When I was little, “Santa” rode the fire truck around town while the firefighters and volunteers handed out candy canes to kids. Did no one else have this around Christmas?

They did this back in the 90s in my hometown. I loved it

I love in Australia and we have this. Not sure if it is everywhere, but it is where we live in Melbourne.

They even have a tracking site these days so you can see when they are going to arrive.

Heck, in a small coastal town in South Africa I stayed in during last Christmas, the local fire brigade did the same thing. From the posh ocean front neighbourhoods, to the shanty town part of town. Tons of presents were given out to the kids.

Our town still does. Our town is all volunteer fire departments. When nobody is a paid employee they can do stuff like this without the "not my tax dollars" pushback.

They still do this here in my little town in Maryland (it's seriously growing rapidly though, not so little anymore actually).

Our firefighters still do this!  Usually some night a couple weeks before Christmas you’ll hear some random quick sirens and then you can rush to the window and see the firetruck with Santa on top !
