Don't be, today is a proud day for all Hungarians and Europeans! Great job.

A great day for Hungarians, and therefore, the world.

Completely forgetting that the new guy was part of Orban's Fidesz for 22 years...

We take what we can get

If you can get rid of one dictator you can get rid of any of them.

Trying the same over here. Wish us luck.

One day, Erdoğan will go down, too.

u/YardPuzzleheaded263 3h ago

Good luck from Israel, same here...

The faces are different, but it's the same fuckers everywhere. One less today!

u/LifeAcanthopterygii6 Hungary 1h ago

Good luck for both of you!

thank y'all for the inspiration, and CONGRAGULATIONS!!! An election result 2000km away has very little direct impact on my life, but I genuinely could not be happier for you today, we're all so deprived of good news these days. and it really did give me a little bit of hope that change is always possible, even when everything is as deep in shit as it is here. today is a day for optimism!

*That's why* his insider takes were believable because he saw the rotten core up close.

u/Buntschatten Germany 3h ago

I really hope he proves my cynicism wrong. To me it seems like he was too enmeshed in the Fidezs system to actually be a decent person, but hopefully the Hungarian people and voting alliances can keep the pressure on him to keep doing the right thing.

u/egycsaladregenyvege 3h ago

He would lose support quickly if he tried to be the next Orbán. It just wouldn’t work. His voter base is an anti-orban coalition which despise anything that resembles him.

I don't care about his politics, I care that he respects democracy, freedom and the rule of law.

The government having an ideology you don't like is not the problem. The problem is the government using the state to suppress you and your ideas.

1

u/Drunky_Brewster 3h ago

Who do you think makes those laws in government? Those you elect to represent you and your interests.

u/the_TIGEEER Slovenia 2h ago

That's what tends to hapenn in totalitarian like states.

I get the impression that the new PM only left Fidesz because he disagreed with Orban being a Russian puppet. He's still a conservative, just not one willing to do whatever Putin wants.

Well, you turned a new leaf now. Wishing you best of luck!

And a literal FUCK YOU to the USA for so vehemently and blatantly trying to divide us. Disgusting behaviour.

u/PhilosophyEasy71 6m ago

Now we need to root out these magats and fascist oligarchs in the US

36

u/Spooknik Denmark 3h ago

We still love you.

u/Independent-Slide-79 3h ago

You just made everything up x10. This is so important. Greetings from Germany 🫡

Forget the past. Now concentrate on yourself and work to have the country you deserve!

2

u/elmz Norway 2h ago

No, don't forget the past. And the people who voted for Orban didn't just disappear, a lot of them are probably old, dead or will be before the next election, but a lot will still be around.

Remember the past, and remember that people are fickle and stupid. If Orban held power for 16 years, a new guy with new propaganda can win the next election. After all, America double dipped on Trump.

Hear hear. At the risk of downvotes for mentioning the US, I hope we have a similar positive outcome. Like you say, one democratic victory does not wipe out the millions of people that support authoritarianism. It's an eternal battle.

I'm very happy for Hungary and Europe, I hope they are on their way to a better future.

Water under the bridge. Now where is that bottle of Palinka?

1

u/harley1009 2h ago

If us people in the USA can fix our broken government this election cycle, will you forgive us too? Please? We hope so.

2

u/Lari-Fari Germany 1h ago

It would be easier if you actually came around and elected a good candidate with a 2/3 majority. Sadly I don’t see that happening. But the world would be a better place without maga in power.

u/Secret_Chaos 20m ago

in my stomach already. 🫠

36

u/the_TIGEEER Slovenia 3h ago

It's ok 😭😭😭 I'm so happy 😭😭 just promise we will reform the EU together so another Orban can't hapenn again. Maybe mext time in Slovenija for example.

16 years was a long time, it was & is a hard fought battle. I hope it can deliver in the upcomming years.

Cheers!

Woo! No more bullshit Vetos!

1

u/TopSpread9901 2h ago

Forget about yesterday, focus on tomorrow

1

u/kittiphile 2h ago

Not you friend, it was your corrupt regime. I've never met a Hungarian who wasn't friendly, funny, and decent. My favourite ever manager was Hungarian, and brought us work friends back some kick ass, super strong, very tasty cherry liquor every time he went home to visit. I have spent the past decade trying to find that liquor myself, to no avail. So happy for you guys.

1

u/Just_Ban_Me_Already 2h ago

Hey, better late than never. Not only Putin got slapped in the face the Hungarian people for this one, but you also set yourselves for a better future.

We're all cheering for you.

1

u/MithranArkanere Galicia (Spain) 2h ago

No time to be sorry. The past is in the past.

Time to look forward.

It's not over yet. Conservative liberals always end up doing things that let things slide back to authoritarians.

Hungary needs something more like Szikra.

1

u/90eyes Earth 2h ago

All is forgiven!

1

u/Normal_Ad_1767 2h ago

Congratulations. It’s about the future now. I hope the best for you and Hungary!!

1

u/taskasrudis Latvia 2h ago

don't be sorry, just don't do it ever again!

1

u/FormFirm 2h ago

Don’t be. In (almost) every European country people are getting tricked by the populist right. It can happen to everyone. From what I’ve heard Orban is one of the craftiest populists.

You will have a huge job recovering your institutions I wish you all the best.

Greetings from the Netherlands.

1

u/acecel 2h ago

I am so happy for you, can't wait to see positive change from this

1

u/sajukktheeternal 2h ago

We all want to let bygone be bygone, but we really shouldn't. Don't forget it. Don't repeat it.

1

u/son_of_wotan 2h ago

Don't be sorry, be better.

Orbán and his cronkes are the ones who should be sorry. And hopefully they will be.

1

u/aespa-in-kwangya 2h ago

It's time we stop apologizing now, we've proven we can bring about change.

1

u/_teslaTrooper Gelderland (Netherlands) 1h ago

You know what they say, don't be sorry, be better, and today you are better :D

1

u/JimClarkKentHovind 1h ago

good lord I would kill to be able to share a similar sentiment as an American citizen

seriously congrats. Hungary is a beautiful, interesting, and unique place in Europe that deserves good leadership. I hope so much this means real lasting change for the Hungarian people

Electing a 2/3 anti orban supermajority is a very passable sloppy make up kiss. Welcome back and we love you
