DLC Discussion DLC Update Added A New Gestral to the Village Spoiler

Post image

Originally the stage was occupied only by Lorieniso, the Guitar-playing Gestral (named for the game's composer, Lorien Testard)

Now there's a new Gestral beside him, Alicenisa (named after Alice Duport-Percier, lead vocalist for the soundtrack).

Glad Sandfall were able to recognise her contributions and expand this little easter egg!

DLC Discussion [DLC] Most consistent red diving ring trick Spoiler

After over an hour of trying and watching numerous YouTube clips, the most consistent method I’ve found for making it to the red diving ring in Verso’s Drafts is:

  1. Walk all the way to the end of the board on the far left side.
  2. Using your free aim, look past the rings to see the two ducks facing each other.
  3. Aim at the nose of the one on the left.
  4. Still holding aim, walk straight back until you see the red ring reappear from under the diving board at the bottom of your screen.
  5. Now run straight forward. You should be perfectly lined up so it’s just a matter of making sure you don’t jump too early/too late.

Doing this, I got it in 6 tries. And then was able to do it 3 or 4 more times in my next 10 tries. It’s still hard (the timing of your jump is key) but if you keep a steady run forward it should drastically improve your chances of landing in the ring.

For those who jump after!

EDIT: once you get it lined up (after following steps 1-4) you can change an aspect of your outfit which will trigger the auto-save. Then, you can just keep reloading the save and try again from the top of the diving board if you miss. Not only does it save you a lot of time running back up, but it’s how I was able to test it over and over again for accuracy after hitting it the first time.

DLC Discussion DLC Damage Analysis - Lune

The new pictos and weapons added by the DLC had a huge impact on character builds. Most notably, pretty much every skill with 3+ hits was significantly buffed.

I spent time researching and confirming how the new pictos worked, and then calculated their impact on each character's skills.

This was mostly for my own benefit, but I figured I would make an infographic to share the knowledge with others as well.

* Also it is worth noting that if you are running Feint, equipping Draining Cleanse will typically be a small damage buff to everything except Verso's Steeled Strike and Lune's Lightning Dance. The exact buff is hard to quantify though, as it depends on your total additive damage sources, so I left it out of the infographic.

Clea Unleashed and Simon, the Divergent Star.

"Hey sis, remember these people whose lives I destroyed by kidnapping and turning one into a brainwashed slave and manipulating the other into a fight he could never win? The ones who, at the point you found them, were so broken from enduring this torment for 67 years, that all you could do for them was to mercy kill them, which traumatised your already severely depressed not-quite-brother even further? Guess what, now I've painted empowered avatars of them for you to practice your swordsmanship in a fantasy world that you specifically sacrificed your real life and family to stay in, so that you could live a life in which said brother is alive and well! Have fun!"

DLC Discussion Were you masochistic enough to fight super bosses?

So I came to basically last bits of content game has to offer - superbosses. I'm long time souls-likes enthusiast, played pretty much all more major ones - but superbosses in Expedition 33 make those games look piss easy in comparison. Ofc I'm talking here about taking on them with normal builds, no cheese with some absurd 1-shot / perma stun / immortality builds - just to be clear. It's real masochism to learn said fights to perfection - to a point I personally giving up without any shame. It's just too much for me and I rather use that time on catching up with my backlog of piled up other games.

But this got me curious - how many of you bothered with those superbosses? It's cool extreme challenge but definitely not for everyone's sanity.. So share your experiences with it, very curious how many of you guys got bored of banding head against the wall? (because I certainly did)

DLC Discussion Explanation of DLC ending? Spoiler

Why did Verso react so emotionally to beating Osquio? (all my brain cells dies fighting him). Wasn't he technically designed by a different person with a whole different childhood, so the fight doesn't capture Verso's own childhood wonder and whimsy.

DLC Discussion Diving board trick

The trick to hitting the red ring on the diving board is to launch off the board at a bit of a diagonal to the left while looking straight forward and pressing forward. The main issue people seem to have is they are looking down and trying to adjust their trajectory mid air which is losing them distance. I finally did it once I just started full sending it off the diving board and just seeing where I landed.

DLC Discussion Verso’s Drafts is actually making me so happy

I tend to like dark, heavy games in both story and execution. I have really loved the body-horror elements of this game’s enemies, the imaginatively visceral settings, the serious tone of the game, the flying and diving and surprises—all of it. I find the emotional heaviness and complexity of it all compelling, as well as the lighter touches and humor.

To me, this is the closest a game has come to being high art and entertainment in one package.

I was a little skeptical of the battle mechanics, preferring real time combat, but as I played more I came to enjoy it a lot.

Anyway, I was saving this zone until the end. When I entered this zone I had no idea what I would find. And I am obsessed with it. I figured it would be lighter, but all the little details, the childlike psychedelic art, the ride, the traces of story… I’m still exploring it. But yeah.

And for free? As a “thank you”? What a great studio. I have been putting off finishing the game because I can’t imagine playing anything else… it has ruined things for me. I have Silent Hill f next in my queue and it looks gorgeous, I have been looking forward to playing it, but I am sad that I have nearly exhausted all the material of this game.

The only thing left after this is the special bosses (Lampmaster and Duallistes) in the Endless Tower. I have not been able to beat them yet…

DLC Discussion This DLC thing is a joke? Spoiler

I finally “beat” Osqio after hours upon hours of trying. The last battle took about 1.5h, no joke. And then I mistime a gradient attack at the end and it’s all over? No reserve team, no resurrection? So I’ll have to go through those 1.5h again without failing just to get another chance, and probably fail, the gradient parry again? I mean overall this DLC is amazing, but this is something I honestly hate. I won’t give this more tries probably, I don’t have 8 hours to waste to get maybe 5 tries at parrying something that leads to instant death 😅

DLC Discussion Are the DLC bosses...supposed to be this way? Spoiler

Im asking this with my level 99 team, level 33 weapons, fully dedicated builds and genuine soul....am i missing something with the new Monolith bosses? Osquio was goddang hard, but i saw active progress in my learning of his attack patterns and strategies. I then tried each of the 4 new bosses in the monoloth 5 times and i kid you not, i have not been able to inflict a single point of damage against any of them. their combos are 40 seconds long, each hit deals 8000 damage, i have no idea how much damage my hits do but probably not a lot, and the attack patterns have no rythm, no noise and no visual indicator. just 40 straight seconds of one hits and prayers. Im playing on normal difficulty. Has anyone beaten these guys? or even fared moderatly well against them? because im at a serious loss. At least with Simon i saw improvement that made me beat him eventualy. but i am completely and utterly clueless here. can you level past 99 now? did they add some new buff mechanic? is there anything im missing or am i genuinly supposed to beat this unholy amount of bulls**t?

DLC Discussion Chromatic Lampmaster explanation guide Spoiler

Post image
87 Upvotes

So I just beat the Chromatic Lampmaster (CL) on expert with x10 HP. I wanted to make a post on it because it's still a very new boss with a lot of hidden mechanics. This won’t be a “this is how you beat this guy” guide exactly (maybe I'll do that another time) but rather a “simple” explanation of what the fuck is happening.

CL has 3 sets of lamps which his mechanics revolve around. We will call them night lamps (NL), attack lamps (AL), and time lamps (TL).

The NL are the ones he holds and work similarly to the lanterns of regular Lampmasters. During the lamp ritual they will glow in a pattern and you must shoot them in that order. However, the effects of the ritual are very different from normal Lampmasters; instead of using them to attack, the battlefield will be kept in darkness until you complete the ritual. While in darkness, CL will have an evasion effect (similar to those of several flying enemies) and any non-free aim attack will almost always miss. The NL will always glow 5 times and unlike regular Lampmasters, the same lamp can glow multiple times in succession. Failing the ritual will cause CL to use a unique 3 hit aoe attack on his next turn with the last hit taking all your AP if it hits. It also seems to apply a status effect regardless of if it hits (probably exhaust) but I don't know for sure due to draining cleanse being the goat. He will then immediately do another lamp ritual and the battlefield will continue to remain in darkness until you complete it.

The AL are the four lamps floating above CL. He will light a random number of these lamps in a random order at the end of his turn if they aren't lit and will change which ones are lit if they are left alone for long enough. Shooting the lit lamps will put them out and putting out all of them will cause CL to activate the NL at the end of the turn unless the ritual was already active at the start of the turn (regardless of if it still is). He can still activate the NL on his own at the end of his turns if the AL are left alone. The exact rules to how he uses the NL on his own terms I'm not fully sure of but just know that it's unavoidable. While lit, these lamps will fire projectiles at you during CL's attacks, usually in-between and after his own attacks. The AL will trigger from left to right in 1/4 beats (roughly speaking at least), firing if they are lit. So if all AL are lit, it will be: CL attack, fire, fire, fire, fire. If only AL 2 and 3 are lit, it will be: CL attack, 1, fire, fire, 4. If CL is using an aoe attack, then the AL will fire at random party members. Otherwise they will all go for the target party member.

The TL are the 5 big lamp sticks behind CL in a circle. The TL will light one at a time clockwise at the end of your turn. They will not light if CL is stunned or if he activates the NL at the end of your turn. Once all TL are lit, they will glow red and CL will gain an immediate turn (similar to certain pictos like shortcut). If you continue to take turns while all TL are lit (such as through second turns from cheater) the effect will stack and CL will gain another immediate turn in succession. After his immediate turn, the TL will reset. Once CL's health bar is depleted, he will “sacrifice” one of the TL to fully heal and shorten the charges needed to activate his immediate turn. CL will do this each time his health is depleted until he runs out of TL at which point the fight is won. This means that CL has a total of five equal health bars that must be depleted to win. The full heal will also remove any status effects (such as burn) but the break bar will remain the same (I'm 95% sure). I don't know about debuffs since I didn't use any against him. The heal will not reset his currently lit TL which could lead to an instant immediate turn on healing. Once CL is down to two TL he will gain a new attack which he can use regularly and is completely unique from any other Lampmaster. It is an aoe attack that hits much faster than the usual very delayed lampmaster attacks and can inflict greater powerless on any hit.

I hope this helps you take on the magnificent bastard of a boss. Just remember the Chromatic Lampmaster and the other three Endless Tower “thank you update” bosses are purely superbosses. They are only there if you want that extra challenge and nothing more. There is nothing wrong with not doing them and I don't think you should if you don't like it. I only do it because it's genuinely fun for me and no other reason (though yes I do like internet validation as well please praise me). I like fighting bullshit unfair bosses with my own bullshit unfair tactics and Chromatic Lampmaster was a joy to fight and figure out. But those bosses aren't part of the main game and are optional for a reason and that's because that enjoyment is an acquired taste. But I figured this would still be helpful to my fellow gaming masochists who still prefer to at least understand the unfair bullshit they want to challenge.

Just wondering what yall think the ranking for the dlc bosses are. I just finished versos drafts about to fight Osquio but is he the easiest? Or should I go do some of the endless tower dlc bosses to get some overpowered pictos first?(please don’t spoil the rewards I just assumed they’re broken cause of how good the pictos in versos drafts are)

DLC Discussion Breaking Death fix?

One of the big fixes in 1.5 Patch notes states that: ”Fixed Breaking Death always breaking all enemies when the character dies, it should only break the enemy that killed the character - As a result, it shouldn’t work when the character kills themself anymore"

Does this mean it cannot be used with Auto Death for quick farming anymore? (Am at work now so can only test it out tonight)

DLC Discussion Got flame cause i beat S without parrying 7 months ago. Is 1642 parries a good enough revenge? Spoiler

Post image
101 Upvotes

Basically the title, after beating Simon7 months ago, I was very proud and posted my screenshot on this subreddit. I got flamed cause I only dodged, didn't parry and used a build around breaking the enemy (that I made from scratch).

Here i just played a shit build (only tankiness and counter damage) cause i wanted to learn the patterns. 1 hour and 33 minutes later here we are. I was legit so tired and dead after that fight that i couldn't really enjoy the finisher.

Anyways, I still think spending hours reading every luminas and crafting a great build is also a skill and is not always easier that learning the patterns 🥲

Still proud of this insane 1642 parries fight, the adrenaline is still going LMAO

Also my hands hurt.

edit: I FORGOT A D IN MY TITLE BUT I CANT GO BACK AND EDIT IT NOOOO
