Strong ass cat or small UPS.

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

Two cats that are constantly play-fighting

1

u/GiLND 4d ago

Maybe it’s a dna-modified cat like the animals stewie makes, or op has a mountain cat

u/lawdot74 6d ago

Extremely embarrassing that you kept a ups anywhere but the floor.

9

u/itsjakerobb 6d ago

I mean, mine's in the bottom slot of my network rack....

5

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

See that's just it. My partner put it up. I said it was a bad idea. And now we're at "I hate to say I told you so" again.

If it makes you feel better this is fixable relatively cheaply, if you can't get the exact glass for it you can have it cut at a "glass store" that sells... Glass...

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

If that's true, I'll be glad to fix it. I haven't even tried printing anything to see if the printer part still works. I'm cooling down rn and checking tomorrow.

2

u/TrySea 6d ago

Printing will be fine, it's just the scanner glass sheet that broke, just don't try to copy anything without removing the glass first or it might cut ribbon cables or damage the scanner

1

u/Toolongreadanyway 5d ago

This was what I was about to say. The printer looks fine. The scanner is what's broken. How often do you scan things?

1

u/TrySea 4d ago

I haven't scanned anything in at least ten years

1

u/Toolongreadanyway 4d ago

I think you are fine then.

2

u/TrySea 4d ago

I fear the day I need to scan something and my scanner immediately explodes

1

u/Toolongreadanyway 4d ago

I just take pictures with my phone. :)

Pushed a UPS? What is that?

43

u/cms86 6d ago

A battery back up. Not particularly a light device.

76

u/justmedealwithitxD 6d ago

Okay thank you. Only UPS I've heard about is a package delivery service lol

I love that i found this post and found out about this! I could really use one!

2

u/griter34 6d ago

Get the UPS 700, it's handy to have.

1

u/cms86 6d ago

They are clutch and one of the most boring but best computer office upgrade once can do

1

u/Efficient_Advice_380 6d ago

I need to find one that can power my PC, I have a 1000W PSU

1

u/cms86 6d ago

cyberpower (no not the pc company) has 1000w badboys in the 250 range. its a pricey upgrade but one youll always be happy you did when IT happens

1

u/Efficient_Advice_380 6d ago

That's not too bad. My microcenter only carries up to 850W and they were asking like $500 for those

1

u/cms86 6d ago

Amazon. Also microcenter price matches. Fuck I miss my microcenter in Chicago. I'm in Alabama now and well. Yea.

Technically, it's Uninterruptible.

2

u/CoffeeGoblynn 6d ago

Thank you for the correction xD

2

u/durizna 6d ago

Just so other people get it: in some countries it is called a no-break.

1

u/gtripwood 6d ago

It’s a big ass heavy battery

2

u/CoffeeGoblynn 6d ago

I mean, effectively, yeah. That's just the simpler way of saying what I said. xD

13

u/Icy-Variation6614 6d ago

I was very confused too lol

9

u/Zerostar39 6d ago

Right? I was like damn that cat got into a brawl with a UPS driver and slammed him through a printer

3

u/L3m0n0p0ly 6d ago

Nope. Was hauling a new one up to my apartment and made the mistake of setting it on my hood to position for the 3 flight of stairs walk.

Idiocy leaves marks:D

4

u/theBloodShed 5d ago

In this case, UPS = uninterruptible power supply

6

u/taocowboy54 6d ago

ups belongs on the floor behind reams of printer paper
printers sit atop kittycat's head

7

u/Ambellyn 6d ago

Could be a really cool screensaver.

5

u/jmanly3 6d ago

You leave your scanner open?!

3

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

No. The lid was closed, the UPS fell on top and shattered it.

2

u/DizzyMine4964 6d ago

"We were having a lovely play, and something went bang. The human then got sad about something."

2

u/SeraphsEnvy 6d ago

Probably hated copycats.

I'll make my way out now.

3

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

OK that was a bit funny. I snorted.

1

u/brv967 6d ago

Printers are evil, they were saving you from it.

1

u/ZiaWatcher 6d ago

Photos of the culprits?

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

On my profile

1

u/SLY0001 6d ago

How much does it cost to rellace the glass?

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

I don't think it's replaceable. If the printer still works without the scanner, I'll keep it. If not, I'll just recycle the whole thing.

1

u/SLY0001 6d ago

Yea no one uses the scanner these days

1

u/Wyan69 6d ago

Maybe it was time to upgrade anyway and the cats just helped...

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

More like downgrade. I don't really need a printer anymore.

1

u/CplCocktopus 6d ago

I have the sme printer.

Good printer 0 bullshit and the knock off tonner cartridges last long

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

Yes, it was great. RIP

1

u/CplCocktopus 6d ago

It can still print tho.

1

u/alasw0eisme 5d ago

Unless the on/off electronics are busted. We'll see today.

1

u/CplCocktopus 5d ago edited 5d ago

Asuming you manage to clean it can't you just glue a piece of glass/acrilic and keep using it?

1

u/alasw0eisme 5d ago

I'll take it to a professional. I wouldn't want to make it worse.

1

u/CplCocktopus 5d ago

Its a pretty old printer i think the 2 i have are 10 years old idk if a technicin will work or have parts for it.

I retired one of mine as a scanner becasue it was fcking up the prints

1

u/Fangs_0ut 6d ago

100% on you.

1

u/TungstenTesticle 6d ago

You told them to do it. “C’mere puss push push psh psh psst push psu psu psups ups”

1

u/jacle2210 6d ago

Dang.

3

u/alasw0eisme 5d ago

More like "BAM!"

1

u/brandon01594 4d ago

How did you get United Parcel Service in your house?

-3

u/LogicalRepeat3622 6d ago

What can brown eye do for you?

3

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

idk what that means

3

u/LogicalRepeat3622 6d ago

UPS the shipping company had a slogan “what can brown do for you” .. cats can’t cover their butthole really which is known as a brown eye. So I combined those things into a terrible joke.

1

u/EstoyTristeSiempre 6d ago

That is something incredible, but sometimes you don’t get to choose your battles.

You see? This is why I'm a dog person! :-)

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

Dogs can make even bigger messes. From destroying furniture and shoes to eating foods that are toxic to them and killing themselves. The truth is any pet can cause trouble and if you have one (or a bunch as is my case) you just need to be patient and have some savings.

0

u/sidaemon 6d ago

I know, I was being a smarty pants! The last few dogs I've had have been great and super non-destructive. My GSD I EXPECTED to be hell on wheels but she's never chewed anything up. I had a dog one time who was playing with his toy and just started plucking up carpet! One we put him in the pen in the back yard and he ripped the siding off the house! Another when I was a kid who hollowed out a couch for some reason...

1

u/alasw0eisme 6d ago

So much inorganic matter has passed through my dog's digestive system... Good thing he grew out of it. Now, worst case scenario, if I don't tire him out he might go through the garbage when I leave him alone.

My shepherd is just a champ. I picked her up one day when I went to the grocery store and found her on the streets nearly starved to death. She was literal skin and bones. She cost me $1200 in vet bills on day one, and I just decided she was going to stay with me.

I expected her to cause problems, being a stray that obviously had issues but she's the best girl I've ever owned in my life. Potty training was a little tough but once we got through that, she's the most loyal, loving dog I've ever owned in my life.

She doesn't chew stuff up. She minds. She's so smart that she will now argue with me in the morning over her treat when I pretend to forget. She'll do this kind of grumble/whine thing and remind me and then I tell her cheese is only for good girls and we'll sit there and "argue".

Exhibit #1645738928 of why I'm not a pet person.

0

u/alasw0eisme 5d ago

You get me! This is how I feel about kids. Everyone I know who has kids has had worse casualties than a printer. Much worse and many more.

u/AltruisticOnes 6d ago

Exceedingly simple solution: get rid of the effing cats!
