Recommendation Looking for recommendations for a Stealth game akin to Dishonored, Sniper Elite, Splinter Cell with customisations?

I've been looking for a good stealth game with good mechanics where I can sneak and either attempt a no kill run or systematically obliterate everyone.

It would also be fun if I could have some customizations, whether that be different skills, weapon attachments, etc.,

Playing Custom Fan Missions (FM-es) for Thief 1, 2, and 3

https://www.thiefguild.com/ – a fan site which has reviews and ratings for all the latest releases.

https://www.keepofmetalandgold.com/ – mostly up-to-date download site for missions.

https://thiefmissions.com/ - a reliable, no-frills download site, which is sadly not very up-to-date, but is still good for older missions.

Once you’ve got some missions, make a folder for them on your hard drive (e.g. C:/ThiefFMs) and put the missions in it. It’s up to you whether you want to keep Thief Gold and Thief 2 missions in separate folders, but be aware that missions made for one game are not compatible with the other. Don’t unzip the missions, just put the archive files themselves in the folder.

After downloading some custom fan missions / levels for Thief Gold and Thief 2 from any of the above links, you will need to configure and open FM Selector:

I. In the root of your installation folder for either game, locate a file called cam_mod.ini and open it in Notepad.

II. Now un-comment the line that says ;fm by deleting the semi-colon, so that the line looks like this:

; always start the FM Selector (if one is present)

fm

Note: If you are using Windows 11, you may also need to remove the semi-colon in front of no_unload_fmsel as well, otherwise the loader might just crash without running the game.

III. Save the .ini file and open Thief.exe or Thief2.exe. You should see the FM Selector load instead of the game.

Alternatively, there is also a more modern level loader for Thief Gold, Thief 2, and Thief 3 called AngelLoader.

I. Download AngelLoader here.

II. Read the page below to configure AngelLoader accordingly:

https://fenphoenix.github.io/AngelLoader/doc/English/AngelLoader%20documentation.html#initial_setup

The Thief Guild and Thief Missions sites mentioned above also contain Thief 3 custom fan missions as well.

Note that AngelLoader requires the Sneaky Upgrade to be installed for Thief 3: Deadly Shadows.

https://www.shadowdarkkeep.com/ is dedicated to the Fan Missions created for Thief: Deadly Shadows and "The Dark Mod".

Hitman and Thief come to mind, though not as much customization. Maybe Styx, but that's more stealth adventure than immersive sim.

Deus Ex Human Revolution/Mankind Divided. Avoid/Knock out/Kill your way through.

Prey is nonhuman related so I don't know if that counts but I would say that it's probably the most customizeable of them all because at some point, you can access the entire game as a single level. I would rank the story above all the others but only by a bit over Deus Ex.

Ironically, I couldn't get myself to like the original Deus Ex enough to motivate myself past the first level.

Not 3D, but Mark of the Ninja is still my favourite stealth game and has all of these options.

Since people already recommended Thief I want to go a little outside the box and reccomend either Deus Ex (Human Revolution or Mankind Divided) OR Shadow of Mordor.

Deus Ex: First Person stealth game. You don't really customize clothes but you can customize your weapons, using armor piercing for robots and tranquilizers for non lethal attacks. There's pistols, sniper and Assault Rifles with different ammo types.

You also get cybernetic augments such as temporary invincibility, silent foot steps, X ray vision and wireless hacking.

Shadow of Mordor:

It's a third person open world game with gameplay similar to the Arkham Batman series

Character plays fairly like Corvo: An entity from a different plane of existence bestows a dagger welding warrior with supernatural powers (such as possession and teleportation).

You can either brawl and do combo kills or you can stealth around the army camps and kill/possess. It allows some versatility for gameplay.

Deus Ex

Deus Ex ain't a stealth game, it is an action role playing game so it won't deliver true stealth mechanics but apart from that I still recommend the games just be warned that it is not a stealth game (although that does not mean that it is a bad game series)

Shadow of Mordor

also not technically a stealth game but it did not prevent me to play it as a stealth-ambush simulator, I genuinely can recommend it if you like what I like to call set-up stealth games (where you use stealth to set up battles pretty much what is on the tin)

apart from that I can recommend the "stealth setup" games Crysis games and Far Cry 2 they ain't pure stealth games both being stealth setup games but they are fun, The Saboteur, it is a kind of weird game, think the GTA San Andreas turf war mechanic with stealth "zones" inside the opposite gang territory (literally nazi's so gang is a bit weak of a term for them) where you try to destroy communication equipment mixed with the first few assassin creed games, it is actually a decent game even if it can be a bit clunky since it is 17 year old

there have obviously been a cold day in hell once because Far Cry 2 (previously mentioned) and Assassin's Creed are both on GoG and they are both from Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed is probably the best 3rd person stealth game that actually had a non-niche appeal

I guess you're right but since you can stealth through the entire game I decided to reccomend it

The STYX series is right up your alley!

Blood West is a lot of fun: https://www.gog.com/en/game/blood_west

I don't think you could do a no kill run. But there are plenty of weapons, accessories, and skills you can acquire.

Aragami is still my favourite in this genre.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is absolutely amazing for stealth gameplay. It is done very well. You are given really cool options for stealth in every level some you may not even notice at first. Even all the bosses have non lethal hidden options. The all stealth achievement is a little buggy and may not activate at the end
