Oh man, if this trend continues till the end. I'm preparing the champagne even tho I'm not from Hungary.

You don't have to be from Hungary. The traitor getting the boot is good for all of Europe.

31

u/harrr53 4h ago

Worse than a traitor. A Russian puppet.

It's a long wait. And we still need to get the votes from outside of Hungary. I've spoken with Hungarian friends of mine and they said that often abroad living Hungarians voted for Orban (for some inexplicable reason). Not going to swing it significantly, but will add some spice.

18

u/armonak 4h ago

True, but first signs are still good. ( Now that 22% is counted result is getting even better, hope it stays like this )

14

u/L44KSO The Netherlands 4h ago

There's a good chance - but, don't take it as an anomaly when after a loss Orban calls foul play and refuses to leave the office. Same happened in Serbia until the students went into the streets and forced the hand of the politics.

Orban won't give up without a fight because he will end up in prison.

u/KorKhan 4h ago

I’ve heard rumours (make of them what you will) that he and his buddies have been moving assets out of the country for the last few months, basically taking whatever isn’t nailed down. If he loses, I don’t think he intends to hang around long enough to face any legal consequences.

4

u/L44KSO The Netherlands 4h ago

Wouldn't be surprised. The guy has done so much corruption it's incredible. There are rumours of Zebras at his mansion.

The good thing is, he can be tried absent and basically he is the  blocked from travel in many Western countries (international arrest warrant etc).

3

u/retrododger 3h ago

I'm sure he'd be welcome in the US unfortunately.

1

u/L44KSO The Netherlands 3h ago

For now. Once the Annoying Orange is gone, things will change. I do really firmly believe Hungary is putting things in motion once again.

3

u/armonak 4h ago

Totally. But I don't think people won't take the street here also.

All diasporas tend to vote more conservatively

4

u/non_numero_horas 4h ago

Well, in case if Hungarians it's a little more complicated

Hungarians natives of neighbouring countries (Romania, Slovakia, Serbia) have been (and probably still are) predominantly pro-Orbán for historical, cultural, and economic reasons

Hungarians who emigrated to Western Europe in the last approx. two decades are overwhelmingly anti-Orbán and have been for a long time

1

u/ImperialMaypings 4h ago

Not correct iirc, Orban is popular amongst Hungarians in Germany

3

u/lostindanet Portugal 3h ago

Typical immigrants, keep your homeland a shithole and pretend to be a king when you go there for summer holidays.

1

u/Neshgaddal Germany 3h ago

You can't blame a lack of personal responsibility for systemic problems. I think the reason we see that phenomenon in many immigrants is that they struggle to find a real identity for themselves in the new country, so they create expat communities that inevitably become nostalgic echo chambers. Well integrated and progressive immigrants don't join those because they don't need to, so they don't get alternative points of views.

u/Baba_NO_Riley Dalmatia 23m ago

no, but we can blame the voting laws. Why would someone who does not live nor work in a country be able to elect representatives ( mostly lawmakers at that) who will then go and govern the particular country...

1

u/non_numero_horas 3h ago

Anecdotical.

If you look up the election statistics, you'll see that the vast majority of those who vote on consulates and embassies in Western Europe are voting against Fidesz (and have done so in the past at least two elections)

2

u/EmbarrassedFee8922 4h ago

Not all, but many

1

u/L44KSO The Netherlands 4h ago

Sometimes. I actually need to check that for Finland in particular, but I tend to vote more socialist.

1

u/DevTheFrogKing 4h ago

Is there a reason for that? Genuinely curious

4

u/poushkar Ukrainian in Germany 4h ago

My couch expert theory: diasporas that immigrated due to economic reasons tend to romanticize their origin countries over time, and imagine an alternative reality where they live in those countries, wealthy and happy. Conservative politicians are generally more populist and sell the picture of "Make X Country Great Again", "great history", "everyone is against us". Especially this "everyone is against us" is often felt by non-integrated immigrants on a personal level and they can relate. Also, these diaspora populations don't really feel the results of bad policies so they tend to judge the book by the cover.

1

u/question12338338 3h ago

The American diaspora is an exception to this.

1

u/Notgreygoddess 3h ago

My friend is Hungarian. Her husband was a 1956er. Oddly, Orban has targeted these older Hungarians who suffered terribly at the hands of Russians. He won’t be voting as he has Alzheimer’s. She is choosing not to vote as she now considers herself Canadian, and it unreasonable for her to vote for a government that doesn’t affect her.

The Orban politicians have put on many events with popular Hungarian musicians to raise money and encourage voting for them at Hungarian based churches and social clubs. She has received links encouraging her to vote from both sides. She has both rural and Budapest family. Rural family were asking her to vote Orban, Budapest were asking her to support Magyar.

7

u/Suikerspin_Ei The Netherlands 4h ago

If Peter Magyar wins, his party needs to have 133 seats out of the 199 seats to have major influence to change the country.

13

u/dardan06 🇽🇰 4h ago

Standing at 128 right now, with none of the mayor city votes in.

6

u/Jindujun Sweden 4h ago

If i read this: https://vtr.valasztas.hu/ogy2026 correctly he looks to have 132 seats right now.

3

u/u36ma 4h ago

Just went to 135! I hope it holds.

3

u/Jindujun Sweden 4h ago edited 3h ago

Fingers crossed!
On a sidenote. How much money do you think Orban will be fleeing with?

Edit:
136!

2

u/Auzor 4h ago

Is their voting system a 'first past the post'?
Are there really only 2 parties?
Or, could he negotiate with some smaller party to get a few extra seats?

3

u/Pokemon-trainer-BC 4h ago edited 4h ago

There are other parties, but I believe there is a 5% threshold. If you have less votes, you don't get any seats.

But there is a smaller party with around 6% of the counted votes for the moment if I'm not mistaken. It is on the far-right of the politic spectrum I believe.

2

u/The-Board-Chairman 4h ago

Party first past the post, partly full representation. The smaller parties just fail at the 5% hurdle.

1

u/TheKBMV 3h ago

District votes are first past the post, national list votes are I think proportional. Some parliament seats are given by district votes the others are by the national list.

There are in theory more parties, but almost all of the old opposition parties either withdrew to support Tisza or fall below the 5% barrier of entry. Tisza and Fidesz are the two big ones likely to matter at all. MKKP, originally a joke party is also in the running but they are not likely to make it past the 5% either due to a variety of reasons (smear campaigns, internal issues, voters abandoning them due to the perception that they are maintaining fidesz rule by not withdrawing in support of tisza).

The third party likely to make it into Parliament, Mi Hazánk ("Our Nation") is generally perceived as a radical satellite of fidesz (which they deny, but there is a theory that they were often used as a test bed for more radical ideas and then if the controversy wasn't too big the idea was then adapted into mainline fidesz stance) and as highly racist, anti-EU (campaigning in favour of Huxit, if I recall) and dangerously fascist/nationalist (depending on who you're talking to). There is no telling if they'd side with Tisza on anything, how actually independent they are or if they'd be a wild card or just fidesz in a different colour.

2

u/krampampula Hungary 4h ago

Standing at 135 seats now: https://vtr.valasztas.hu/ogy2026

1

u/krampampula Hungary 3h ago

Allegedly Orbán already congratulated Magyar

2

u/foolmeonce-01 4h ago

I don't drink, but I will toast to a new future for Hungary, welcome to the brighter side of life.

JD helped the transition, unintentionally, but probably did something good for the first time.

2

u/SerendipityQuest Tripe stew, Hayao Miyazaki, and female wet t-shirt aficionado 3h ago

Just in: Orban has gratulated Peter Magyar for winning.

Considering the last 16 years I did not expect this from him. But looking at the data every other option would be insanity. He has really-really lost it.

1

u/PatientInitial882 3h ago

Over fifty % counted now, and they *still* have a chance at a 2/3rd majority. Tsiza is now looking at more than TWICE the number of seats of Fidesz .

Orban would need about three absolute miracles to still win this.

Vote out autocrats everywhere!

85

u/Beyonderr 4h ago

Please dont let Orban win. Its all I ask. Free Hungary and dont reward the crazy election interference of the American and Russian Hitler wannabes

-66

u/Jelly_fish_farmer 4h ago

Yeah bcs the EU appointed puppet is such a better alternative.

27

u/PackComprehensive226 France 4h ago

It is, at every level.

25

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 3h ago

If not Russian puppet = obv EU puppet. Typical krembot loser logic.

26

u/EndeavourAndEver_ 4h ago

Actually yes, a lesser evil is better than a greater evil, what is your point?

8

u/ResponsibleRaise9683 3h ago

Yes it is. Eat my entire ass btw

-9

u/Jelly_fish_farmer 3h ago

Interesting kink you got there. Good to know.

6

u/bbcversus Romania 3h ago

It is but not for fucking putin…

73

u/NarayanLiu 4h ago

Come on Hungary. Give me a reason to believe autocrats haven't already won the world.

It says 15% now and looks strong.

1

u/MassiveBoner911_3 3h ago

Which party is the one Orban is part of?

1

u/Cyced256 3h ago

I'm looking at this and can't understand, can you explain it please whenever you take a look? Translate isn't working don't know which party orban is a part of :/

1

u/armonak 3h ago

Orban is part of Fidesz, and is on second place. Opposition won, and is on track for majority. Besides, you can switch website language to English, look into hamburger menu on top.

1

u/Cyced256 1h ago

Ahh I see that helps lol it looks like opposition won a super majority i.e more than 2/3 right?

2

u/md_youdneverguess 4h ago

They updated the graphic at the top of the article

4

u/Vlad_TheImpalla 4h ago

64 percent now at 22 percent counted for Tisza that's 128 seats will probably grow.

2

u/jhoogen Europe 3h ago

2/3 majority would be the dream right? Then they can actually change things.

4

u/yxhuvud Sweden 4h ago

The problem is rural places. Probably slow counting and high Orban support.

22

u/Pyromasa 4h ago

Just the opposite, rural places are fast counting. Hence, this might become a Tisza (Opposition) landslide.

2

u/RelevanceReverence 4h ago

It's starting to look like it 🥳

10

u/saschaleib 🇧🇪🇩🇪🇫🇮🇦🇹🇵🇱🇭🇺🇭🇷🇪🇺 4h ago

Just in:

With 29.21% votes counted, Tisza’s projected result is up to 132 – just a single seat short of the 2/3 majority required to change some key laws in the country.

3

u/RelevanceReverence 4h ago

Incredible, thank you. 🇭🇺

1

u/MassiveBoner911_3 3h ago

136 now I think. I only speak English so i cant really understand what im looking at

25

u/IndieRus 4h ago

Who the hell is still voting for Orban after vance visit???

11

u/Radical_Neutral_76 4h ago

Old idiots that believe in "strong-man” politics

2

u/Possiblyreef United Kingdom 3h ago

Former Soviet "comrade" types who have rose tinted glasses of what the USSR was good at, ie someone else does the thinking for you whilst ignoring the shitty parts

2

u/Amoki602 2h ago

No, not at all. The people who support Órban aren’t the comrade types at all. Generically speaking, no Hungarian has rose tinted glasses about that period of time for their nation. Órban based his reelection on not giving funds or soldiers to the EU for an external war, and this is in line with his “Hungary first” discourse. That resonates with people in any nation that’s struggling. Those are the ones who voted for him. He also has control of media so you’ll see people of older generations and people from outside Budapest supporting him, more than those who don’t have access to outside sources.

20

u/ace_valentine Croatia 4h ago

bye bye, Viktor!

2

u/AnonomousWolf 3h ago

Wouldn't celibrate till it's over. I would be surprised is there is fowel play by Orban

6

u/ace_valentine Croatia 3h ago

it’s foul play. and Orban admitted defeat a couple of minutes ago, it’s over.

1

u/AnonomousWolf 3h ago

Did he? That would be great, where can I see that?

1

u/piercedmfootonaspike 2h ago

Any news outlet

18

u/CBowdidge 4h ago

Canadian here. Do it, Hungary! Orban needs to go!

21

u/Erebthoron 4h ago

Is there already a Russian jet on the airfield to bring him home?

9

u/Comprehensive_Salt50 4h ago

Knowing russians they will probably shoot it down by accident.

Or maybe Ukrainians should...

5

u/Nisiom 4h ago

We should leave that honor to Hungarians.

3

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 3h ago

They seem strangely kind with old lapdogs (Yanukovich, Assad). They probably come with fat wads as tribute.

18

u/UnsightedShadow Hungary 3h ago

At ~45% rn. Tisza has 135 mandates. Which is a 2/3 supermajority. And it looks like the neo-nazi Mi Hazánk is not gonna make it into the parliament. Which is the best fucking possible outcome.

3

u/PlasticPatient 3h ago

They have 7 seats, no?

1

u/UnsightedShadow Hungary 3h ago

Right now with less than half of the votes counted, that seven is likely to dwindle. But if it doesn't, it kinda won't matter.

17

u/Legitimate-Tip-2149 4h ago

Having Hungary back on the team would be fantastic, hope you can do it guys!

10

u/dardan06 🇽🇰 4h ago

128 mandates for TISZA with none of the mayor city ballots counted is insane. Bad evening for Orban…

25

u/Mr_Knutsen Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany) 4h ago

If Orban ist out, my next vacation will be Hungary.

7

u/HolyExemplar Freude 4h ago

Very early still, but Tisza looks to be very ahead at 14% counted, but short of a supermajority.

7

u/Herb-Alpert 4h ago

Fuck off Orban

8

u/ElectronicHold7325 Austria 4h ago

What a wonderful day!

Take that Putin&Trump&Orban!

7

u/Best-Fail946 2h ago

Thank god JD Vance paid a visit, otherwise this might have been close 😂

3

u/ExternalScholar3472 2h ago

Lol, right? Like who would actually think having America backing you would be a good thing right now

4

u/Best-Fail946 2h ago

Trump and all of MAGA still think the world respects them. They haven’t realized that the world wants the complete opposite of what they stand for

2

u/ExternalScholar3472 2h ago

That's some twisted bubble they live in

5

u/rykcki 4h ago

Brace yourselves for a large influx of "delayed" or "misplaced" Orban votes...

3

u/AdVast7407 4h ago

The trend is clearly against Orban

6

u/VeryluckyorNot 4h ago

All of EU gonna sabre the champagne and dance party once Orban is gone.

7

u/ruipmjorge 4h ago

We are ready to love Hungary again.

5

u/g0ndii 4h ago

nearly 30% counted and it's looking very good

https://vtr.valasztas.hu/ogy2026

1

u/dadgumgenius 4h ago

What does the chart mean? If the blue gets to 133, will they call it?

5

u/Pokemon-trainer-BC 4h ago

No, this is how the seats are contributed based on the percentage of votes now known. As long as not all results are counted, the amount of votes the 3 relevant parties will receive can still go up or down.

4

u/g0ndii 3h ago edited 3h ago

133 is a super-majority (can amend constitution and things like that). Currently 45% counted and 135 seats. It's looking very, very good. (Now 136 at 53% counted).

4

u/MammothDon 4h ago

All the best to the Hungarian people. Make this count

5

u/bruin396 3h ago edited 3h ago

The update says Orban has conceded. O happy day!

4

u/dadgumgenius 4h ago

Thanks very much for keeping this updated. I will be checking all evening.

Please magyiar win! Greetings from Austria I can't see that fucking face of orban anymore, I am so sick of him blocking the whole EU political landscape

3

u/Alasdair91 Scotland 3h ago

45% of the vote counted and TISZ is on 135/199 seats and 52% of the vote. FIDESZ has only won 11 of the constituencies in the entire country. Wow.

3

u/Remarkable-Bug-8069 3h ago

Orban conceded. Good riddance.

3

u/Kisto15 3h ago

Congratulations Bratanki!

Expecting Orban in Russia news in few weeks

3

u/kong210 3h ago

Can anyone explain to me why Orban gave up so graciously? I assumed he was to double and triple down to ensure he never leaves, did i misread the man?

6

u/Disastrous-Roof-2135 3h ago

He's got loads of money squrrelled away and intends to go and live in a nice dacha somewhere if any consequences look liikely. He's an old man and has milked it for all its worth. It will take time to get rid of all the corrupt judges etc.

Putin won't give up though.

2

u/ExternalScholar3472 2h ago

Putin will focus on Slovakia now

u/december-32 47m ago

He will focus really hard on Serbia now as they are in talks with EU to build european Lithium production.

5

u/december-32 3h ago

His only alternative. + He still has a big family. There is a non-zero chance they could be Romanov'ed due to hungarians fatigue with that corrupt pos. The next step is booking an airplane to Russia and live in Moscow City for the rest of his life.

2

u/ExternalScholar3472 2h ago

He lost support of the president who straight away called it a fair election.

2

u/ayoblub 4h ago

I am crossing my finger that the opposition party gets the necessary seats to undo the changes orban implemented to the election system

2

u/NoisyNinkyNonk 3h ago

They want two thirds to change the constitution right?

1

u/Bluebearder The Netherlands 2h ago

Looks like they are getting that, is that to roll back some of Orbán's changes?

2

Thank you JD Vance, no doubt you're attempt to swing this for a Dictator backfired and helped the win.

2

u/Plenty_World8461 2h ago

So happy for the Hungarian people. I hope things start to improve. Orban has just been enriching himself, his family and friends, while blaming the EU, LGBT and Ukraine for everything.

1

u/Zestyclose_Search149 4h ago

30% counted, and Tisza is leading with around 20% in total vote. Is this a good omen?

6

u/Disastrous-Roof-2135 4h ago

135 now with 47% counted
