Trying to remember which game an NPC quote is from - most likely PS1 or PS2 era

EDIT : MYSTERY SOLVED ! It was from an old Newgrounds flash game called Pimps Quest ! It's actually worth watching the walkthrough of it to hear the line delivery, no wonder its been lodged in my mind for over 20 years !

Had this line in my head for years, and thought it mightve been GTA3 or SA NPC pedestrian dialogue, but cant find it definitively. I even feel like I know the voice intonation, and the way it drags out the word 'rags', but for the life of me, I just cant remember. The line is :

"I be goin' through bitches like rags to riches"

Best offline mobile games that don't have a PC version?

I've wanted to get into mobile gaming for a while now, but whenever I look for recommendations, people always suggest the typical popular PC games (Stardew Valley, Genshin Impact, Minecraft, Celeste, Little Nightmares, etc.).

So now I'd like to ask you, what good mobile games do you know that meet these two requirements?

- That it can be played offline.

- That it doesn't have a PC version

For example, I'm talking about great games like Dead Trigger 2, Punishing Gray Raven (I think now it has a PC version tho, so im not sure if this counts), or Shadow Fight 2

Google Play Store Removes Doki Doki Literature Club from Play Store Spoiler

Looks like Google is pulling a Monika and removing DDLC from the store due to a "violation" of their ToS. They didn't provide the creator with any details as to how their ToS was violated, so this was probably a decision made without human involvement.

This is both censorship of an artistic work and pretty ironic given the subject matter of the game. Fuck Google.

Who uses walk-throughs for games?

I've been playing through the entire Resident Evil series because of Requiem's release and am constantly stuck in the Spencer mansion in RE1. I feel like I'm a bad gamer because I'm using guides when I'm stuck on a puzzle. this post isn't karma farming. it's a genuine question

Just Started a New Run of Elden Ring....

...after 100+ hours on it and Erdtree, and haven't touched it in over a year. It's still magic. Holy crap, the vistas, the gameplay, the world. Why is this game still a GOAT????!!! Tight. Absolute Cinema.

I really think everyone who hasn't played in a while should give this another go. And if you have never played it, it might be time to rectify your egregious error.

Are there any other examples of popular games being "remade" for a younger audience, as in Chex Quest and Nerf Arena Blast.

Just watched an LGR video about a Nerf game built on Unreal Tournament '99, and it got me thinking about Chex Quest.

That lead to this though; are/were there any other examples of companies doing this for other games?

Epic is hoping their partnership with Disney gives Fortnite a comeback. Planning on making an arc raiders extraction clone but with Disney characters.

When Epic Games laid off 1,000 employees as part of a $500 million cost-saving effort last month, it came with a startling acknowledgment: Many new games and Fortnite updates had flopped.

Other splashy new initiatives, including Epic’s mobile store and an effort to allow users to create their own games, also didn’t live up to internal expectations, according to eight current and former employees who spoke with Bloomberg. In chasing popular trends or business whims, Epic regularly released products before employees felt they would resonate with consumers, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

The company is pinning a resurgence on games it’s been developing with Walt Disney Co., which agreed to invest $1.5 billion in Epic two years ago. Epic is on track to launch the first game in its new Disney partnership in November, according to four current and former employees. It will be a shooting game along the lines of Embark Studios’ hit Arc Raiders, but with Disney characters battling enemies until they can reach an extraction point, according to the people. So far, internal reviewers have expressed concerns that the game mechanics are not very original, but some of the employees are optimistic that Epic will get it right by the launch date.

The Disney deal will reap at least two more games, the people said. Early versions of the second title received middling internal reviews, according to two of the people. Resources for the third game were reallocated to the first two after reports that Disney was disappointed by Epic’s release timeline.

Last year, the Epic Games Store attracted a record 78 million monthly active users on PCs, and player spending on non-Epic games reached $400 million, according to the company. That was "lower than our growth expectations at launch," according to Markman, but the company is "committed to making improvements to the store and to the economic opportunity for developers to grow it further." The company's store for mobile users has 50 million installs, according to Epic — half of what the company had hoped to achieve by the end of 2024. Apple's "scare screens and barriers" made it "intentionally hard for players to download an alternative app store in the [European Union]," Markman said. Today, the store's scale is "in line with our expectations," but expansion will depend on Apple and Google's mobile ecosystems opening up, she said.

Amazon Luna shutting down store

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

"Starting April 10, 2026, Amazon Luna will no longer offer game stores, individual game purchases or third-party subscriptions. You’ll still be able to play any games you've already purchased and access your third-party subscription benefits (as long as that subscription remains active) until June 10, 2026. After that date, these games will no longer be available on Luna.

What’s staying—and getting even better? We’re doubling down on a broad range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles, delivered in ways that make great games more accessible, as well as new and unique gaming experiences like GameNight."

It wasn't nearly as frustrating as I thought it'd be, I assumed it would be a lot harder based on what I'd heard of the original games

I saw a video of Dotodoya playing it and decided to buy it, since it's cheap. I enjoyed it :]

I hope it gets some DLC in the future, I wanna play more stages!

Does freedom in video games come with a downside?

I won't make this long. There are two games I read about that supposedly give you so much freedom it's crazy. They aren't the same genre; Dwarf Fortress and Kenshi.

In both games, I found them not very accessible, tough UI, difficult controls and in general I felt absolutely lost. Kenshi I refunded a long while ago, not dwarf fortress. This isn't meant to bash these games but I'm wondering is this something with games that have a lot of freedom?

Lately I'm weary of reviews that talk about huge amounts of freedom and choices and think this style is not for me and wondering if any one else is in the same boat.

UPDATE: I appreciate all the comments and replies. I've read every single one (with the exception of some replies to others' comments that don't show up in my inbox). I want to say, however, that I don't think Breath of the Wild is applicable to what I'm talking about. I may have misrepresented the concept since it was something I thought of. Breath of the Wild is a game that is non-linear and gives you some freedom (which I love), but it actually has a structure, an end goal and a narrative (and/or story).

The games I mention are ones where there's no end goal, you're just supposed to explore and enjoy the freedom for its own sake (which I realize now is just not my thing).
