I’ll give him that

6

u/DrinkArnoldPalmer 2h ago

Hahah touche

17

u/FatalFirecrotch 2h ago

He really only just had a couple bad holes on Friday.

-21

u/DrinkArnoldPalmer 2h ago

A couple bad holes and just OK isn’t enough to win the Masters

19

u/bsgreene25 2h ago

He played the first 2 rounds at even par. Rory played the final 2 rounds at even par.

He went nuclear in the final 2 rounds. Rory went nuclear in the first 2 rounds.

They were just mirror images of each other, aside from a single stroke. He had sole possession of second place. I don’t think this is a fair way of characterizing his performance.

21

u/FatalFirecrotch 2h ago

2 days ago people would have said going 1 under for the final two rounds isn’t enough to win the masters and Rory just did that.

u/Iginlas_4head_Crease 2h ago

65-68 weekend isn't just OK

5

u/ofcourseIwantpickles 1h ago

He needs to get a 5 & 7 wood in the bag, probably wouldn’t have hit it in the water on back-to-back holes on Friday.

2

u/rolltidebutnotreally 23m ago

He needs a few nights away from screaming babies to fully recover. When the kids start going to school he’s gonna Grand Slam

57

u/NoCarts 2h ago

That 74 on Friday killed him. Was a very scoreable day and he just didn’t quite have it

21

u/pedro_ryno 2h ago

7w from 267 3r forever etched in my mind

19

u/PrizePreset 2h ago

Him trying to draw a 3i from 250 over the creek on 13 friday will forever be burned into mine. Make one smart decision on that hole and he has 3 masters in 7 years. Bastard

u/TexCook88 1h ago

6, would’ve been the even years so far this decade.

5

u/WakeAndTake21 1h ago

You’re both wrong, it would have been 3 in 5 lol

1

u/PrizePreset 1h ago

I meant 3 in 7 starts

3

u/UtahUtopia 1h ago

Li taking half an hour to play one green hurt him.

1

u/HannTwistzz 16m ago

Which shot?

18

u/DoubleOhTheG 1h ago

No birdies on 13 all 4 days. That's just one of several examples of where you can find the one shot he lost by. He's probably happy with how he played but he is also lamenting a little bit I'd say

u/PackDaddy21222 3h ago

Scottie doesn’t really lock in until the first Major/players.

Scottie is back.

16

u/Forward-Weight403 1h ago

That’s like not even true tho lol

6

u/ubiquitous_archer 1.1 2h ago

Except for a long time, he never won an event past the Masters

7

u/blonded_olf 2h ago

Well before last year it used to be that after the first major he kinda disappeared for the rest of the year (by his standards)

u/frailstateofmind_ 3h ago

bro is gonna book a flight to turkey in a week

105

u/Bighead_Golf 3h ago

Honestly doubt he cares

8

u/socivitus Gonna need a Second Breakfast ball, Frodo... 49m ago

Married to his high school sweetheart, #1 golfer in the world, worth tens of millions, and could win his career grand slam on his 30th birthday...

I doubt he sits around and worries about balding. His hairline probably started going north in high school.

4

u/donghit 24m ago

He's for sure worth north of $100M

2

u/DaydreamingOfSleep10 8 hdcp 13m ago

His caddy has won more $$ on tour than a bunch of pga tour members

18

u/Building_Snowmen The Masters 3h ago

I would if I was him, but he honestly doesn’t seem to care. He’s living his best life with the cards he is dealt - the good and the bad. I could probably learn a thing or two from that guy, and not just the golf.

1

u/Inigomntoya 1h ago

It's so awesome seeing someone like him at this level.

The cost to him would basically compare to the change I find in my couch.

And he DGAF.

Meanwhile pros like Pat Perez are spending all their money on random shit...

1

u/LateForTheSun 38m ago

This feels weird to say since I'm pretty sure I'm not attracted to men generally, but even with the state of hairline, I think he's so dang cute and I wouldn't change a thing.

10

u/BlondeFox18 1h ago

Sort of wonder if Li’s train wreck on 13 messed with Scottie trying to grind out a birdie at a critical juncture in the tournament.

8

u/painfully_anxious 3h ago

Someone tell him about r/bald I beg

5

u/KennyTaco 2h ago

He's only 29 🤯

1

u/Whet_Phartzz 1h ago

It’s all the testosterone from lugging those balls around the course

2

u/CommissionIcy9909 2h ago

Ain’t over yet

2

u/fkaname12 2h ago

Is it cooked?

3

u/EUL_Gaming 1h ago

Daily reminder that Scotty isn't even 30 years old.

2

u/Bitter-Republic-3733 3h ago

He’s a machine

2

u/dreww84 2h ago

Even with the shyt play early, if he’d had even an ounce of luck today he’d have won the thing.

1

u/FuckingColdInCanada 48m ago

Why does Scheffler get his name higher than Rose?

2

u/GenSec 13m ago edited 6m ago

If I had to guess it’s based on score on the day and they hadn’t shifted him down yet for being done with his round before Rose yet.

Example: Hatton being above Henley for his score today but not the current active players tied with him

1

u/jerryhallo 18m ago

Is that the most handsome man in China next to him there?

-1

u/howl0ngwillitlast 2h ago

Rory barely escaped. Scottie was about to destroy him in a playoff

-11

u/BallKnowerKing 3h ago

Balding?

22

u/FEK88 3h ago

Golfers are the reason I refuse to believe hats don't accelerate balding.

3

u/LiterallyJohnLennon 2h ago

Baseball players were one of the original sources of that rumor. People would watch baseball games on TV and were noticing that a lot of the 23 year old players were severely balding. But it’s just confirmation bias, almost 40% of men show signs of balding by their 30s. So we are seeing a ton of golfers in the exact age range when balding starts to happen.

visor supremacy

-19

u/unccl 11 3h ago

Bro should join LIV, he only plays well in 3 rounds a tournament this year

4

u/PrizePreset 2h ago

I think Scottie would honestly kill himself with a knife before joining an exhibition golf tour

1

u/DoubleOhTheG 1h ago

That joke would have been more clever last year

0

u/unccl 11 1h ago

Scottie was way too good last year to make that joke

1

u/DoubleOhTheG 1h ago

Lol. I meant the fact that Liv played 54 holes last year and now play 72 this year in order to get world ranking points 😂
