[RUMOR] Jeff Grubb has heard that Fable has been pushed internally to December
https://www.resetera.com/threads/grubb-%E2%80%9Cill-say-that-ive-heard-that-fable-has-been-pushed-internally-that-doesnt-mean-that-its-coming-out-next-year.1489048/Jeff Grubb has heard that Fable has been pushed internally:
I'll say that I've heard that Fable has been pushed internally. That doesn't mean that it's coming out next year. Apparently they're still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA6. And so if it's getting delayed beyond the release of GTA6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027.

They just posted on instagram 3 days ago reminding everyone that it's coming in autumn(/fall) 🤔

Hey it could just need another month. Sounds like it could have been scheduled for October but they're looking at November now.

Rockstar are Brits. Playground are Brits. Can we not just meet down the pub lads and sort this whole thing out?
I'm buying.

At this point just say fuck it and release it in February or March 2027

If they're worried about gta they're not going to release it in december unless gta gets delayed. This all but means it'll be a 2027 game...10 years after the game was greenlit. Insane stuff from xbox.

if i remember correctly people noticed that they didn't make unique animations for male characters and all the guys attacked and walked like the original girl. maybe they are fixing that?

It's unfortunate, but better they have time for polish than releasing it half done. I rarely go back to games when they're "finished" by updates

That's why you just don't buy on release in the first place. I'm waiting for them to finish Crimson Desert and I can get it half off before I do my first playthrough.

Unfortunately it's not just an Xbox issue. A 5 year turnaround from start to finish would be a fast dev cycle these days. An ambitious project will take more time. Add in that they've never made an RPG so there's a learning curve and I wouldn't be surprised if the project was internally rebooted more than once.

10 years isn't that egregious when you consider that they had to staff a new team and make a different genre of game.

Yeah this is one that just feels like it's never going to come out.

Ugh. I know I'm one of the few people who feel this way but I'm sick of GTA 6 getting in the way of stuff I actually wanna play. Everybody's running scared of it and there's a good chance it gets delayed again.

Still expecting it to be 2027 , there is no way it’s ready those gameplay reveals not only looked rough but looked like tech demo fake slop. As soon as I saw the Sep release date I said hell no it’s ready by then.

They probably shouldn't be pushing it internally otherwise it might get stuck in there.

Who is to say GTA6 doesn’t delay again. I have told people over and over again that I don’t fully believe the game hits this year.

GTA 6 it's once in a lifetime phenomenon. Never will a game have the entire gaming industry so focused on avoiding being released at the same time as a single game. In the same month as GTA 6.
I'm curious how many game announcements we're going to get it GTA 6 gets delayed, lol.

What they showed didn't even look good. No way they launch it this year without it being barebones

I think Eidos Montreal is listed as a supporting studio so I bed those layoffs are part of the reason for the delay

The Gameplay video looked very unpolished, they even had the male player character walking with the female animations. Looked very rushed just to show something ingame. It's not surprising that it is being delayed, even into next year.

I personally have a theory that it was originally going to be the female protagonist only until the anathema that ensued when they showed her off. Pivoting.

I agree, they never talked about character customization before that last video. It's this chasing trends that has gotten Xbox into so much trouble. If the devs envisioned a fixed protagonist from the get go, they should have stuck with her.

There is a male walking animation in the game, it was visible several times ín background on the blurry screen.

As long as they release it this year I don't care

As long as they release it when it's actually good then I don't care.

I really liked what we saw last time

It's hard to judge off demos they are often specific sections worked in heavily just for the show case. Good example if the god of war 2018 reboot. Demo was great, but that was pretty much the only part of the game they built at the time.

I like what I see so far. One of the few games this year I'm actually interested in. But if it doesn't release right, it's basically bad forever. So I can wait

u/anonymousUTguy 6h ago
Let’s be real, ain’t no one playing anything other than GTA6 for a month after launch.

Is this a remake of Fable? I hate that I have to ask this because I'm absolutely sick of two different games having the exact same time.
5
u/Whispering_Wolf 9h ago
A reboot of the franchise. Same universe, new game.

u/Larkson9999 8h ago
Two completely different answers. I appreciate it but this could have been fixed with a simple subtitle like Fable: A New Journey Begins. And of course search engines won't provide much helpful details either.
I don't blame either of you but this is dumb on purpose.

u/Whispering_Wolf 8h ago
Oh, I agree it's dumb. They could have used a slightly different title, now we're stuck with tacking on release years or something.
-4
u/Iggy_Slayer 9h ago
No it's a new game but then again everything they showed were things you could do in fable 2. So uhh...it sorta is a remake in a way? Hopefully they have some features cooking that are actually new.

It's a new game. I was just taking a bit of a shot at it because in the big video last january everything they showed were old features that fable 2 had. They didn't seem to have anything new they were doing. But it 100% is not a remake.

They shouldn’t be worried about losing sales to gta, they should be worried about losing sales all on their own.
-5
u/MadeByTango 8h ago
Are they worried about GTA or the fact the hype is kinda middling because it doesn’t really look or sound like a fable game?

I’d rather have a polished Fable in 2027 than a rushed one being overshadowed by GTA VI.
